⭐️ BONUS EPISODE ⭐️ S07E02 About United
This week on The Tiny Pod, in honour of last week's 81st UN General Assembly, is all About United. The word united is past tense, implying unity, unison, union has already been achieved, but unions, and all relationships are active, and continuously in flux. The moment we stop actively pursuing unity, disunity naturally creeps in. United is often used politically as a tool to both imply unity has been achieved, and to silence dissent and discourage inquiry. United in the context of United Nations, United Kingdom and United States is both aspirational and misleading. As we explore what United means in political unions, we also discover what is true in any union, whether marriage, parenting or friendship, States, governments or organisations. Unity requires continuous review, negotiation and compromise. Relationships are alive and active, and although united is not a constant state, it can be touched through commitment and active participation, and can last if continuously pursued. Families can bee united and yet have no sense of unity. Countries can be united against a common cause, while still disagreeing on others, and states can question the validity or strength of a union whilst still staying in that union. United is not unanimous agreement, it is what it always meant, an agreement to join together, to bring different parts into one cohesive whole, and that can only be done in truth. The obvious disunity at the UN this year was arguably the most honest reflection of the state of the United Nations, and it is in honesty that true unity can begin to be found.
