    335 - Scream VI (2023) Review

Following the latest Woodsboro murders, Sam, Tara, and their friends relocate to New York City, but soon discover there's a new killer picking up the Ghostface murders. Scream VI is the finale of Sequel September 2026 and although there's a change of scenery from Woodsboro, the killings continue and Ghostface resurfaces. Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Chad are now in New York City, navigating a slew of new murders that are continuing where Ghostface left off. With a string of new friends, returning victims, and motives, everyone is a suspect. We're happy to see this film reprises the same style as the other Scream movies with success by continuing to mix in horror movie tropes and tie in the evolution of horror movies within its narrative. Although thematically there is some repetition, the writing overall remains clever and the mystery is exciting. Watch the movie and catch our review. 334 - I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) Review

A horrible incident from a year prior comes back to haunt a group of friends in the form of a killer dressed in a fisherman slicker. I Know What You Did Last Summer features a new set of friends encountering a horrific death similar to the events that occurred in Southport in 1997. Although this film features a new cast of friends, it brings back familiar faces of the series like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Brandy Norwood. This film also retains the iconic fisherman slicker killer vibe with his hook. While the kills were well done in this movie, the characters are poorly developed, and the writing decisions will have fans of the series scratching their heads at the end. 333 - It: Chapter Two (2019) Review

The members of the Losers Club receive a phone call, reuniting them back in Derry, 27 years following their initial encounter with Pennywise, and after building lives outside of the town they grew up in. It: Chapter Two is the next film we're discussing in Sequel September 2026 and it's the story of The Losers Club as adults, returning to Derry to put an end to Pennywise, once and for all. While we love the story of It, this film feels repetitive. The cast in the movie is great, the acting is strong, but there are too many flashbacks to keep up the engagement in this film. After rewatching this movie, we came away believing this story is told better through the kid's perspectives vs the adults. Watch the movie and catch our review. 332 - Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025) Review

Experiencing horrific nightmares of her grandparents dying, a college student returns home and speaks with her estranged grandmother on the deadly fates awaiting their family. Final Destination: Bloodlines is the first movie we're discussing for Sequel September 2026 and this movie continues the cycle of death, however, introduces the new concept of death coming for an entire family's bloodline. A completely fresh take on a franchise that had been written off due to so much redundancy, this movie takes a new, hopeful direction that was exciting. This is not to say that death doesn't like to be cheated and features some crazy kills. Watch the movie and catch our review. 331 - The Ring (2002) Review

A journalist begins to investigate the mystery behind her niece's death that involves a videotape, which causes anyone who watches it to die after 7 days. The Ring is the finale for Things You Don't Fuck With month and it was an American remake that made a splash in the early 2000s. We distinctly remember growing up and hearing all hype regarding how creepy this movie was. The concept of watching a video tape and receiving a call that foretold death in 7 days was always horrifying. We look forward to discussing this movie after having seen it over 2 decades ago. 330 - V/H/S/2 (2013) Review

A student's disappearance leads two private investigators to break into his home and look through a combination of VHS tapes. As they view the tapes, they begin to experience odd occurrences in the home and believe there's a more sinister cause for his disappearance. V/H/S/2 is up next in Things You Don't Fuck With month and this anthology is often referred to as the best in the series. As fans of the series and anthology horror movies, we love going back and watching through the shorts. This one in particular has some decent entries with one that stands not only above the rest in this film, but among the entire series. With a ghost-seeing eye, a zombie outbreak in the park, a demonic Japanese cult, and an alien invasion, this film has some crazy horror shorts that are sure to entertain. 329 - Talk to Me (2022) Review

A group of friends experiment with a new trend of using an embalmed hand to communicate with the dead, but when one of them breaks the rules, she starts to believe a spirit has permanently crossed over. Things You Don't Fuck With month is in full swing and Talk to Me fits very nicely into this month. With a modern take on seances and almost comparing the possession to a high, this film has a very unique take on demon possession. This is the full-length feature directorial debut of the Philippou brothers, and they deliver with an original concept that has shocking moments. They're able to successfully bridge prior family trauma and the desire to speak to a loved one who has passed on in a creative way, where this is often poorly executed in horror. 328 - Ouija (2014) Review

