The Birds
It's time for another Patron pick! Thank you Sunday Morning Hotdog for this one! The threat of the Cold War and the cultural tensions of the 1960s loom large in this Hitchcock horror classic! Manhunter
One of the best movies we've reviewed in a while, Manhunter is the first of many adaptations of the Hannibal Lecter novels. It did poorly in the box office, but has had a resurgence as a well loved cult movie! Check out bonus YOMP content on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/yompcast Learn more about your ad choices. The Fast and the Furious - Video Episode
It's another video episode! This week is a fun one! It's one of Gee's all time favourites and exactly the kind of movie Sophie hates! Whether or not you like the movie, the TEA between Vin Diesel and The Rock is hilarious! Check out bonus YOMP content on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/yompcast Learn more about your ad choices. Manic - Video Episode!
We're back with another Patreon submission, and a video episode! Thank you everyone for your support and DrgnMstrAdam for the movie suggestion! Manic follows a group of emotionally damaged teens in a psych ward and has a lot of heavy themes. It's most definitely NOT a fun one, but some viewers have really connected with the movie's uncomfortably honest depiction of mental illness. Total Recall
It's another Arnie classic! Loosely based on a 1966 short story by Philip K. Dick, Total Recall is an awesome sci-fi action movie with some incredible practical effects and great hammy action. It's a maze of lost memories and false memories, and we can't agree on whether or not it really happened! Let us know what you think? The Italian Job
It's the first of our Patreon submissions! Huge thanks to CaptainGrezza for submitting this movie that we probably never would have picked on our own, and for wonderfully articulating why you picked it! This movie is an all-time British classic that is nostalgic for a lot of people who grew up with it, but as neither of us hold that nostalgia, how will it hold up? Westworld (1973)
Not the series, but the 1973 movie! Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton's fascination with defective theme parks strikes again, exploring the kind of fantasies people will choose to live out in a world they control, and what happens when things go wrong. It's wild to see how well this movie predicted issues around AI today! Check out bonus YOMP content on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/yompcast Learn more about your ad choices. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
After getting through Cool World, how could we NOT watch the far superior toons-in-real-life movie? Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a legendary franchise crossover and a technological marvel, but will it hold up nearly 40 years later? Santa Sangre
This one has a lot to dig into! It's a disturbing surrealist horror movie by Mexican director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Its absurd presentation does service to dark themes of parental trauma, innocence, and repression. This one is not for the faint of heart. Most importantly however, this movie scores great on Bouphe's bingo card! Check out bonus YOMP content on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/yompcast Learn more about your ad choices. 28 Years Later - Short Ones
Hope you're ready for a whole new show! Welcome to the first episode of Short Ones, a series of shorter, snappier reviews of newer films. Best of all, we've got visuals!! This episode we're talking about 28 Years Later, Gee has seen the sequel, Bouphe hasn't, and we've got mixed feelings on it! Did this really need to be two movies?
