After having read Brett Hansen's book The Belief Machine, I have been contemplative lately. But instead of getting wound up with my thoughts, facing the world more cynically caffeinated, I've slowed down and let it go. Perhaps its the changing weather here, the kids starting school, going to soccer practice & games, prepping the house for the winter, thinking of Fall things. I love this time of year. So I feel like I'm done worrying about the grind and to allow my mental judo to simply step aside, let the drama pass by, take on no entanglements, make some soup and keep stacking.

My guest today is Skot, the instigator of the Bitaxe project and who is on the board of the 256 Foundation, building out the open-source Bitcoin mining ecosystem. Like Bitcoin itself, Bitaxe is fully open source with an onboard controller that lets you mine Bitcoin directly over Wi-Fi and is easily configured through the AxeOS dashboard. You know that it's good to "get out and touch grass." My guest today goes out to touch clay. Contemporary ceramic artist Dimitria Barrows spent a decade working fulltime in the art industry — at Gagosian, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, among others — handling exhibitions, sales, and artists’ studios — a blast from the past — before returning to her own practice in 2024. Now Barrows makes ceramics, including functional sculptural vessels. Based in Zug, Switzerland — known as Crypto Valley — Barrows creates handmade stoneware ceramics — vases and vessels exploring value formation in internet memes, crypto culture, economics, onchain dynamics. Barrows bridges the contemporary art scene with Bitcoin. Each artwork is unique, boldly glazed, and created with utility in mind — it mirrors how we assign (and verify) worth, a question she watched play out in blue-chip galleries and now watches play out onchain. Barrows’ artworks are NFC-chipped and onchain-registered; these conceptual ceramics exist as physical-digital twins. Barrows graduated from Zurich University of the Arts, ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) in Zurich with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2015. Bitcoin Video Magazine Issue #2 has been released! Producer Tim Tayshun has been putting hisyears of experience and hard work into this effort, part of the mission to orange pill the world and educate fellow plebs. Like a crazy fool, he bought his first bit of bitcoin on April Fool's Day of 2013, attended his first meetup a year later, and studied everything available about Bitcoin at the time. He started putting out the first Bitcoin ATMS in California and attended his first Bitcoin conference, The North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami, in January 2015. He closely followed the PayCoin saga and became intimately aware of the scams growing at this time, including the OneCoin ponzi scam.
