The Receiving Edge

Sarah Blackah

Life doesn't always unfold the way we imagined.

You might be standing at the edge of a new beginning, grieving something that has ended, or carrying both at once, living in the space between what was and who you're becoming. That space can feel lonely, and it's where most of real life happens.

Sarah Blackah calls it the Receiving Edge. It's where our deepest desires meet God's invitation, the place where longing, obedience, hope and surrender all live at once, and where even the hardest seasons can become a doorway to something good and true and beautiful.

The Receiving Edge is a podcast about learning to trust God with what matters most while the story is still unfolding. Through long-form conversations, powerful testimonies and honest solo reflections, Sarah explores how ordinary people kept trusting God when life went differently than they planned. Love and marriage. Motherhood, fertility and family. Calling, creativity and stewardship. Health and healing. Provision, wealth and legacy. Community and belonging. Grief.

Underneath all of it sits one question: can God be trusted with the deepest desires of our hearts?

Sarah is hosting this from the middle of her own story. For more than a decade she built global communities, led teams and created multiple seven figures in health and wellness. Then a life quake took apart the certainty she had built her life on, and sent her back to the questions she had spent years outrunning. What is true? What am I building my life on? Why do I feel so far from the thing that matters most to me? She's still in it, and that's exactly where these conversations happen.

Whether you're longing for a relationship, waiting for a baby, navigating a career pivot, rebuilding after loss, chasing a dream, or quietly sensing that God is inviting you into something deeper, you're welcome here. This is a place to put down the performance, embrace being human, and take the next faithful step while the story is still unfolding.

Every episode ends with the same question: what Receiving Edge are you standing at right now, and what's the next faithful step you're being invited to take?

New episodes weekly.

Redefining Ageing: Fitter, Stronger & Sexier After 40 with Sheree Amador

She was told as a child that everything goes downhill after 40, and she decided otherwise. Sheree Amador is 49, a mother of five, and a health and fitness coach for women over 40. Her youngest two arrived in her mid-forties, neither of them planned, and she describes her forties as the toughest and strongest decade she has had. The conversation looks at how much of what women expect from ageing is a story they learned early, and what that story quietly does to their habits. Sheree talks about the basics she keeps coming back to, protein, steps, sleep and weight training in her garage, and about why so many women put themselves last until their forties bring it to a head. Sheree also shares her experience of healthy pregnancies in her mid-40s, and navigating the fear, extra testing and assumptions that can come with maternal age. Sheree is clear there are no guarantees, but encourages women who still hope to have children to understand their individual health, care for their bodies, seek good medical guidance and make informed decisions without letting fear lead the way. She shared many miracle stories she knows of including her own. Sarah and Sheree also talk about feeling strong, healthy and attractive as a mother, having the physical capacity for everyday life, and how being capable doesn’t mean having to do everything yourself. She receives a lot of support from her husband. This one is for anyone who has been told what her age means and has quietly wondered whether it is true. "Whatever you decide, don't do it out of fear. Either way." — Sheree Amador KEY TAKEAWAYS Where her fear of turning 40 first came from The boring basics of strength training for women over 40 Why women over 40 so often put themselves last Pregnancy after 45, and the blessing and fear that was found her What she says to women over 40 still hoping for children Feeling strong, sexy and capable as a mother at 49 FEATURED IDEA The stories we believe about our bodies can shape how we care for them. Growing up, Sheree heard messages that getting older meant inevitable decline. She believes those expectations can quietly influence our choices, from how we move and eat to what we believe is possible for our health. That mindset was challenged again during her pregnancies in her mid-40s, when her age brought additional concern and testing despite feeling healthy and well. Rather than letting fear lead, Sheree chose to focus on what she could influence: her health, strength, nutrition and the way she cared for her body. TIMESTAMPS 0:00 - Welcome, and why this conversation matters now 5:31 - Five kids, two after 45, and stronger than ever at 49 7:17 - The stories we’re told about getting older 8:52 - Protein, strength training and her first baby at 26 11:56 - The fear she carried about getting older 14:20 - What happens to muscle in your 30s and what you can do about it 16:44 - Strength training basics every woman should know 20:10 - Why women often put themselves last 22:05 - Pregnancy after 45 and what it taught her 23:55 - When age becomes the focus in pregnancy 27:30 - For women who still hope to have children 33:20 - Raising toddlers at 49 without losing herself 39:30 - Feeling strong, sexy and capable in your body 42:50 - Healthy ageing and Sheree’s Receiving Edge RESOURCES AND CONNECT ABOUT SHEREE AMADOR Sheree Amador is a health and fitness coach who helps women over 40 build strong, healthy bodies and feel confident in themselves. A mother of five, Sheree is passionate about challenging the narrative around ageing for women. After having two of her children after 45, she's become a powerful example of what's possible in this season of life, with an approach centred around strength training, nutrition and sustainable lifestyle habits. Through her coaching and online community, Sheree helps women become stronger, healthier and more confident in their bodies, while redefining what it can look and feel like to thrive after 40. The Art of Receiving Love, with Sami Wunder

