THE FLOW IS BACK
We have had a lot of rain recently from the northeaster that slowly made its way up the coast. The water is flowing in the little brook that passes by our house and helps relieve the summer dry spell. People can go through dry spells in their lives when their creativity seems non-existent. COUNTING THE SHADES OF GREEN
Milton Erikson told one of his patients to go out and count the shades of green in grass. I imagine the patient must have had a very narrow view of life and saw green as only one shade. FINDING PLEASURE
I get great pleasure in finding things in Nature that brighten up the landscape, like the last of the bee balm flowers hanging on until a killing frost. This form of pleasure is what I call heart-based rather than ego-based. This summer we have had several interruptions in accomplishing our goals, but we managed to start improving a trail by using some no value books that would have gone to the dump as fill for low spots in an old skidder road with the intention of creating a new trail. LEAN ON ME
Recently I cut down a tall slender birch tree that was leaning over the old road and causing a potential winter hazard when heavy snow arrives. After I cleaned up the branches, I looked back and another tree had taken its place. It had been leaning on the first one. A NEW DISCOVERY
I was opening the gate to the Cabin driveway when I discovered a tiny flower hiding in the tall grass under my feet. According to a flower identifier, it is called a purple false foxglove.
