Ohio State vs Indiana Preview: Jeremiah Smith Makes His Heisman Trophy Case | THE SCRIPT

Jeremiah Smith had a "quiet" day in Ohio State football's 45-16 win over Maryland — 4 catches, 93 yards, 2 touchdowns — and still took over the game. On this episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells and Dave Holmes break down why the Buckeyes wide receiver is the most dangerous playmaker in college football and a legit Heisman Trophy frontrunner. Ohio State beat Maryland to stay unbeaten, but 8 penalties and 2 turnovers made it sloppy. That won't fly this week in Bloomington. Ohio State heads on the road for a massive Big Ten showdown with Indiana, a rematch of last season's loss with huge College Football Playoff implications on the line. The guys break down Ohio State's defense, why the pass rush has to pressure Indiana QB Josh Hoover into turnovers, and how the Buckeyes have to win the line of scrimmage and the turnover battle. With Indiana set to bracket Jeremiah Smith in coverage, Ohio State will need the run game and a WR2 to step up. Can the Buckeyes clean up the penalties, control the trenches, and leave Bloomington with a statement road win? Plus, the guys react to Marvin Harrison being traded to Houston to reunite with CJ Stroud. Will Julian Sayin Make the Leap in Year 2? 7 OSU Captains?! Top 12 CFP Teams. CFB is a Mess.

The Script is back with Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells and Dave Holmes breaking down the biggest Ohio State football stories of the week. The Buckeyes have named seven team captains for the 2026 season, including quarterback Julian Sayin. Is seven captains too many, and what does Sayin earning that honor say about the next step he is taking as Ohio State’s leader? The guys discuss the rave reviews from camp, his growth in Ryan Day’s offense and why the Buckeyes are banking on a major year 2 leap from their quarterback. Then, college football’s eligibility rules get even more ridiculous. With former NFL players potentially returning to college, Cardale, Beanie and Dave react to the latest development and what it could mean for the sport moving forward. Plus, the crew builds its 12-team College Football Playoff field before the season kicks off. Which teams are locks, which contenders are being overlooked, and where do Ohio State, Texas, LSU, Penn State and Michigan fit? They also examine whether Michigan’s pursuit of Drew Mestemaker means the Wolverines are losing faith in Bryce Underwood. Finally, the guys react to Deshaun Watson’s struggles, his response to Browns fans, and why Cleveland’s quarterback situation remains a mess before saluting Nick Chubb and his legendary football career. #OhioStateFootball #Buckeyes #CollegeFootball #CFBPlayoff #JulianSayin #CardaleJones #BeanieWells #ClevelandBrowns #NickChubb #DeshaunWatson #michiganfootball 00:00 The Script begins 00:40 Ohio State names seven captains 05:56 Julian Sayin’s Year 2 leap 10:45 College football eligibility rules are out of control 18:04 Building the 12-team College Football Playoff 35:31 Is Michigan losing faith in Bryce Underwood? 42:35 Deshaun Watson, Browns fans and Cleveland’s QB mess 50:09 Saluting Nick Chubb’s legendary career Thank you to our sponsors: Dr Pepper - It's a Pepper Thing! Ohio State #1, Senior Day Changes, Michigan Meltdown, NFL Buckeyes Thrive | The Script

