NEW: Prison Chief Resigns After Christa Pike Debacle, And With A History Of Botched Executions

As Christa Pike remains hospitalized, unconscious, on a ventilator in critical condition after a failed execution attempt, the man in charge of Tennessee prisons has announced his resignation. Governor Bill Lee did not directly reference the situation with Pike, or with this spring’s botched execution of Tony Carruthers, but said Department of Correction Commissioner Frank Strada stepping aside is "in the best interest of Tennesseans as the independent review moves forward." Strada was most recently the Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections where he last oversaw three troubled lethal injections that all involved personnel not being able to find the inmates’ veins. Mom Arrested For Leaving 4 Young Kids Home Alone To Go On Cruise

29-year-old Nathalie Belizaire was taken off a Carnival Cruise ship in handcuffs after police say she went on a 4 day cruise while leaving her 4 kids home, unsupervised. Belizaire has been charged with four counts of felony child abuse after the father of her infant called 9-1-1 after hearing kids’ voices and the tv on at her residence. When police burst through the front door, they found the four kids, including a 2 1/2 month old and a 2-year-old, hiding in the bathroom. Belizaire was in court this week pleading not guilty, and asking for visitation with her kids, which elicited a tongue lashing from the judge. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

UPDATE: Christa Pike Unconscious, Burned, And On A Ventilator

The attorneys for 50-year-old Christa Pike filed an emergency order to preserve all evidence from her botched execution attempt on Wednesday night. Pike’s attorneys detail her conditions, saying she is intubated, unconscious and on a ventilator with her arms swollen, blistered and burned. The filing alleges the medical team improperly placed the IV and both lethal doses of pentobarbital went into her body, not her veins, calling their actions “reckless” and “incompetent.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Nearly A Dozen Mysterious Flock Cameras Leave Residents Feeling “Unsafe”

Residents are demanding answers after a county in Florida discovered multiple Flock cameras that were not permitted, and have no known owner. It’s also unclear whether those cameras are actively collecting data or who can access it. Florida isn’t alone, several other municipalities have found non-permitted cameras on city property that no one has publicly claimed. Flock cameras have drawn recent scrutiny across the country over police misuse and privacy concerns, with many municipalities removing them and ending their surveillance. New York’s Governor Appoints Special Prosecutor For Cornell Gang Rape Investigation

Governor Kathy Hochul held a brief, joint press conference with New York Attorney General Letitia James. Governor Hochul said the Cornell rape accuser was 'failed' by the people who were obligated to protect her, namely the police and the District Attorney. Hochul issued an executive order appointing James as special prosecutor, saying newly released information raises serious questions about the investigation. The alleged victim went to campus police three weeks after she says seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity drugged and raped her back in 2024. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Judge Grants Temporary Restraining Order Against Halle Berry After Ex Accuses Her Of Child Abuse

Halle Berry is being accused of abusing her 12-year-old son Maceo by her ex-husband, actor Olivier Martinez. Martinez was granted a temporary restraining order against the Oscar winning actress and a judge has restricted Berry’s visitation with Maceo. Martinez alleges last week Berry “physically abused our son Maceo, by jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck and choking him.” Martinez is asking for sole custody, while Berry’s attorney fired back with a statement, saying her ex-husband’s claims are “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Christa Pike In Critical Condition As Colleen Slemmer’s Mom Reacts: “We Can’t Get Justice For My Daughter”

50-year-old Christa Pike remains in the hospital, in critical condition this morning. Pike’s attorneys say she was chemically tortured, suggesting the drugs went into her arm tissue rather than her bloodstream. They also have expressed frustration that they haven't been given any sense of her prognosis, but if Pike survives, it will be unprecedented. Meantime, her victim’s mother, May Martinez is speaking out, frustrated by the botched execution. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

NEW Details, Outrage Over Alleged Fraternity Gang Rape On Ivy League Campus

It took former Cornell University student “Jane Doe” filing a lawsuit, and outrage on social media, for prosectors to “reopen” the investigation into her allegations that 7 members of the Chi Phi fraternity drugged and gang raped her back in 2024. The District Attorney claims he never received the full transcript of Jane Doe’s interview with campus police, and says this new lawsuit makes claims that were not made during the initial investigation. There is a lot of finger pointing going on, and a lot of questions being asked, as Jane Does’ full transcript of what she says happened that night have been released. It’s ugly, it’s appalling, and now, two years later, a grand jury will determine if it was criminal. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Begins: 13 Years Ago Today, October 1st Saved My Life

Today marks the 41st anniversary of a month created to bring awareness and save lives for millions of women around the world. October 1st is the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month and to mark that day 13 years ago, Amy had a mammogram on live national television to remind women to make their own potentially life saving appointments. It was that scan that ultimately led to a stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 40. Today, the American Cancer Society wants women and men to know their risks, know the warning signs and help provide the information and resources available. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, but the earlier its detected, the better chance of surviving it. Bloody Attack And Attempted Hijacking Thwarted By Hero Pilot And Passengers

Quick and brave actions by the captain of Flydubai flight 1073 and several of its passengers averted a deadly disaster, saving the lives of more than 170 people on board a flight headed from Dubai to Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing, but the details of what happened mid-air are nothing short of remarkable. A co-pilot who has now been detained, reportedly began stabbing the captain in an attempt to crash the plane. While being attacked, the captain was able to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers to rush in, neutralize the co-pilot and stabilize the plane that had dropped more than 17 thousand feet in less than two minutes. While it’s unclear whether this was an orchestrated terror attack, it is clear that the actions of a few, saved the lives of everyone on board. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Man Who Spent 4 Decades On Death Row, RELEASED After New DNA Testing

71-year-old Douglas Carter walked out of prison this week after spending 40 years on death row for a 1985 murder he says he never committed. Carter was finally freed after DNA from the crime scene excluded him as a suspect. Carter was finally granted a new trial last year after the Utah Supreme Court ruled the two witnesses who testified against him recanted their stories, revealing that police and a prosecutor gave them cash and gifts to point the finger at Carter. Prosecutors agreed with the judge to release Carter, despite objections from the victims’ family. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Diddy’s Pampered Prison Life Exposed: Massages, Meals, Maids and More!

NBC news has sourced a remarkable story describing what life is like for the billionaire music mogul behind bars. Multiple inmates have described a life Sean “Diddy” Combs has curated in prison, spending thousands of dollars a month for men to make his bed, cook his food, clean his clothes and give him massages. They also have photos and videos showing Diddy on a phone - which is not permitted - and say Diddy has premium alcohol that he sometimes shares with a tight circle of inmates on the weekends. Diddy’s reps have already responded to the allegations, but didn’t necessarily deny them. It’s unclear if these reports will have any impact on his latest release date of January 2028.
