    TPM024 - Wahl des Betriebssystems Jeder Computer benötigt es: ein Betriebssystem. Doch nicht nur bei neuen Geräten besteht die Qual der Wahl. Auch ältere Notebooks können entweder mit zeitgenössischen Betriebssystemen oder aktuellen Linux-Distributionen und spannenden Nischenbetriebssystemen verwendet werden. Bei Linux entscheidet vor allem die Auswahl des Desktops und der Anwendungsprogramme über die Schwuppdizität.     TPM023 - News: MWC 2026 und weitere neue Modelle

    TPM023 - News: MWC 2026 und weitere neue Modelle Lenovo hat auf dem MWC 2026 neben einem Designkonzept auch mehrere neue ThinkPads vorgestellt: neben dem T14 Gen 6, T14s Gen 7 und T16 Gen 5 wurden auch das T14s 2-in-1 Gen 2 und X13 Detachable vorgestellt. Im Internet tauchte parallel unerwartet ein neues Modell mit dem Namen X14 auf. Auch nach der Konferenz wurden weitere neue T-, P-, X- und L-Modelle vorgestellt - bei einem wird erstmalig der Tastenhub wieder erhöht. Das T14 Gen 6 AMD schneidet im ersten Test gut ab. Ein experimentelles Notebookgehäuse mit zweitem Display erinnert an ein früheres W-Modell.     TPM020 - Docking Stationen Docking Stationen waren früher ein Feature, welches Business-Geräte von Consumer-Hardware differenzierte. Seit 1992 wurden über 100 solcher Erweiterungen produziert - mit teils sehr unterschiedlichen Konzepten. Neben simplen Port Replicatoren gab es auch wuchtige Gehäuse, die Notebooks zu vollwertigen PCs machten. Qualcomm hat ein neues ARM-SoC vorgestellt, während es weiterhin schlecht um den Linux-Support des X1E steht. Erste Testberichte der AMD ThinkPads T14 Gen 6 und T16 Gen 4 sind aufgetaucht, während Windows 1.0 und der Intel Pentium 4-Prozessor Jubiläen feiern.     TPM019 - Active Protection System (feat. Evgeni Golov) 2003 stellte IBM mit dem Active Protection System eine Technik vor, die Festplatten vor Fallschäden schützt. Durch kontinuierliche Überwachung der Notebookposition erlaubt es diese Stürze vorab zu erkennen und fatale Headcrashes zu vermeiden. Zusammen mit Evgeni Golov, dem langjährigen Maintainer der Linux-Implementation, besprechen wir die technischen Details der tp_smapi- und hdapsd-Projekte. Diese haben nicht nur einen praktischen Nutzen sondern laden auch zu kreativen Einsatzzwecken ein. Windows 95 und DirectX feiern 30-jähriges Bestehen.     TPM017 - 5xx-Serie

    TPM017 - 5xx-Serie Die 5xx-Serie gilt als einer der Vorgänger der heutigen X-Serie. Zwischen 1993 und 2001 wurden 8 ultraportable Geräte produziert - 4 davon ausschließlich für den asiatischen Markt. Einer spannenden Kollaboration mit Canon entsprangen gleich 2 Laptops mit integriertem Drucker. Im Museum sind mit einem X1, zwei T30, einem T400s und einer Dock 2631 neue Geräte aufgenommen worden. Das Sommerloch ist bei den News ausgeblieben: erste Testberichte des E14 G7, E16 G3 und T14s 2-in-1 G1 sind aufgetaucht.     TPM015 - Tastaturen Früher waren sie ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal und auch heute assoziiert man sie immer noch mit ThinkPads: Tastaturen. Zusammen mit Philipp vom CCH-Podcast steigen wir in einen tiefen Kaninchenbau und werfen einen Blick auf die Tastatur-Geschichte und beleuchten die Veränderungen der ThinkPad-Tastaturen im Laufe der Jahre.     TPM014 - Jubiläumsmodelle

    TPM014 - Jubiläumsmodelle Seit 1992 sind viele ThinkPad-Modelle erschienen. Besonders auffällig sind jedoch die exklusiven 5 Jubiläumsmodelle, die seit 2001 erschienen sind und teilweise viel Liebe zum Detail aufweisen. Im Museum gab es 5 Neuzugänge (R60, R60e, X1 Carbon G1, Edge 11, Yoga 11e G6). Lenovo hat ein Leistungsupgrade für das X1 Carbon G13 vorgestellt und auch das kommende P14s G6 verspricht einen satten Boost.     TPM009 - UltraBay Die UltraBay dürfte wohl zu den auffälligsten Merkmalen zahlreicher ThinkPads gehören. Zwischen 1993 und 2017 wurden insgesamt 14 Iterationen des beliebten Wechselmodulslots vorgestellt. Neben optischen Laufwerken und üblichen Festplatten-Adaptern gab es auch nischige Adapter und kuriose Peripherie. Es gibt ein kleines Update zum Linux-Support von Qualcomms Snapdragon X1 Elite und das L16 Gen 1 AMD schneidet in einem ersten Testbericht gut ab.     TPM008 - 3xx-Serie

    TPM008 - ThinkPad 3xx-Serie Der Konferenzsommer und die Urlaubszeit sind vorbei, Zeit für eine neue Episode! Die ThinkPad 3xx-Serie stand von 1992 bis 2000 für preisgünstigere Geräte und war der Vorgänger der A-Serie. Die meisten der 15 produzierten Notebooks hatten das exakte DIN A4-Maß. Neben reichlich verwirrenden Varianten und Modellbezeichnungen gab es auch kuriose Multimedia-Extras. Lenovo hat auf der IFA 2024 mit dem X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition ein besonders edles und teures Ultrabook vorgestellt. Das ThinkPad-Museum war auf zwei Konferenzen und in einem Podcast zu Gast und hat neben eurem Feedback auch neue Geräte mitgebracht.     TPM006 - IBM ThinkPad 700

    TPM006 - IBM ThinkPad 700 Das ThinkPad 700 steht nicht nur für das erste ThinkPad, sondern auch für die gleichnamige Serie, die auch ein Modell mit Farbbildschirm (700C) und ein Slate-Tablet (700T) beinhaltet. Neben einer bewegten Entwicklungsgeschichte stehen die Geräte bereits für die klare Designsprache von Richard Sapper. Lenovo hat mit dem P1 G7 das erste ThinkPad mit LPCAMM2-RAM vorgestellt, das P14s G5 bekommt nun bis zu 96 GB RAM. Darüber hinaus wurden das P16s G3 und P16v G2 angekündigt - letzteres mit dem vermutlich hellsten ThinkPad-Display aller Zeiten. Als Highlight kann nun das T14s G6 mit einem Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite-SoC vorbestellt werden.
