Florida To Execute 74-Year-Old Inmate On Death Row For 50 Years!

The state of Florida is executing its 14th death row inmate of the year at 6pm ET. 74-year-old Harold Gene Lucas was 24 when he shot his teenaged ex-girlfriend in the head with a rifle and injured her two friends who were there to protect her. 16-year-old Jill Piper had Lucas arrested for trespassing and threatening to kill her the week before he went back to her home, to make good on his threat. Lucas was sentenced to death five times over the past five decades and has now waived his final appeal saying, “The sooner it’s over, the better I’ll enjoy it. I am tired.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

!!UPDATE!! Killer Mom Trial VERDICT WATCH: Jury Heads Home Without A Verdict, Remains Deadlocked After 22 Hours

There will be a fifth day of deliberations in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial, after the jury asked to go home early once again today. This, after the judge sent the deadlocked jurors back to deliberate, late this morning. In the state of Massachusetts, the judge can only send the jury back twice without their consent, but may ultimately issue what’s called the “Tuey Rodriguez” charge, encouraging jurors to reevaluate their decision and consider where the other jurors are, while staying true to their personal convictions. !!!BREAKING!!! Killer Mom Trial: Jury DEADLOCKED

This is a breaking story: Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial told the judge that they are unable to reach a unanimous decision. He responded by telling them to keep at it. But for how long? The judge still has another option before declaring a mistrial. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Killer Mom Trial VERDICT WATCH: Jury Back For Day 4 Of Deliberations!

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial is back at it, beginning their 4th day of deliberations. As of this morning, the jury has already deliberated for 17 hours, which makes this verdict watch one of the longest in recent high profile murder trials. We go over what the judge’s options are if the jury says they’re deadlocked. While the state of Massachusetts does not allow an Allen charge, they do have another type of charge, called the Tuey-Rodriguez instruction. It’s certainly controversial and considered a last ditch effort to encourage jurors into a compromise. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tupac Murder Trial: GUILTY Verdict For Former Gang Leader Duane Davis

One week shy of the 30th anniversary of the shooting death of Tupac Shakur, 63-year-old Duane Davis was found guilty of murdering the rap icon on the Vegas Strip. It only took the jury three hours to convict Davis, after two weeks of testimony and nearly 30 witnesses. The prosecution effectively used Davis’ own words, both written and spoken to convince the jury of 12 that he was the mastermind behind the killing. We have reaction from the courtroom and hear what Davis told the judge after he learned his fate. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Killer Mom Trial VERDICT WATCH: Jury Asks a Question: Can We Go Home Early?

The Lindsay Clancy jury has now officially deliberated for 17 hours, and by asking to head home early for the day, it appears they are nowhere near a verdict. In fact, we didn’t hear a peep from the jury of 9 women and 3 men all day: no questions, no requests for evidence, nothing. Day four of deliberations will begin promptly at 9am tomorrow, making this verdict watch already longer than some of the most recent and high profile murder cases in the country. Killer Mom Trial VERDICT WATCH: Internet Going Wild Over 2 Jurors Reportedly Wearing Pink Today

As we continue to await official word from the Lindsay Clancy jury, conspiracy theorists online are creating their own headlines. At issue, two jurors reportedly walked into court today wearing pink, and folks online are claiming that means those jurors are signaling their support for the Massachusetts mom, after hundreds of women showed up in pink outside the courthouse last week in defense of Lindsay Clancy and women’s mental health issues. The chatter online has grown so loud, that some people are demanding a mistrial. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Killer Mom Trial: Why Lindsay Clancy Would NOT Face Murder Charges In Dozens Of Countries

More than two dozen countries around the world have special laws to prevent a new mother from being convicted of murder if she kills her own child within 12 months of giving birth. That means a jury would not be considering first or second degree murder charges against Lindsay Clancy if the same exact scenario happened in most other western, industrialized countries. It all dates back to the “Infanticide Act of 1938” which allows for manslaughter charges to be brought against a mother who kills her child under a year old because “the balance of her mind was disturbed by reason of her not having fully recovered from the effect of gibing birth to the child.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Killer Mom Trial VERDICT WATCH: What Jurors Are Weighing, As Prosecution Star Witness Resigns From Job After Heated Testimony

The jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial will begin day three of deliberations as they weigh competing medical diagnoses, along with any of their own personal experiences with parenting, motherhood and mental illness. Legal experts say it’s likely an emotional and overwhelming task for jurors, as they determine whether or not mental illness prevented the Massachusetts mom from knowing right from wrong as she strangled her three young children. Meantime, there was an interesting development outside of the courtroom: Dr. Avram Mack resigned from his position at a Delaware children’s hospital immediately after wrapping up his highly contentious testimony where he said Clancy was not suffering from postpartum psychosis. But they've got a long way to go if they're going to deliberate as long as the Charles Manson jury. Amy and T.J. go through the deliberation times in some famous cases (MJ, Chauvin, Cosby, Yates, Zimmerman, etc) and see what it tells us the Clancy jury. Fighting 101 (Part 3) Dealing With A “Resentful Martyr”

We’ve all been around this person: they appear nice, helpful and giving, but in reality their actions actually have nothing to do with you at all, they have to do with them getting praise and attention. The help they offer is sometimes even used as a bargaining chip or emotional blackmail and if you don’t accept it, or don’t like it, all hell will break loose. We have tips on how to recognize a resentful martyr and how to manage a healthier relationship with them. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Fighting 101 (Part 2) 5 Questions To Prevent A Conversation From Turning Into An Argument

This episode was inspired by an instagram feed dedicated to helping people have healthier communication, called happy couples connect. We’ve all felt triggered during heated conversations with our partners, and that’s when we usually make it about the other person: it’s because of THEIR tone, or THEIR timing. The truth is most of us are operating out of fear and we either get defensive, use harsh words, or shut down without trying to understand the other person. We go over the five questions you can ask yourself, before a difficult conversation turns into knock-down, drag-out fight. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Killer Mom Trial: Jurors Ask To See Key Evidence As Deliberations Reach 9 Hours And Counting

We continue to be on verdict watch as 9 women and 3 men continue a second day of deliberations, with no verdict as of yet. Earlier today, Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, told reporters the jurors asked to see the bag of empty pill bottles found in Clancy’s nightstand, as well as the bloody knife she used in her suicide attempt. Reddington also let the press know how Clancy was holding up, as the rest of us wait to hear word from the jury. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
