He connects modern practices such as manifesting, tarot, angel cards, astrology, akashic records, transcendental meditation, channeling, Reiki, Kundalini yoga, and crystal healing with older spiritual traditions, including Gnosticism, Theosophy, Witchcraft, and mystery schools, and examines the desire to make the self the ultimate source of truth and authority. The episode considers why these practices may seem harmless or comforting at first, yet can lead people toward fear, anxiety, and spiritual confusion. Drawing on his experience in exorcism and spiritual care, Adam discusses how divination, mediumship, and other New Age practices fit into a broader spiritual framework, and contrasts attempts to control outcomes with Christian prayer and trust in God. Referencing the Vatican documents Orationis Formas and Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life, Adam offers a Christian critique of New Age ideas and explains how sacramental grace and practices such as Lectio Divina differ from seeking spiritual power or secret knowledge. The conversation is intended as both a guide to understanding New Age spirituality and an invitation to seek peace through a different source. He explains how the Rosary helps focus the mind and heart on prayer, noting that its strength lies neither in the beads as an object nor in mechanically repeating words, but rather in humility, grace, and sincere prayer that turns toward God to enter a relationship with Him. Blai connects that understanding to his experience with deliverance and exorcism, describing the Rosary as a steady, familiar prayer that provides supernatural defense, helping people remain grounded and call on God in moments of fear and spiritual struggle by giving them something concrete to return to while keeping their focus on Christ. The episode also examines historical accounts associated with the Rosary, discussing Hiroshima—where a community of eight German Jesuit priests living about one kilometer from ground zero reportedly survived the atomic bombing and radiation sickness while practicing daily recitation of the Rosary—and the Battle of Lepanto, where Pope Pius V called on Christendom to pray the Rosary and subsequently instituted the Feast of Our Lady of Victory to credit the prayer of ordinary believers with turning the tide against the Ottoman fleet. Additionally, it covers the events surrounding Vienna, where Father Petrus Pavlicek led a massive "Rosary Crusade of Reparation" with hundreds of thousands praying daily in the streets before the Soviet Union unexpectedly signed the Austrian State Treaty in 1955 and withdrew all occupying troops without a shot being fired. Blai shares these stories as examples of how Catholics have understood the Rosary's role in times of crisis—not as a charm, but as an appeal to God for divine intervention and protection. Together, these accounts and Blai's firsthand perspective explain why he sees the Rosary as a powerful spiritual weapon that brings people back to prayer, sustains them under pressure, and directs their attention toward God rather than fear, offering a deeper look at the Rosary's place in Catholic devotion, deliverance ministry, and the long history of spiritual warfare. He examines why individuals turn to substances like DMT, ayahuasca, mushrooms, and ketamine in search of healing, mental relief, or spiritual shortcuts. Blai breaks down how these substances alter sensation, perception, and thinking, often generating powerful internal hallucinations and distorted realities that can feel entirely convincing. While acknowledging that altered brain chemistry and extreme intoxication naturally produce intense experiences—such as blackouts, psychosis, or multi-sensory hallucinations—he also addresses severe physical dangers like respiratory depression from ketamine and the risks of unregulated street drugs. Furthermore, he evaluates the psychological and spiritual dimensions of drug use, explicitly discussing spiritual oppression, demonic vulnerability, and frightening lingering distress reported by ayahuasca users, alongside cautionary case studies involving synthetic marijuana and painkiller overdoses. Ultimately, Blai contrasts self-directed recreational and spiritual drug use with supervised medical research, advising listeners to avoid chemical shortcuts and pursue spiritual growth through traditional prayer and faith instead. Spiritual Discernment 101

How can you tell the difference between a genuine nudge from God, a temptation pulling you off course, and a mental story you may be building from nothing? Drawing on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s discernment of spirits, Adam breaks down the difference between spiritual consolation and desolation, why guilt can sometimes be a gift, and why you should never make major life changes while you’re spiritually or emotionally flooded. He explains why consolation and desolation can sometimes appear at the same time, the Ignatian warning against making major decisions in desolation, and how to actively “fight back” against destructive thoughts instead of simply waiting for them to fade. Adam also explores why bringing a struggle into the light by sharing it with a trusted person can strip it of its power, what reciprocal discernment can look like when something truly comes from God, and how providence may open doors when a direction is real. At the same time, he warns against building major life decisions on coincidence alone and explains how ego, emotion, and the desire to feel specially