A man once told this dating coach she didn't know how to receive love. Sami Wunder built her coaching practice on a heartbreak. On paper she had every advantage going into dating, education, values, warmth, but her relationships kept ending the same way, until a man she had fallen for went quiet for ten days, then told her afterward that she needed to learn how to let herself be loved. That comment became the seed of the work she has since built for ambitious, high-achieving women. The conversation walks through the patterns Sami sees most often in capable women. Initiating and managing every interaction from a masculine, doing energy. Overgiving as a way to avoid sitting in the discomfort of being given to. Boundaries softened by a fear of seeming rude or high maintenance. She traces each one back to the same root, an old habit of proving worth rather than simply being met. Sarah and Sami also get into where faith fits into all of this, including what Sami says to women who describe themselves as waiting on God to send a husband. The conversation moves through dating app fatigue, the difference between a safety wall and a fortress of unrealistic standards, and what it actually takes for a woman used to earning everything to let a good thing be given to her. "Healthy love is a skill that any woman can learn." — Sami Wunder KEY TAKEAWAYS Why the women most capable of achieving anything struggle to receive love The masculine energy pattern that quietly blocks the men these women want Why overgiving is often discomfort wearing the costume of generosity What healthy boundaries actually look like in the first few dates Why "waiting on God to send him" can be fear in disguise The difference between a safety wall and a fortress in dating standards FEATURED IDEA Receiving is not passive. It is the actual skill blocking these women from the love they say they want. Sami Wunder's framework rests on a single reframe. The high-achieving women she coaches already know how to give, initiate and perform, since that is what built their careers. What most of them have never practiced is staying still long enough to let something good land without immediately doing something to earn it or equalize it. She calls this planet heart, a separate set of rules from the ones that govern friendship, work and family, where matching every gesture actually works against the bond she is trying to build. Learning to receive, in her telling, is the harder and more essential skill. From Freedom Lifestyle to Freedom in Christ, with Kristie Morgan

She built the freedom lifestyle and still could not stop picking her nails. Kristie Morgan quit a corporate job in 2012 with no savings, no plan and existing debt, after reading a book about working four hours a week. Five years of failed businesses followed. A raw food cafe, an eBay store, coaching, money lost that she did not have. Then in 2017 something worked, and she went on to build a global community, a farm retreat property, an investment portfolio and a life that looked from the outside like the one she had left corporate to find. The conversation is about what that cost underneath. Chronic anxiety she had lived with so long she had stopped calling it anxiety. A nervous system running on fight or flight through every launch and every event. A fear of losing it all that she now recognises was driving most of it. She talks about turbulence on a flight home from Dubai and the first prayer she had ever said, about resisting the whole thing for a year afterwards, and about walking into a church for the first time only when she ran out of ways to avoid it. What follows is specific. The day she noticed her nails had grown. Praying for something big enough to save a marriage that was close to over, and what arrived a few days later. Homeschooling children she had once found too much. Selling a wardrobe worth thousands because she felt told to. And the month she put her phone down entirely and the business doubled without her. This one is for anyone who built the thing they wanted and cannot work out why it did not settle them. "You kinda gotta be prepared for your whole identity to be stripped away." — Kristie Morgan KEY TAKEAWAYS Quitting corporate with no savings and no plan Five years of failing before anything worked What chronic anxiety looked like, and the day it lifted Praying for something big enough to save a marriage Selling an entire wardrobe, and what it was really about What happened to the business when she stopped driving it FEATURED IDEA An identity built on achievement cannot survive the achieving stopping. Kristie describes building a brand and a self on being the one who performs. Millionaire, boss babe, the events, the travel, the highlight reel of a freedom lifestyle. The question she was asked at the start of that year was whether she would still feel worthy if all of it fell away, and she says the honest answer was no. What she describes since is an order that runs God, then family, then business. For years the business had taken everything up front and the rest of her life lived on the remainder. She is rebuilding publicly and slowly, and she is open in this conversation about not yet knowing what that looks like. Hearing God's Voice and Receiving Provision with Tiana Baxter

