  • Dr. Chapa’s OBGYN Clinical Pearls

Retest GDM Late 3rd Tri for LGA or Poly? (OCT 2026 Data)

Picture this common, late-gestation conundrum: You’re reviewing a 34-week sono. The mid-pregnancy 24-to-28-week glucose screen was completely normal. But now, the sonogram pops up with an estimated fetal weight of over 90%, or maybe a MVP (or AFI) that’s overtly elevated. The classic clinical dilemma hits: Do you order a repeat OGTT this late in the game? Is it actually worth poking the patient again, or are you just chasing shadows? Well, we now have new meta-analytic data. Today, we are reviewing fresh, high-yield data hot off the press from the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (OCT 2026). We’re breaking down this systematic review evaluating late-onset GDM- looking at precisely who may yield a positive diagnosis on a repeat third-trimester test, why LGA and polyhydramnios are not created equal when deciding to re-screen, and what these late numbers mean for neonatal hypoglycemia and cesarean delivery rates. AND, although these insights are helpful- some questions remain. Let’s jump in! 1. The Spirits of Emery Estate, Part Two | Advance CLASSIC

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWO What was meant to be a routine paranormal investigation quickly became something far more disturbing. In their new book, Haunting of Emery Estate, Rob Gutro and Monique Toosoon recount their investigation into one of the area’s most notorious locations. What they encountered inside Emery Estate wasn’t a single presence—but three distinctly different spirits, each leaving behind a very different impression. The first was a young boy, whose presence carried both sorrow and longing. The second seemed bound to an object, its energy anchored to something from the past. And then there was the third—an entity whose arrival shifted the atmosphere entirely, replacing curiosity with unease and fear. Today on The Grave Talks, we sit down with Rob and Monique to explore what unfolded during that investigation, how the experience escalated, and what it means when an investigation crosses from observation into something far more personal. Some hauntings reveal stories. Others reveal warnings. “Haunting of Emery Estate” is available on Amazon or wherever books are sold. For more information, you can visit Rob’s website at robgutro.com or Monique’s website, moniquetoosoon.com. #EmeryEstate #HauntedInvestigation #ParanormalBooks #TrueParanormal #GhostEncounters #HauntedPlaces #TheGraveTalks #DarkEntities #RealHauntings Love real ghost stories? Could We Detect the Death Star?

To celebrate the release of Star Wars Rogue One this weekend, let's ask the question - could we detect the Death Star with our current telescopes? Remarkably astronomers have been thinking about the detectability of alien megastructures, such as the Death Star, for many years and we can apply some scientific thinking to get to the answer. ::More about this Video:: ► Companion video on Martin Archer's channel, "Is the Death Star a Star?": https://youtu.be/Q4CKSekJzxk ► Kipping & Teachey 2016, "A Cloaking Device for Transiting Planets": https://arxiv.org/abs/1603.08928 ► Cool Worlds video by Alex Teachey about our laser cloaking system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1Pqqf_6J9w ► Most recent results from exomoon hunting, Kipping et al. 2015, "The Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK): V.