After one of their friends dies, a group of five friends attempt to communicate with her through the use of a Ouija board. In week two of Things You Don't Fuck With month, we discuss Ouija. The film stars Olivia Cooke in a very familiar horror movie where a group of friends experience loss and look to communicate with their dead friend through a Ouija board. Unfortunately, in looking to communicate with their close friend, they contact a spirit that isn't so friendly. This film is full of the classic paranormal ghost tropes you're used to seeing from teen horror movies and wasn't our cup of tea. Watch the movie and catch our review. 327 - The Monkey (2025) Review

After twin brothers discover their father's monkey toy and people start mysteriously dying in horrifying ways around them, they dispose of the toy only to have more deaths start popping up years down the road. The Monkey is first up in Things You Don't Fuck With month and it's very fitting because the one thing that twin brothers, Bill and Hal, mess around with in this movie is a toy monkey. This Osgood Perkins adaptation of Stephen King's short story, stars Theo James in a movie that has a lot of dark humor along with crazy deaths that follow the use of a toy monkey. We've been critical of Perkins' films in the past; how will this line up? Watch the movie and catch our review. 326 - Lake Mungo (2008) Review

After a young girl is found dead in a dammed-up lake, strange occurrences start to happen around the family's home. Lake Mungo, the eerie Australian Indie found footage film, is the final movie we're discussing in Haunted Water month. Although this movie may struggle with pacing, the grainy aspects of the footage captured combined with the family trauma create such a haunting vibe that really stays with the viewer. The atmosphere is bleak and sad all the way through. The acting is excellent and the way Alice's character is portrayed is different from other ghost movies. Although it may be polarizing to different audiences, the film is original and stands out from the pack. Watch the movie and catch our review. 325 - Triangle (2009) Review

Jess is looking for a day off to set sail with her friends, but her day off takes a turn for the worst when their yacht encounters a mysterious storm which overturns them. As they're forced to hop aboard a convenient ship that rescues them, they soon encounter a bizarre set of events. Triangle stars Melissa George and is a psychological thriller that takes five friends out to sea and on a course they'll never forget. This film may divide audiences as it has sci-fi elements of time loops, but has a very intriguing mystery. George delivers a strong performance as a mother looking for a day off which is the backbone of this movie and sets everything in motion. Watch the movie and catch our review. 324 - Dark Water (2005) Review

The ghost of a former resident begins to haunt a mother and daughter in their New York City apartment building just as the two recently moved to the area and are in the midst of a custody battle. Haunted Water month rolls on as we discuss Dark Water, the remake of the 2002 Japanese ghost story, starring Jennifer Connelly and John C. Reilly. This movie has a lot going in including the challenges a mother and daughter experience in a custody battle compiled with their new apartment having a constant water leak, which is the work of a ghost. As far as atmosphere goes, this is a very mood film which plays well with the psychological impact the family, especially the mother, experiences while trying to raise a child at the conclusion of a sour relationship. The ghost story cycles a theme of abandonment and neglect which culminates into a twist we didn't see coming, but feels mixed at best. Although very well acted, this ghost story at times feels dull and doesn't fully bring everything together at the climax. Watch the movie and catch our review. 323 - Night Swim (2024) Review

As a former baseball player recovers from a serious injury, he moves his family into a house with a pool that harbors a mysterious supernatural force. We're kicking off Haunted Water month with Night Swim. When this movie came out in 2024, we were so excited to give it a watch. What could be more entertaining than a haunted pool. This movie had such an interesting premise and after watching it, we believe it may be more of a baseball movie than a horror movie. In any case, it takes several swings, but misses on most. The film lacks the scares with cheesy pool ghosts, uneven acting performances, and large plot holes. Watch the movie and catch our review. 322 - Weapons (2025) Review