guided can cloud spiritual discernment. Throughout the episode, Adam emphasizes the importance of reason, patience, prayer, and outside feedback over a sudden rush of certainty. He closes with a striking real-life example of urgent spiritual discernment during an emergency, demonstrating that while patience is often essential, there are rare moments when immediate action is exactly what faith requires. Essential listening for anyone trying to discern God’s will, wrestle with temptation, distinguish spiritual consolation from desolation, or determine whether a powerful interior prompting is genuine spiritual guidance—or simply your own mind running ahead of you. Drawing from his experience in the ministry of exorcism, Adam shares a practical list of advice he gives to people seeking help from the Church, including those who believe they may need the assistance of an exorcist. At the heart of his approach is the understanding that spiritual problems are almost always a symptom of an area in our lives where we may be falling short or being called to grow. Rather than focusing solely on the perceived spiritual attack, Adam explains how examining our lives honestly, addressing sin and unresolved wounds, strengthening our relationship with God, and returning to the foundational practices of the Catholic faith can help address the underlying vulnerabilities. Prayer, healing, and deliverance can all play an important role, but lasting spiritual help begins with putting one’s spiritual life in order and building a stronger foundation in faith. Because so many people have questions about spiritual warfare, oppression, deliverance, and how to respond to spiritual concerns in their own lives, Adam will be expanding on these topics in future episodes, taking a deeper look at the individual steps in Spiritual First Aid and offering additional practical guidance. Adam’s Spiritual First-Aid List: 1. Don’t Look for a Quick Fix 2. Examine Your Life Honestly 3. Get Your Spiritual and Religious Life in Order 4. Read the Bible 5. Repent and Ask for Grace to Change 6. Forgive Others 7. Spend Time in Eucharistic Adoration 8. Explore the Rosary and Devotions to the Saints 9. Use Sacramentals with Faith 10. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the world of exorcism and spiritual warfare, Adam explains that technology itself is not the enemy; the danger lies in how it can be used to glamorize sin, normalize destructive behavior, foster secrecy and addiction, and gradually pull people away from God. Adam examines how temptation can exploit memory, emotion, curiosity, and vulnerability, and how seemingly harmless online content can become a near occasion of sin. The discussion tackles the darker corners of the digital world, including online gambling, occult apps and content, predatory online communities, sexting, hookup apps, and the ways predators can exploit gaming platforms, voice chat, and secrecy to groom and manipulate children. Ultimately, Adam emphasizes that navigating the digital age requires discernment, vigilance, repentance, and accountability—recognizing that the same technology capable of exposing people to darkness can also be used to spread truth, strengthen faith, build community, and bring people closer to God. Drawing on his experiences in exorcism ministry, Blai examines how demonic deception can exploit sin, unforgiveness, guilt, self-condemnation, and despair. He explains that some of the most dangerous lies are not dramatic or frightening—they can sound comforting, flattering, reasonable, or even spiritually convincing. At the heart of the discussion is the importance of repentance, forgiving others, and accepting God’s forgiveness. Blai warns particularly against the trap of allowing our worst past sins to define who we are. While genuine remorse can lead us to repentance, growth, and a deeper relationship with God, persistent self-hatred and despair can become distortions that prevent healing. The episode offers an important reminder that the Devil seeks to use our wounds and failures to keep us trapped in the past, while God calls us through repentance, forgiveness, and mercy toward freedom and restoration. Guardian Angels + Spiritual Warfare
In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast hosted by Religious Demonologist Adam Blai, we take a deep dive into guardian angels and their vital role in spiritual warfare. Blai presents a reflection grounded in Catholic teaching, weaving together Scripture, Matthew 18:10 and Psalms 34 and 91, the Catechism, insights from Church Fathers, and personal experiences to explain how guardian angels guide, protect, and strengthen us without ever overriding our free will. He emphasizes that human life is surrounded by their watchful care from infancy to death, he highlights that while angels are personal and present with us, they are not omnipresent like God, and they ultimately belong to Jesus rather than serving as our personal possessions. Consequently, we cannot command them or presume to name them, as naming implies an authority over them that we do not possess. Blai explains that angelic assistance is primarily spiritual rather than a shortcut around suffering, meaning angels do not eliminate temptation, hardship, or demonic attacks entirely, but instead fortify us to resist sin, endure trials, and grow in virtue. He frames spiritual warfare as a necessary test permitted by God for our maturation, noting that trials help us gain wisdom, discipline, and patience, while practices like fasting, self-denial, and