Cardale Jones is fresh off a visit to Ohio State training camp, and he’s got plenty to say about what he saw from the Buckeyes. On this episode of The Script, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells and Dave Holmes break down the biggest Ohio State football storylines as the 2026 season gets closer. Cardale gives his firsthand impressions from Buckeyes camp, including what he saw from Julian Sayin, Tavien St. Clair and the Ohio State defense. The guys also react to Ohio State being ranked No. 1 in the AP preseason poll for the first time since 2015 — and debate how much preseason rankings actually matter. Then, a major Ohio State tradition is changing. Senior Day is moving to the season opener against Ball State, rather than the final home game, sparking a passionate reaction from Cardale and Beanie about what Senior Day means to Buckeye players. Plus, Michigan keeps talking. Bryce Underwood calls Ohio State “just another game,” while Kyle Whittingham continues to downplay the hatred in college football’s biggest rivalry. The crew explains why Michigan might want to reconsider that approach. Could Ohio State also have a backup quarterback controversy brewing between Tavien St. Clair and freshman Luke Fahey? Finally, we check in on former Buckeyes making noise during the NFL preseason, including Caden Curry, Will Howard, Jack Sawyer and Marvin Harrison Jr. Subscribe for more Ohio State Buckeyes football coverage from The Script. 00:00 INTRO 01:00 Cardale at camp 03:00 Ohio State #1 AP Poll 04:45 Senior Day changes 12:00 Michigan says OSU is just another game 17:45 Michigan NFL Draft busts 23:00 Camp battles and update 35:45 Jayden Daniels LOL Thank you to our sponsors: Dr Pepper - It's a Pepper Thing! Ohio State football training camp is heating up, and The Script presented by Dr Pepper is breaking down the biggest questions surrounding the Buckeyes as the season approaches. In this episode, Beanie Wells, Cardale Jones and Dave Holmes dive into the latest from Ohio State camp, starting with the Buckeyes’ running back room. Is a running back by committee the right approach, or will one player emerge as the clear No. 1 option? The crew discusses the competition, what Ohio State needs from the position and which backs could make an early impact. Also, does Legend Bey’s early suspension mean anything, or is it much ado about nothing? The conversation then turns to the Ohio State defense and a defensive backfield that could become one of the team’s biggest strengths. The guys discuss the talent in the secondary, including players making noise in camp and what that group could mean for the Buckeyes this season. Plus, there’s concern about the Ohio State kicking game. Baylor transfer Connor Hawkins arrived with high expectations, but missed kicks in practice have raised questions. How much should Buckeye fans worry, and can Ryan Day create enough game-like pressure in camp to know what his kickers will do on Saturdays? Plus, J.T. Barrett is elected to the Ohio State Hall of Fame, JSN and Jeremiah Smith earn coveted 99 video game ratings, and the Buckeyes land another elite prep quarterback for the future. Buckeyes Stay Hot Recruiting, David Gabriel Georges & Jett Harrison, Cardale's Video Game Story 🤣

On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones and host Dave Holmes are back with another entertaining and informative show. We kick things off with a game of “Where’s Beanie?” as Beanie Wells is out enjoying some time on the golf course. From there, we react to the United States’ disappointing loss to Belgium and discuss the controversy surrounding the rescinded red card. That leads to a conversation with Cardale about the toughest officiating call he experienced during his football career and a time he felt his team was on the wrong end of a referee’s decision. The recruiting trail remains HOT in Columbus as Ohio State continues building for the future—not just in the 2027 class, but also in 2028 and 2029. We break down the Buckeyes’ latest recruiting wins, including the additions of 5-star wide receiver Jett Harrison and another elite young pass catcher from the 2029 class. Plus, we provide an update on Ohio State target David Gabriel Georges and discuss why his recruitment may be unlike any running back prospect we’ve seen before. After diving into recruiting and NIL, we shift gears to the newly released EA SPORTS College Football 27 player ratings. We take a look at where the Buckeyes stack up against other national title contenders and Heisman hopefuls. Cardale also shares what it was like seeing himself in the game during his playing days—and tells the hilarious story of what really happened when he faced off against a young fan in a hospital gaming showdown. To close out the show, we look around the sports world as several Buckeyes make headlines. We discuss Ohio State’s representation in the MLB All-Star Game, Bruce Thornton’s next step in Houston, and give a well-deserved shoutout to Kelsey Mitchell for earning a starting spot in the WNBA All-Star Game. Ohio State Recruiting Camp, Jett Harrison, Top QBs. Bo Jackson Snubbed by ESPN, Dusty May Gone

On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes are back with another loaded show. Dave returns from Seattle just in time to celebrate Team USA advancing to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup, and we find out that both Cardale and Beanie are fully on board the USA soccer bandwagon. After talking fútbol, the conversation shifts back to football as Ohio State welcomed several elite recruits to Columbus last weekend, including some of the top quarterbacks and prospects in the country. We break down the biggest visitors, who stood out the most, and what it could mean for the Buckeyes’ future, including discussions on Jett Harrison and Brady Edmunds. Presented by Buckeye Basement Solutions, the guys react to Ryan Day’s recent comments about Ohio State needing to improve in fourth-quarter situations. Cardale and Beanie share their perspective on what it takes to finish games and how the Buckeyes can be better in crunch time this season. Later, the crew debates whether Bo Jackson was snubbed after ESPN left him out of its top 10 running backs list. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments if Bo belongs among the game's great backs. Then, thanks to KEMBA Financial Credit Union, we revisit Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby and discuss whether he has what it takes to hear his name called in the NFL Supplemental Draft. Ohio State All-Americans, Sayin Snubbed? Cardale & Beanie Glory Days Stories, Browns Tank?

