It's over. Now what do the Phillies do?

It's over. Now what? The Phillies lost Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series on Thursday night, 6-2. They've now lost four consecutive postseason series: 2023 NLCS, 2024 NLDS, 2025 NLDS and 2026 NL WCS. The team is getting older, while the postseason runs are getting shorter. It's not great. Will Don Mattingly be back? Will any of the free agents be back in Luis Arraez, Alec Bohm, Jose Alvarado and Edmundo Sosa? What do you think should happen, understanding multiyear contracts can't just be moved with a snap of a finger and a weak farm system can't fix everything? We discuss the clubhouse scene with thoughts from Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, Trea Turner, Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola and more. Game 2 heroes: Phillies stun Braves in a magical comeback

Can you take another game like this? The Phillies beat the Braves in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series on Wednesday in Atlanta, forcing a win-or-go-home Game 3 on Thursday night. Bryce Harper misplayed a ball in right field in the seventh, then hit a game-tying homer in the eight. Alec Bohm made a poor decision on a bunt play in the seventh, then hit the game-winning homer in the 10th. Kyle Schwarber crushed a homer in the eight to cut the Braves lead to one. Cristopher Sánchez had a fantastic performance. But then so did Andrew Painter. Jim breaks the news that Aaron Nola will start Game 3. But who else will be available? The Phillies, Jhoan Duran suffer crushing Game 1 NL Wild Card loss

The Phillies suffered a crushing loss in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series, but the sting is a familiar one. Phillies closer Jhoan Duran entered the game in the seventh inning in part because they have few trustworthy options. He pitched a clean seventh, then allowed a three-run homer with two outs in the eighth inning to Austin Riley. It was the third consecutive postseason the Phillies blew a late-inning lead in Game 1 and lost. Did the Phillies handle Duran the right way? What does it say about how the bullpen was built? We show some love for big games from Jesús Luzardo, J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm. Champagne on ice: the Phillies are fading down the stretch

The Phillies are ready to celebrate, but they just can’t win a baseball game. They lost twice this week to the Brewers, postponing their plans to clinch an NL Wild Card and a fifth-consecutive trip to the postseason. The Phillies have lost 12 of their last 20. They can’t score. And now they might’ve lost Luis Arraez, who left Thursday’s game with a sprained left ankle. Not only that, but Alex McFarlane and José Alvarado showed cracks on Thursday, too. How the Phillies can fix their bullpen before October

It’s getting real. The Phillies on Saturday optioned right-hander Orion Kerkering to Triple-A. He just couldn’t be counted anymore to get outs. The bullpen has been kind of a mess, especially recently. But Dave Dombrowski and Don Mattingly talked Sunday about why they think it can be better in the postseason. Hint: Jesús Luzardo and Andrew Painter could help. Trea Turner had an encouraging weekend in New York. Plus, some great stories about Jim’s grilling and Ruben’s dad doing a little street shopping in Chicago. It’s “Best Week” by Manco & Manco Pizza! Aaron Nola's turnaround continues as October nears

Thank goodness for Aaron Nola. Where would the Phillies be without him? And what would their postseason chances be with him? He tossed seven scoreless innings in Thursday night’s 3-0 victory over the Mets at Citi Field. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. He has a 1.86 ERA in his last eight starts. It’s his best eight-start stretch since … 2018. Jonathan Bowlan left the game with an injury on Thursday night. The Phillies’ already paper-thin bullpen might be getting thinner. Speaking of bullpen, two of the Phillies’ final nine games will be bullpen games. Phillies chase an NL Wild Card, but can Jesús Luzardo help?

