Anthropic IPO Reveals $46B Run Rate, Microsoft Cuts 27% of Staff & Americans Reject CEO Pay Gaps

October 27, 2026: I unpack Anthropic's IPO filing showing revenue that jumped from under $1 billion a quarter last year to $11.6 billion this quarter, why Wall Street is valuing the company at up to $2 trillion despite $80 billion in reported losses that are mostly accounting charges tied to how they raised money, and what it means when more than half the Fortune 500 are paying six figures or more but spending less than 0.1% of their operating budgets on AI. Then I get into Microsoft offering voluntary buyouts to 60,000 employees including teams in Xbox, Windows, Copilot, and Finance while excluding data centers and sales, why this is a trade of buildings and chips in and people out as the company spends $175 billion on AI infrastructure this year, and why I think we're about to see a massive influx in hiring for communication, PR, and marketing roles because companies are doing a terrible job explaining what AI means to employee. Finally, I look at a Bentley University and Gallup survey showing 84% of Americans say companies should avoid big pay gaps between CEOs and employees but only 15% think their companies are doing a good job of it, why I don't think you should ever care how much your CEO makes as long as you're being paid what you're worth, and the four situations where pay gaps actually do matter. I break down when the explanation doesn't match the decision, when accountability only runs in one direction, when your pay doesn't match your worth, and when leaders' incentives shape your daily life, and why Elon Musk's pay package tied to goals like hitting $8.5 trillion valuation and delivering 1 million humanoid robots shows what happens when compensation is structured around ridiculous astronomical milestones that actually get achieved. How to Deal with Difficult People at Work with Amy Gallo

Have you ever seen someone’s name pop up in your inbox and immediately felt frustrated? Before you’ve even read their message, you already have a story about how the interaction will go. I’m joined by Amy Gallo, contributing editor at Harvard Business Review and author of Getting Along: How to Work with Anyone, Even Difficult People, to explore why work relationships can become so difficult and what we might be missing when we’re convinced the other person is the problem. From the conversations we avoid to the feedback that doesn’t land as expected, we explore the messy human dynamics leaders navigate every day. In this episode, we explore: Why certain people push our buttons What if we’re the difficult person? The fear of making a relationship worse Defensiveness, tears and the poker face when receiving feedback What a lack of disagreement might mean for your team How AI could be shaping our expectations of each other Why working across teams can bring a different set of tensions. Watch the full conversation and consider the work relationship or conversation you might approach differently.
