Q: How Big is your Lebowski? A: What's a Lebowski? A2: Read on and you'll find out. Maybe... This week it's more talking by ghostly voices of Lee and Chris plus sound effects about a movie that they recast. The Big Lebowski Directed by: Joel Coen Written by: Ethan Coen Stars: Jeffrey Bridges, John Goodman, Steven Buscemi, John Tuturro, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Tara Reid and Sam Elliott also some bowling alleys. Also spotted in this film: Flea and Aimee Mann who appear from the world of music. This movie is loosely based on Raymond Chandler ideas from them 'ol days of Film Noir. (Look it up.) This be a comedy whodunit and great all-around non-stop laugh riot. Chris and Lee really go town and toss a crescent wrench in this one by doing some unnecessary recasting. And who's to stop them. Godzilla? Mothra? or Sasquatch(fake) or The Bigfeets. (possibly) Actually only a death ray from the gray aliens from Alpha Centauri could possibly stop this podcast but since they cut the podcast deal in White Sands in 1966 all is well. Sort of... Are you a Parent? Did you have a Parent? Have you ever spotted a Parent in the Wild? I have. Weird. Perhaps you are familiar. Well, get ready to be more familiar with this word. Parenthood. It has a nice ring to it, don't it. Makes you think of people with kids. Mostly. To some parenthood is a serious job to other parents it's a word that is just that. A word. Whose side are you on? Be honest. Or not. Because we absolutely will not or will ever take this topic or the fine Arte of recasting seriously. High Plains Drifter - Ep. 54
The West was tough. The West was brutal. The West was just plain Westerly. You know it and I know it. But for me, only very recently did I know.... 'High Plains Drifter', not only an informal greeting to someone in the new frontier. It's also a movie. All jokes aside, if there are any. High Plains Drifter was directed by and starred Clint Eastwood and other various actors from the Hollywood scene. At that time. Also, it has come to our attention that the recasting abilities of Chris and Lee have come under fire, not only from the listeners of mostly this podcast, but also the hosts have said so. Lee is very much 'shooting from the hip' or 'phoning it in' on more than on occasion. Also, it is possible that he may, at times, not know at all what he's talking about. After a serious inquiry he claims not knowing what's going on is a 'lifestyle choice.' Chris's response was a chuckle/grumbling sound. Lee also co-signed this response by singing a fake German lullaby. Upon reading this, you might have some deep questions about life or why you're even reading this. This movie is about a drifting cowboy who dislikes whips less than other humans. His main form of communication is shooting folks. And the townsfolk love it. You choose has the star power. Word of caution: Choose wisely. Here's the names: Ralph Fiennes, Angela Bassett, Juliette Lewis, Tom Sizemore and Vincent D'Onofrio. One of the writers was the guy who wrote the big, big movie about the big sinking boat. Strange Days is about an enterprising entrepreneur who lives in a violent America in the future: 1999!? What? That don't make no sense. That's because it was made in 1995, silly! Prepared to be shocked- because in this future US of the A there's no internet!! What they got right: Ultra-violence all the way from the common man all the way to the top head honcho POTUS and military joens driving around any old doing shoot em ups all harem scarum!! So it was up to Chris and Lee to make sense of this gobbledegook and re-cast the heck out of it! Listen in and decide if you agree or disagree with their recasting choices. Heyyyy TCR listeners!! Remember LPs? Remember Employee Picks? Phonograph needles? Remember 45 RPMs? Remember the 5th of November? I sure don't. But this week Lee and Chris are going to recast a movie called: High Fidelity which is about a morose manager of a record store based on a British book of the same name by Nick Hornby and then re-tooled by them Star Spangler's Yanks into a movie show. It was directed by: Stephen Freers And stars: John Cusack, Jack Black and others. Yes, we recast...movies in this podcast... However- It's not because the original movie makers didn't do a good job the first time around but because we are oftentimes unfocused and not really committed to this podcast format. Heat - Ep. 43
Heat... because there is no other way. Got it? I'm kidding. I was coming in 'hot' so to speak. So, in the late 1600's when the Earth was discovered and then settled- moviemaking began. It was tedious at first and many lost their lives and later some lost their lunch. But... it was on one of those tumultuous evenings after several fatal pratfalls and lethal plot devices, casting was discovered. Soon re-casting became the main game in town. Well, one of them. Then what seemed like eons but was actually about 15 minutes later the first podcast was invented. Long before radio, TV or even fire was discovered. Today's modern world may laugh surreptitously at a world without podcasts or Pokémon. And ponder at what exactly the word surreptitiously means. And to this day, no one really knows. And then one day... Re-casting just happened. And God said "Yes" Leigh and Kriss talk a lot this week. And at some point, during all the talking, as if by magic, their re-casting of the movie Heat is discussed. Only a very select few have the rare talent or gift to do what these two guys can do. Michael Mann directed it. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro acted in it. Chrisp and Leek re-casted it. This movie is about two gun crazy fools. Both are from opposite sides of the law but very much in love with, guns, hanging out with groups of guys that get killed and ultimately they fall in love with each other AND their very different powerhouse styles of American acting. It's that time again. That time of year. When we all can stop and think, smell the flowers or just plain stop. Don't you feel better? Good. Before the internet craze; there was a movie that inspired cybercrime before today's world of fear based and impulse buying of crapola at the mere tap of a smart device button.. And no, that movie was not UHF. It was Sneakers. This movie stars Robert Redford, Dan Akyroyd, Sidney Potier, plus other BIG NAMES. Phil Alden Robinson directed it. Based on that, Cee and Lhris chose it to recast. They literally spent minutes to decide on which movie to recast for your listening enjoyment. So gather 'round and listen up to a movie get recasted that is not about shoes. We sure were surprised to find that outl And obviously relieved, of course. PRO TIP: You'll want to relieve yourself before listening to this one for added comfort. FOR ADDED FUN: Have the person with the best hearing to do a joke tally. This week- LEEC AND CRRIS investigate LA Confidential and officially disclose their casting ideas about how to safely recast this classic film. Without any probing or radiation. Wellll... not that much. Although.... You may: Experience missing time after listening to this episode. About forty-five minutes worth, give or take a few minutes. Directed by Curtis Hanson. It's (this movie) is about a cop who is disenchanted and crestfallen after he learns that there might be some corruption in local city governmental agencies like the LAPD. There are other people you might spot in this movie that are involved in the skull-duggary in the 'film noir' tradition. Or maybe they aren't involved??? (Check your local internet for disclosure of term film noir.) OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE: Was this film filmed on Earth? Possibly. Do you believe that Hollywood exists? Maybe. Wayward Extraterrestrials play hide and seek with the military, scientists and electricians and other bumpkins in the midwest. These out-of-towers kidnap kids and sunburn other people's faces and drive 'em all plum loco. These Aliens dig partying in their fancy pants spaceships that are all blinged out and Rooty toot toot!! They do this in the 'Hellzapoppin' Tradition'. In the end, they end up taking with them an unemployed deadbeat dad who will probably wind up whippin' their flimsy skinny asses in the end. But the movie cuts off before we even see that intergalactic smackdown. Which would have been great. Whatever.... Richard basically says goodbye to his girl in this semi-sequel to the Goodbye Girl. Bam! Oh no he di-ent! This movie stars Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr and a bunch of other people.
