Got My Neck, Got My Boobies with Kevin Morby

Musician and songwriter Kevin Morby joins Devon on the show this week to draw comparisons between himself and Nina Simone, trade travel horror stories, and respond to a fascinating voicemail submission from a fan in Berlin. Kevin Morby is an American singer-songwriter whose career has traced a path from the Brooklyn indie underground to becoming one of contemporary folk-rock’s most distinctive voices. Born in Lubbock, Texas, and raised in the Midwest, Morby first gained attention as a member of the indie-folk band Woods before forming The Babies with Cassie Ramone. He launched his solo career with 2013’s “Harlem River,” beginning a prolific run of albums that established him as a thoughtful chronicler of American life. Across records such as “Singing Saw,” “City Music,” “Oh My God,” and “This Is a Photograph,” Morby has developed a songwriting style rooted in vivid imagery, philosophical reflection, and a deep connection to place. His songs often blend folk, rock, soul, and Americana influences, drawing from traditions associated with artists like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Tom Petty while maintaining his own conversational, literary voice. Morby’s most recent album, “Little Wide Open”(2026), marks another major step in his evolution. Produced with Aaron Dessner, the album explores home, memory, love, mortality, and the uncertainty of adulthood, with contributions from artists including Justin Vernon, Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath, and Lucinda Williams. With “Little Wide Open,” Morby continues to solidify his reputation as a modern American troubadour— an artist whose work transforms personal reflection into expansive songs about the shared experiences of growing older, searching for meaning, and finding beauty in uncertainty. What Comes on a Sausage Biscuit? with Kenny Mason

Rapper and singer Kenny Mason joins Devon on the show this week to break down the lyrics in Travis Porter’s “Waffle House,” discuss Future’s creation of the term “pesbians,” and recap the Andre 3000 flute concert. Kenny Mason, whose music has soundtracked everything from “NHL 24” to HBO’s “Euphoria” released his third studio album BULLDAWG on May 12th, and it was #9 on Spotify’s List of Top 10 Albums in the first few weeks. The project explores themes of identity, self-worth, and the pressure to define your value in a world that often tries to do it for you. Framed around the idea that “we live in a junkyard,” Kenny reflects on disposability of both artists and people and the tension between ambition and protecting your sense of self. It’s introspective without losing intensity and feels especially resonant across genres. Featuring collaborations with JID, Dominic Fike, Paris Texas, and more, Kenny frames the project around the idea that “we live in a junkyard,” meaning the disposability, of artists and of people, and the tension between ambition and protecting your sense of self. Kenny sits in a compelling space between hip-hop and alternative rock, pulling inspiration from bands like Title Fight, The Smashing Pumpkins, and My Chemical Romance, pairing this influence with sharp lyricism and fluid, polished production.
