Michael Desronvil: The Holdout Juror Who Forced the Lindsay Clancy Mistrial

Trump’s Judge Blocks Trump’s Mail-Ballot Rule | Who Runs the Election?
Send us Fan Mail Last night at 11:53 p.m., U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols signed a 24-page memorandum opinion in DSCC v. Trump. He granted a preliminary injunction blocking the Postal Service’s final rule, “Ballot Mail for Federal Elections.” That rule grew out of Executive Order 14399. It required USPS-approved envelopes and a new Federal Ballot Mail Portal. States would upload mail-voter data. Ballots would go only to people on a State-specific Mail-in and Absentee Participant List. No portal entry, no delivery. In May, the same judge refused to block the executive order because no final rule existed yet. After USPS published the rule in late August, the plaintiffs came back. Nichols granted the freeze. His holding is narrow and statutory. The government conceded USPS can issue the rule only if Congress authorized it. Nichols found no statute that lets the Postal Service impose election procedures on states, stand up a voter data system, or refuse otherwise lawful ballot mail. The Postal Reorganization Act covers moving the mail. It does not cover running a national absentee gate. He rejected the comparison to rules for cremated remains and replica explosives. He also found the timing too late. Early ballots are already in the pipeline. The record, he wrote, shows the rule would make mail voting harder and raise the risk that lawful absentee ballots never get counted. The administration did not put in evidence of significant fraud that would justify the disruption. This is not a final trial verdict. It is a preliminary injunction. A separate Boston injunction is already at the Supreme Court. Until a higher court says otherwise, November mail ballots run under existing state rules — not the new postal portal. Send us Fan Mail 🚨 Meta $18 Billion Teen Addiction Settlement Explained | Florida Rejects the Deal | The Ryan Samuels Show Meta Platforms settled a landmark multistate lawsuit over Facebook and Instagram harms to children for up to $18 billion. The deal ended a federal trial in Oakland after only eight days of testimony. Meta will pay states over ten years and add default two-hour daily time limits for users under 18, overnight blocks from midnight to 6 a.m., school-hour notification limits, stronger age assurance, and more parental controls on Instagram and Facebook. Meta denies all wrongdoing. CEO Mark Zuckerberg did not testify. Stock rose after the announcement because the payout is far below the hundreds of billions states had floated at trial. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier refused to join. He called the settlement peanuts, a slap on the wrist, and a rounding error for a company worth about $1.5 trillion — weeks of revenue, not real accountability. Florida’s own case against Meta continues. Uthmeier said today from The Villages that if Meta treats the offer like an insult, they will fight in a Florida courtroom. Key witness Arturo Béjar, a former Meta safety engineer who briefed Zuckerberg for years, says the agreement does not make the product safer. His line: limiting teens to two hours a day is like saying you can smoke as many cigarettes as you want in two hours. It does not make the cigarettes safer. Béjar calls much of the new package safety theater. What parents need to know tonight: • The two-hour cap is a default, not a hard lock — a parent can turn it off • Night mode and school-hour mute are useful if you actually use them • Likes and some beauty filters can be hidden by default for teens • TikTok and YouTube are being pressured to match or Meta’s extra billions may not fully pay out • Individual families and school districts still have thousands of pending cases This episode breaks down the money, the product changes, the Florida holdout, the whistleblower critique, and what this means for parental rights versus Big Tech design.
