    Har norsk barnevern utviklet seg til en industri – og hva skjer når systemet som skal beskytte barn, selv bidrar til å skade dem? I denne episoden av «Snakk med Silje» møter jeg advokat Marie Sølverud, som har arbeidet med barnevernssaker i rundt 18 år. Hun kommer med sterk kritikk av et system hun mener har fått for mye makt og for lite kontroll. Sølverud bruker selv begrepet «barnevernsindustrien». Vi snakker om milliardene som brukes på barnevernet, private institusjoner, fosterhjem, sakkyndige og andre aktører – og spør om økonomiske og profesjonelle interesser kan påvirke hvilke løsninger som velges for barna. For hvorfor brukes enorme summer på å flytte barn ut av hjemmet dersom noen av disse ressursene i stedet kunne vært brukt på å hjelpe familiene der de er? Vi snakker også om den enorme maktforskjellen mellom foreldre og systemet, akuttvedtak, politiets rolle, sakkyndige psykologer, tilsyn, lukkede rettsprosesser og hvor vanskelig det kan være for foreldre å få prøvd barnevernets vurderinger. Hun forteller om saker der barn har blitt skilt fra foreldre, søsken og resten av nettverket sitt, og om barn som etter hennes vurdering har fått det betydelig dårligere etter at det offentlige overtok omsorgen. Samtidig diskuterer vi det vanskelige dilemmaet: Det finnes barn som må beskyttes mot vold, overgrep og alvorlig omsorgssvikt. Hvordan lager vi et system som griper inn når det virkelig er nødvendig, uten at selve inngrepet påfører barnet større skade? Vi kommer også inn på dødsfall blant barn under offentlig omsorg og spør hvem som gransker systemet når det verste skjer. Hvor mye makt bør barnevernet ha?
