In July 2019, personnel aboard the USS Omaha tracked an unidentified, apparently spherical object off the coast of Southern California. Infrared footage shows the object moving above the Pacific before descending toward the apparent waterline and disappearing from view, prompting a sailor to say that it had "splashed." The Pentagon later confirmed that the footage was recorded by U.S. Navy personnel and examined as part of official UAP investigations. However, the public video does not prove that the object actually entered the ocean or possessed "transmedium" capabilities. Possible explanations include drones, balloons, sensor limitations, or another unidentified airborne object. The incident remains unresolved because the available public data are incomplete.