She had not slept for five nights, and that turned out to be the point. This episode includes an account of two children being pulled unconscious from a swimming pool and resuscitated. Both survived without injury. Tiana Baxter spent nearly two decades in sales before founding SELLÁ, Home of the Salesgirl. She and her husband came to faith while everything was working, which she says meant the years afterwards were mostly about things being stripped away. The centre of this conversation is a morning at a hotel on the Gold Coast, at the end of the hardest stretch of their marriage. A room they should not have had, a late checkout nobody offered them before, and two little girls in the pool. Tiana describes screaming without knowing why, and the six minutes that followed. She also describes being the calmest person there, and why five nights without sleep was the reason. From there the conversation gets practical. How to tell God's voice from your own, and the signature she has learned to recognise. Why coming to faith did not require her to stop being ambitious, and the question about money that replaced the one she was afraid of. What changed in her marriage when she stopped controlling the parts she had always controlled. And why she is reclaiming a word that has been used to make women smaller. This one is for anyone who has asked whether the thing they are hearing is God or just themselves. "Money in the hands of good women does good things." — Tiana Baxter KEY TAKEAWAYS The five sleepless nights that put her by the pool How to tell God's voice from your own, and the signature Why finding faith meant stripping away rather than adding What she had to unlearn about money and ambition Reclaiming sales girl, and why selling is a life skill What changed in her marriage when she stopped controlling it FEATURED IDEA Coming to faith raised a different question about money than the one she was braced for. Tiana assumed becoming a Christian meant burning it down. Every example around her pointed that way, and she had built a life on being ambitious and vocal about money. The answer she arrived at, through her pastor and through a long stretch of praying about it, turned the question into one about what she was worshipping. That let her keep the ambition while changing what it served, and she now uses the same question to decide what stays. TIMESTAMPS 0:00 - Welcome, and how they met 3:04 - Finding faith at the height of success 5:23 - Church, religion, and stepping away from it 7:44 - Putting her children in a Christian school 10:09 - The week their marriage nearly came apart 12:33 - The pool, and two children in the water 15:01 - Six minutes, and what the paramedics said 21:05 - Deciding to go to church 23:30 - What ultimate trust felt like in the moment 25:52 - How to tell God's voice from your own 28:13 - Faith plus works, and permission to try 30:24 - Money, ambition, and what you worship 35:15 - Surrender, submission and marriage order 46:31 - Building SELLÁ and reclaiming sales girl RESOURCES AND CONNECT ABOUT TIANA BAXTER Tiana Baxter is a faith-based entrepreneur, speaker and founder of SELLÁ, Home of the Salesgirl™. Love, Loss and Leadership with Joel Brown

He found God at the height of his success, then everything he believed got tested. Sensitive content warning - This episode discusses stillbirth, pregnancy loss and miscarriage in detail. If that is not for you today, come back to this one another time. Joel Brown built Addicted2Success into one of the largest personal development sites in the world, reaching over 146 million views. He was on stages, in films alongside Tony Robbins and Jack Canfield, and turning down seven-figure offers before he was twenty-five. He describes arriving at all of it and feeling a gaping hole in his chest that none of it filled, until a woman standing in the water on a beach in Tulum asked him a question he had never been asked. The conversation turns to what came after. He and his wife lost their daughter at thirty-eight weeks, two weeks out from a planned home birth, with no explanation any doctor could give them. Two miscarriages followed before their son arrived. Joel talks about the anger, about watching his wife pull away from God and find her way back, about the box they carried home from the hospital, and about what he means when he says he has become friends with grief. It also covers what he sees in the men he works with. The Superman complex, the midlife squeeze Ray Dalio describes, why men hold things until something breaks, and what fatherhood taught him about capacity that fifteen years of high performance never did. This one is for anyone carrying a loss nobody has been able to explain to them. "I've become friends with grief. I've learned how to sit with it more than I ever had." — Joel Brown KEY TAKEAWAYS Why success at twenty-four left him feeling empty The question on a beach in Tulum that started everything What losing a baby does to a marriage, and what held theirs The midlife squeeze, and why men hold things until they break What grief actually feels like years later What fatherhood changed about capacity and time FEATURED IDEA A belief only becomes yours at the point it costs you something. Joel came to faith through argument. He studied apologetics and theology, read his way in, and describes being able to sit with his wife and answer the hard questions when she was still working them out. Losing his daughter moved the whole thing out of the realm of argument. After it, the only question left was whether he would still stand on any of it with nothing in his hands to show for it. What he describes finding on the other side is a faith he no longer has to defend, and a capacity to sit with other people in the worst week of their lives. The Lost Art of Love: Biological Relating, Desire & Dating in the 21st Century with Martine De Luna