The Phillies need an absolute miracle to win the NL East after losing two of three this weekend in Atlanta. So, it’s NL Wild Card or bust. It won’t be easy. Jesús Luzardo has a sore left shoulder. The bullpen continues to blow leads. (They blew four saves in Atlanta.) They continue to make mistakes on the bases. October is near and the Phillies are chasing again

The Phillies’ offense flipped a switch in August. They weren’t chasing as much. They weren’t striking out as much. They were walking more, putting the ball in play more, getting on base more, scoring more. They were winning more. But those old, bad habits resurfaced in a 3-4 homestand. Can they get it turned around? We talk about the at-bats, the base running, Zack Wheeler’s bounceback, Jhoan Duran’s struggles with the splitter, the upcoming Braves series and more. Base running mistakes sink the Phillies yet again

The fundamentals and the little things cost the Phillies in the 2025 NLDS against Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers. It cost them again on Tuesday night in a 6-5 loss to the Astros. We dig into the Phillies’ latest base running blunders late in Tuesday's game, including Brandon Marsh getting double up at second base and Edmundo Sosa not hustling down the first-base line on a fly ball to deep right-center field in the ninth. We also talk about Andrew Painter’s start, Cristopher Sánchez start on Wednesday and how the Phillies might line up the rotation for the postseason. The NL East is slipping away from the Phillies

The Phillies had high hopes to beat up the Braves this weekend and make a move in the NL East. Instead, it looks like the Phillies will have to settle on the NL Wild Card. The Phils lost two of their first three in a four-game series against the Braves at Citizens Bank Park, with the series finale on Monday afternoon. But a five-game deficit with 19 games to play is going to be difficult to overcome. Why? Well, if the Braves go just 9-10 the rest of the way, the Phillies would need to go 15-4 to win the division. What went wrong on Monday? Alex McFarlane served up a three-run homer to Ronald Acuña Jr. We talk about McFarlane, the bullpen, the division and much more. It’s “Best Week” by Manco & Manco Pizza! What we want to see from the Phillies in September

The Phillies have won six in a row and 13 of 15 following Tuesday’s victory in August. They are baseball’s hottest team, moving ahead of the Cubs for the No. 1 NL Wild Card and three behind the Braves in the NL East. It’s great, but it’s what happens in October that matters most. What do we want to see from these Phillies in the final month of the season… besides wins, of course? Trea Turner getting on track? Alex McFarlane earning more of Don Mattingly’s trust? Zack Wheeler’s improvement? Andrew Painter building on what have been encouraging performances since he rejoined the team in late July? Plus, could Bryce Harper finish in the top three for NL MVP? Could Jesús Luzardo finish in the top three for NL Cy Young? This episode of The Phillies Show is powered by Monster Energy. Zack Wheeler rebounds, Phillies hot in August

The Phillies swept the Angels in Anaheim on Sunday, following a huge grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning on Friday and another comeback victory on Saturday. They got a promising start from Zack Wheeler on Sunday. Is he back? “I’m still not out of it,” Wheeler said. But he certainly pitched better than he had lately. He helped the Phillies improve to 20-7 in August, which is the best record in baseball. They are third in baseball in runs this month. They are first in batting average. They are third in OPS. They are third in ERA. Maybe they’re peaking at the right time with the postseason a month away. We also talk about Andrew Painter’s wild start on Friday and more. Phillies avoid sweep in Seattle, but Trea Turner's struggles continue

Where would the Phillies be without Jesús Luzardo, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Each had big games on Wednesday in Seattle, helping the Phillies avoid a sweep. Luzardo’s starts have become Win Day for the Phillies, and Schwarber’s 40th homer has him pushing for the Hall of Fame. But what’s up with Trea Turner? Time to sit him? Phillies ace Zack Wheeler's struggles continue. How concerned are you?

The Phillies flew to Seattle on Sunday on the highest of highs, riding a nine-game winning streak into a nine-game West Coast road trip. But then Zack Wheeler got shelled on Monday, allowing four home runs and eight runs in just four innings. He has an 8.51 ERA in his last six starts. Then the offense collected just two hits after the second inning in Tuesday’s loss. Suddenly, the Braves have a 4 ½ game lead in the NL East again. Suddenly, the Diamondbacks are only three behind the Phillies for the third NL Wild Card spot.