penance serve to train the will. Furthermore, because angels are creatures of constant prayer who stand ever before God, they join their voices with ours whenever we pray. Highlighting the advice of Padre Pio, Blai encourages listeners to speak to their guardian angel as a close friend and confidant while maintaining a posture of profound reverence. The episode also features rare accounts of physical interventions and concludes with practical steps for deepening one's relationship with the angelic realm. Listeners are encouraged to pray the Angel of God prayer daily, speak to their guardian angel with respect and trust, practice penance and self-denial, avoid attempting to name their angel, and consider making a personal consecration in their own words, always in accordance with God's will. SHOW NOTES: The connection between St. Athanasius and the "peace angels" of St. Anthony the Great comes from a famous book written in the fourth century. St. Athanasius wrote a book called The Life of St. Anthony. In this book, he explains how St. Anthony lived alone in the desert and fought against evil spirits. If you wish to deepen your understanding of angels—specifically the role and presence of your guardian angel—Adam highly recommend exploring the work of Opus Angelorum (opusangelorum.org). As a fully approved Catholic religious community, they are dedicated to the study of the angelic realm and offer comprehensive guidance on spiritual exercises and prayers. While they provide a structured program, you do not need to wait for a formal program to invite a closer relationship with your guardian angel; you can make an informal, personal act of consecration right now. While the following steps are not tied to a single saint or private revelation, they synthesize the core components found in traditional acts of consecration. Adam outlines each stage below; feel free to pause between them to offer your own heartfelt prayers in your own words. 1. First, in your own words, commit to cooperating with your guardian angel so that you and those you're responsible for make it to heaven. 2. Second, in your own words, promise to be faithful to God and his church. 3. Third, in your own words, commit to trying to pray often and ask your guardian angel to inspire you to pray. 4. Fourth, in your own words, commit to penance for your sins. 5. Fifth, ask for protection against the enemy's assaults. 6. Sixth, as for protection from worldly accidents, diseases, and attacks from our enemies, in accordance with God's will. *Now the qualifier at the end there, "in accordance with God's will," Website https://www.thedemonologistpodcast.com/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/TheDemonologistPodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheDemonologistPodcast TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thedemonologistpodcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedemonologistpodcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61587980725718 Hosted on Acast. Cults And Covens
In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast hosted by Adam Blai, we explore understanding cults and covens from a Catholic Perspective. The conversation examines the nature of satanic cults and witchcraft covens, unpacking their origins, practices, and overall societal impact. By contrasting folk superstitions with a traditional Christian worldview, the episode provides a grounded look at biblical teachings on spirits, demons, and fallen angels, emphasizing the critical distinction between attempting to bargain with or manipulate created spirits and surrendering in submission to God. The discussion highlights how involvement in the occult often begins innocuously, with individuals seeking power or quick success before gradually realizing the underlying spiritual dangers. Blai addresses the role of technology in modern occult circles and offers valuable perspectives for law enforcement, detailing specific categories of occult crimes and their connections to broader criminal behavior, including drug cartels. The episode also critically reexamines the historical Satanic Panic, distinguishing between media-driven hysteria and the rare but genuine reality of dangerous cult activity. Finally, the dialogue addresses the human element behind these practices, explaining why marginalized, traumatized, and vulnerable individuals are often drawn to the occult. Drawing from personal encounters with both victims and practitioners, the episode covers the psychological and spiritual toll of escaping these groups, the nuance of false memories, and demonic manipulation in possession cases. Ultimately, it emphasizes the vital role of spiritual healing, prayer, discernment, and proper law enforcement involvement in criminal activity. Reflections on The Exorcist