All but one child of a particular classroom, wake up and leave their homes at 2:17am, disappearing and leaving a community questioning how this happened and who is involved. Weapons is Zach Cregger's follow up to Barbarian, one of the biggest horror releases of 2025, and the perfect way to end The Kids Aren't Alright month. The film had a very creepy trailer that brought a ton of intrigue to audiences and has an amazing cast of Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, and Amy Madigan, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. Mysterious, creepy, and full of well-developed characters and their various points of view, Weapons was an amazing ride and is a movie we'll continue to go back and watch. 321 - It (2017) Review

The Losers Club bands together to fight a shape-shifting entity that disguises itself primarily as a clown and feeds on children in the summer of 1989 in Derry, Maine. It, based off the classic Stephen King novel, depicts half of the story, focusing on the kids as they fight Pennywise who is feasting on children in Derry, Maine. This film fits perfectly into the Kids Aren't Alright month as the kids in Derry are going missing and the Losers Club discovers Pennywise is hungry for their fear. The kids in this rendition of the story portray the characters well and we believe the portion of the story where the kids fight Pennywise is the better half of the story vs when the adults come back to Derry in the future. Bill Skarsgard's performance and re-brand of the infamous Pennywise was amazing and as good as the iconic Tim Curry performance from the 1990 TV mini series. Watch the movie and catch our review. 320 - Village of the Damned (1995) Review

A small town undergoes a mysterious event where several women give birth to odd alien children who look like humans. The third week of the Kids Aren't Alright month brings in Village of the Damned for us to discuss. The 1995 John Carpenter remake of the 1960 movie stars Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley, and although it has a very interesting premise, doesn't deliver on the setup. While the movie is well acted, the second and third acts leave a lot to be desired with plotlines either going nowhere or being disappointing. However, there are some very interesting kills as these kids have mind control abilities forcing the parents and townspeople to die in bizarre ways. Watch the movie and catch our review. 319 - Children of the Corn (1984) Review

A young couple becomes stuck in the remote town of Gatlin, Nebraska, where the inhabiting children practice a cult, killing anyone over 18 years old. Children of the Corn is the next film we discuss in The Kids Aren't Alright month. An adaptation of the 1977 short story by Stephen King, this movie features children forming a cult and killing off any adults in a remote town in Nebraska. While we were mixed on this movie, it was fun to see the differing power dynamics within a cult formed by children and how they all had different takes on the rules. Watching the young couple come into contact with the children was an interesting clash as they get to experience how far from the norm they've gone. Watch the movie and catch our review. 318 - The Omen (1976) Review

A political leader and his wife start to believe something is wrong with their son and that he may be the son of the devil. We're starting off The Kids Aren't Alright month with The Omen. This is a movie where there's definitely a kid and he's nowhere near alright. Gregory Peck stars in this film and he's one of a few strong performances in a movie that has bizarre characters, crazy events, and creepy deaths. You won't find a movie with a kid much creepier than the one in this film. The tone of the film is ominous and it certainly holds up. Watch the movie and catch our review. 317 - The Strangers (2008) Review

A couple head to a cabin vacation home following a wedding and while experiencing relationship issues, they're surprised by masked intruders who make their night full of panic. The Strangers is the movie of discussion for the finale of Home Invasion month. When this movie came out, there was a lot of hype surrounding how real it felt as a home invasion movie, primarily due to the lack of motive from the intruders. We're uncertain the movie holds up from a terror perspective, but it's certainly entertaining, suspenseful, and a unique entry into home invasion horror movies. With solid performances from Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman, and a fun cameo from Glenn Howerton, The Strangers is a fun ride that will make you want to pause going on any remote cabin trips. 316 - The Purge (2013) Review

A family who has profited off of selling security systems becomes the target of a violent, masked group during a 12-hour period called "The Purge" where all crime is legal. Home Invasion month kicks into high gear this week as we discuss The Purge. Ethan Hawke and Lena Heady star in this crazy film that introduces a dystopian society that has implemented an annual 12-hour period where all crime is legal. The thought process is that all aggression is aired out during these dangerous 12 hours, and many believe it heals the country. Although the concept is interesting, there are a lot of plot holes within the idea and the smaller story surrounding the family is also lacking. However, the movie is fun and entertaining all the way through. Watch the movie and catch our review.