Every woman asking how to be more feminine is asking the wrong question. Martine De Luna has spent fourteen years guiding women through what she calls biological relating. Her argument is that femininity is a woman's natural state, and that the only thing capable of taking her out of it is conflict. Every course promising to make a woman more feminine therefore treats a symptom as a deficiency. The question she asks instead is where a woman first learned that being chosen required leaving parts of herself behind. The conversation covers what modern dating asks women to give up, why courtship stopped working once the family structures that used to vet men disappeared, and what each nervous system is trying to secure in an argument. It also covers yearning. Martine treats the ache for partnership and children as a creational force with something to make, and the question she brings to God about it is what am I meant to create with this. This one is for anyone dating, waiting, or quietly exhausted by trying to be soft enough and ambitious enough at the same time. "A woman cannot deepen into femininity. She can only remember it." — Martine De Luna KEY TAKEAWAYS Why "how do I become more feminine" is the wrong question The contradictory instructions modern women are handed daily What biological relating is, and why it sits under every relationship What each nervous system is really trying to secure in a fight Feminine desire and yearning, and what to do with the ache Where "God will just send him" actually came from FEATURED IDEA Femininity cannot be performed, because performance is the thing that removes it. Martine's position is that femininity is a woman's unconflicted natural state. Every course promising to make her more feminine therefore treats a symptom as a deficiency, and the self-monitoring those courses produce is itself the departure from it. Her question about origin does different work: where did you learn that being claimed required you to leave part of yourself behind? Answering that is a matter of remembering, which is work a woman can actually do. TIMESTAMPS 0:00 - Welcome, and why this conversation now 3:07 - What has shifted for women in dating 5:23 - Soft but ambitious, sexual but not too much 10:16 - Why "how do I become more feminine" fails 12:43 - What biological relating actually means 15:11 - Where did you learn to leave your body 22:07 - What couples are really fighting about 24:30 - What each nervous system is securing 29:21 - Yearning, and why it is not a pathology 36:36 - Is this desire creational or a demand 43:25 - What modern dating asks women to give up 50:41 - Where "God will just send him" came from 53:04 - Receiving yourself before receiving a man 1:02:10 - Soulmates, resentment and the worst advice RESOURCES AND CONNECT ABOUT MARTINE DE LUNA Martine is a wife of nearly two decades in covenant union, and a mother of a preteen daughter and a teenage son. Her devotion to family, faith, and the maturation of womanhood from menarche to menopause shapes all she teaches. For 14 years, she has guided women through biological design and relationship dynamics, drawing from faith in God, from the natural laws, and from the rite-of-passage wisdom threaded into feminine biology. Working with clients at the level of the psyche, Martine teaches women that their symptoms and behaviours aren't problems to fix, but invitations to a return to womanhood as a sacred office written into the body, by God Himself. Instagram: www.instagram.com/femininewomanhood Follow/Reach Sarah Instagram: www.instagram.com/sarahblackah Email: sarahjblackah@gmail.com Mentioned in this episode: Dr John Gray, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. The reference point for the nervous system differences Martine describes, and the source of the suggestion that a woman sit in public without her phone and simply feel herself in the world of men. Gillian Pothier, for the phrase "creational yin" Eartha Kitt, paraphrased This week, catch yourself once in the act of self-monitoring. The pause before you send the text, the edit you make to sound less like yourself. Then ask Martine's question instead of the usual one. The Receiving Edge

Welcome to The Receiving Edge. I'm Sarah Blackah, and this is the short version of how I got here. For about fifteen years I've mentored people through change, mostly women in leadership. A few years ago I thought I'd cracked the code. A seven-figure business, a global health and wellness community, stages, travel, and a freedom-based life I'd built on purpose so it could one day support becoming a wife and mother. Then came what my mentor called a life quake. Friendships I believed would last a lifetime ended, the financial future I'd built shifted underneath me, and I found myself grieving a future I thought I was building toward. I went quiet for a couple of years. Faith went deep, and yes, I mean Jesus, without the performance. I healed a body that burnt out, when deep into dating and at the patterns keeping me from the thing I most wanted, and rebuilt just outside Byron Bay on foundations strong enough to hold the life I've been praying for. I wanted to start this podcast once I had it all figured out. The husband, the baby, the seven-step process… but that was never the invitation. The invitation was to come as I am and to meet you in the messy middle, somewhere between who we are and who we're becoming next. So that's what this is. Honest conversations with thought leaders and guests about leading yourself through change and transition, dating and marriage in the 21st century, fertility and motherhood, vitality, wealth and freedom, the creative process, and the place where faith meets real life. Wherever you are, come as you are. Episode one drops September 3. Follow the show so you don't miss it. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
