    The HE Word - Men and Friendships

    Men can talk to their mates for hours without really talking about themselves. Are men and women different in the way they approach friendship? Some might argue that men have mates, while women have friends. And can men and women ever really be just good friends? Research suggests that men aren't necessarily lonelier than women. The real difference seems to be in what happens when they need support, and who they choose to turn to. In this episode of The HE Word, Frank is joined by veteran broadcaster and proud father Joe Tanti; Jay Vella, who shot to fame after winning Big Brother Malta; and Muxu, an accomplished artist who has chosen to share his journey of self-discovery through his latest music and accompanying book. The four men shine a spotlight on how they navigate friendship, what makes someone a true friend, where they draw the line, how friendships change as they get older, and the moments when the people closest to them have also been the ones to hurt them. It's a conversation that starts with mates, banter and the friendships we sometimes take for granted. But as the questions become less comfortable, something interesting happens: the guests start discovering things about their friendships, and themselves, that perhaps they hadn't realised before.     The HE Word - Men and The Measure of Success

    Every man wants to be successful, but very few of us ever stop to ask ourselves what success actually means. Is it money? Is it status? Is it freedom? Family? Purpose? Or have we simply accepted someone else's definition of success without ever questioning it? Research consistently shows that many people still tie success closely to their careers. Yet, at the same time, Europe records some of the lowest employee engagement levels in the world. In fact, only around 20% of employees globally say they feel engaged at work—and that figure drops to just 12% in Europe. At the same time, being busy has become a modern badge of honour. Somewhere along the way, we've started treating exhaustion as a sign of ambition, and long working hours as proof that we're successful. In the second Episode of The HE Word, four men sit down to ask What is the Measure of Success? Hosted by Frank Zammit, each of the men at the ‘table’ are all successful, but for very different reasons. Frank dives into the topic to find out whether they define success in the same way. Joining Frank is Alexander Fenech - a successful entrepreneur. Nearly three decades ago, he co-founded what has grown into Malta's largest pharmacy group Brown’s. Alongside building that business into a household name, he's invested in football and became one of the Sharks on Shark Tank Malta. Alexander (Sonni) brings with him business acumen, but also the invaluable lessons he has learned along the way. Also joining the show is local designer Zach Ritchie, although "designer" probably doesn't do him justice - Zach is also a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor. His work has led to collaborations with some major international brands and he describes himself as a "curious creative". He has spoken openly about how embracing his dyslexia transformed both his confidence and his career. Third guest for a long time was something of a mystery. Very few people knew the identity of the man behind the mask, handing out cash simply to make people smile. Gabriel Tonna has been creating content since he was just nine years old, earning multiple YouTube plaques before launching his latest chapter as the Briefcase Man. This show delves not just into how we define success, but the cost as well. It looks at the roots of drive and passion and what it takes to be successful. The show also explores the value of failure, the one subject we very rarely talk about as men.     The HE Word - Men and Their Image

    Men often claim they don’t care much about their appearance, but their camera rolls, and spending habits, tell a different story. With the male beauty and grooming industry growing by an estimated 6–8% each year, it’s clear that more men than ever are investing in how they look. Yet many still feel uncomfortable admitting just how much image matters to them. In the very first episode of The He Word, Frank Zammit is joined by three guests to explore the complex relationship men have with appearance, confidence, and vulnerability. Creative and stylist Peter Carbonaro is widely regarded as one of Malta’s best-dressed men, effortlessly turning heads wherever he goes. Property entrepreneur Steve Mercieca, meanwhile, insists he gives very little thought to his image but is that really the case? Completing the panel is content creator Ashley Peschel, who recently shared his personal struggles with weight in a very public and honest way. Together, the four men discuss what image means to them, the pressures they face, and the moments that make them feel vulnerable. The result is an open and candid conversation about masculinity, self-perception, and identity. This is the kind of conversation that men don’t often have, especially in public.