On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes kick things off by breaking down Phil Steele’s Preseason All-American teams, where six Buckeyes earned recognition. Who made the cut, who got snubbed, and should Julian Sayin be ranked even higher? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. The conversation then turns to one of Cardale’s favorite debates: should he have three national championship rings instead of one? It’s a discussion the guys have had plenty of times off-camera, and this time they’re bringing it to the show. Agree or disagree, you won’t want to miss this one. Thanks to our friends at KEMBA Financial Credit Union, we also dive into the latest Ohio State recruiting news. Which top prospects are trending toward Columbus, and in today’s NIL era, can any recruit truly be considered a lock? Later, the guys check in on Ohio’s NFL teams, where the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation remains as complicated as ever. With Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders reportedly splitting reps, Cardale and Beanie discuss what the Browns should do moving forward. Thanks to Buckeye Basement Solutions, we ask the big question: Watson, Shedeur, or tank for Julian Sayin? The show also celebrates Ryan Day after his induction into the New Hampshire Sports Hall of Fame. That leads to a fun conversation about coaching, leadership, and whether it’s easier for players to take direction from someone who’s been in their shoes. To close things out, Cardale and Beanie take a trip down memory lane, sharing some legendary high school football stories from their playing days that you won’t hear anywhere else. Big Ten vs. SEC: Which Conference Is Really Better? Transfer Limits, Salary Caps & Sorsby Drama

On this week's episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes are back after a two-week hiatus—and we didn't come empty-handed. Thanks to our new sponsor, KEMBA Financial Credit Union, we've got fresh shoes, new merch, and even a custom cake. You'll have to watch on YouTube to see it for yourself. That's right—THE SCRIPT is celebrating Season 2 with a new sponsor, and we're grateful for all of our partners, including KEMBA Financial Credit Union, Dr Pepper, and Buckeye Basement Solutions. We kick things off with the biggest debate in college football: the courtroom battles shaping the future of the sport. Should there be transfer limits? A salary cap? Restrictions on coach poaching? We break down all the offseason drama and take a hard look at the growing push for regulation. We also discuss Nick Saban's recent comments on player compensation and whether it's fair for coaches who benefited from the old system to now advocate for limits on athlete earnings. Later, we dive into SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey's claim that the SEC remains the best conference in America. We aren't buying it. Is the SEC still the unquestioned king of college football, or are those days over? We also discuss the conference finally moving away from late-season cupcake games in 2027 and what that means for the sport. Thanks to KEMBA Financial Credit Union, we check in on some major local headlines, including the Cleveland Browns trading future Hall of Fame defensive lineman Myles Garrett. Did Cleveland get enough in return, or is it another questionable move by the Browns? The conversation then shifts to Texas Tech quarterback Brandon Sorsby, his gambling controversy, and his eligibility status. After reports surfaced that he wagered thousands of dollars on his own team, we discuss why he's still eligible to play and whether college football is sending the wrong message. Sponsored by our friends at Buckeye Basement Solutions, we break down every angle of the story. Finally, Beanie and Cardale are forced to make an impossible choice: if they could only pick one Ohio State quarterback of all time, who would it be? Plus, will the Chicago Bears really leave Illinois and move to Northwest Indiana? All that and much more on THE SCRIPT! #sports #football #NFL #nfldraft Thank you to our sponsors: Dr Pepper - It's a Pepper Thing! On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes welcome legendary Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer to the show! Coach Meyer — now co-host of The Triple Option alongside Rob Stone and Mark Ingram — joins the guys for an unforgettable conversation filled with stories, laughs, and plenty of Buckeye football talk. The episode kicks off with Coach Meyer immediately getting on Cardale for showing up late, making it very clear that wouldn’t have flown during his time at Ohio State. Naturally, the crew also revisits Cardale’s infamous “We ain’t come here to play school” tweet and what Meyer thought about it at the time. The guys also ask Coach Meyer what he really thought after J.T. Barrett’s injury in 2014 and whether he believed Cardale could lead Ohio State to a national championship. His answer might surprise you. Later, Beanie asks where the 2014 Buckeyes rank among the best teams Coach Meyer ever coached. Of course, the rivalry comes up as the crew discusses Meyer’s undefeated record against Michigan and whether that stands as his proudest accomplishment in Columbus. The conversation then shifts to the Wolverines as Coach Meyer shares his thoughts on his longtime friend Kyle Whittingham reportedly taking over in Ann Arbor. The crew also gets Coach Meyer’s take on the proposed 24-team College Football Playoff. Is expansion getting out of control, or is bigger actually better for the sport? After the interview, Cardale, Beanie, and Dave react to Arvell Reese calling the moment he lost his black stripe the greatest feeling of his football career. That leads to a fun conversation about the defining moments from Cardale and Beanie’s own Ohio State careers. To close out the show, the guys react to CBS Sports ranking the top defensive players in college football — with zero Buckeyes making the list. They discuss which Ohio State defenders are primed for breakout seasons under new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