In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast hosted by Adam Blai, we dive deep into the classic 1973 film The Exorcist directed by William Friedkin to explore the profound spiritual themes, Hollywood tropes versus real-life aspects of exorcism and spiritual warfare. Adam Blai begins by dissecting the movie’s opening scene, analyzing the archaeological and biblical symbolism embedded in divine versus demonic artifacts. From there, the discussion shifts to the practical tools of spiritual battle, highlighting the historical significance of saints and real-world protections from sacramentals like the St. Joseph medal, which even touches on the mysterious role animals can play in spiritual environments. This episode is perfect for anyone curious about the biblical and spiritual realities hidden behind this iconic horror masterpiece. Adam Blai also tackles the vital intersection of faith, science, and the human mind. A major focus is placed on the rigorous discernment process required by the Church, emphasizing the necessity of ruling out complex medical and psychological causes before any spiritual intervention takes place. Adam confronts common misconceptions about demonic possession, addressing how entities target emotional wounds, doubt, and fear for psychological manipulation, as well as the dangers of inviting unwanted activity through occult practices like Ouija boards. Finally, the episode separates Hollywood fiction from authentic spiritual practice. Adam debunks famous cinematic inaccuracies—such as head-spinning, voice mimicry, and grand demonic illusions—by comparing them directly to actual Church protocols. Ultimately, he grounds the conversation in the real-world importance of prayer, faith, and proper discernment, illustrating how the Church’s authority operates in genuine spiritual warfare rather than just the sensationalized drama seen on the silver screen. Haunted Objects
In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast, host Adam Blai dives deep into the spiritual weight that physical objects can carry, exploring the distinct realities of haunted objects, relics, and cursed items. The discussion opens by contrasting the profound holiness of saint relics—which serve as conduits for divine grace—with the disruptive, dark energies attached to haunted or cursed objects. Blai explains that physical places and objects are not always spiritually neutral; instead, they can act as anchors for spiritual activity based on the intentions and events tied to them. When an item is connected to black magic, occult practices, or severe crimes, it can harbor a malevolent presence that triggers severe disturbances within a home, affecting the peace and well-being of its inhabitants. Throughout the episode, Blai provides concrete examples of how everyday items can become spiritually problematic, noting that clothing, furniture, artwork, and even well-meaning inherited family heirlooms can carry unwanted spiritual attachments. To help listeners navigate these hidden dangers, the episode outlines practical steps for identifying whether an object is spiritually harmful and offers guidance on how to safely handle it. Blai emphasizes that resolving these issues requires more than human effort; he highlights the vital role of prayer, house blessings, and exorcism prayers conducted by a priest to effectively break negative ties, reclaim living spaces, and guard against unseen influences. It's Not About The Demons
Adam Blai, host of The Demonologist Podcast, explains the often-overlooked positive side of exorcism and deliverance work, emphasizing that exorcism is not just about confronting demons but about the deep transformation of the person seeking help. He describes how freedom from spiritual oppression is usually a gradual process that can take weeks, months, or even years, and how each step can reveal more of a person’s true self as destructive habits, anxiety, cruelty, and addiction fall away. Rather than simply removing something negative, Blai notes that the process makes room for grace, healing, and a stronger relationship with God. Specifically, after each individual demon is cast out, the priest will pray for the Holy Spirit to come and fill the person to make them spiritually complete. Blai points out that while not every exorcist follows this practice, all the ones he knows do. They intentionally pray for the Holy Spirit to occupy whatever space that infesting or possessing spirit was taking up—acting figuratively like a parasite, since spirits do not have physical form. By asking the Holy Spirit to fill the vacated spaces as the demons depart, the person receives deep, foundational healing. Blai observes that these overall changes can be so dramatic and rapid that therapists and psychiatrists are sometimes astonished. Ultimately, he frames exorcism as a journey of healing and becoming the person God intended—healthier, more joyful, and spiritually whole. Haunted Houses
In this episode of The Demonologist Podcast hosted by Adam Blai dives into Haunted Houses and the spiritual reality of the unseen world, exploring the nature of haunted locations and human spirit manifestations. The discussion delves deeply into the spiritual framework behind haunted houses, focusing heavily on the Catholic understanding of purgatory and how the prayers of the living can aid these poor souls in speeding their purification. By clarifying common misconceptions about ghosts and demons, the episode outlines the critical differences between human spirits and demonic entities, detailing exactly how to identify and handle each type of presence. To anchor these concepts, the episode explores scriptural examples of spirits appearing on earth, referencing Samuel (1 Samuel 28:3-25) being called by a medium, the Witch of Endor, the disciples mistaking Jesus for a ghost when He walked on water, the Transfiguration, and various post-crucifixion apparitions. In the context of everyday haunted homes, the narrative breaks down typical manifestations of human spirits, such as knocking, footsteps, and fleeting appearances. It contrasts these with the dangers of ghost hunting and necromancy, emphasizing that people should prioritize prayer over active investigation. Resolving these hauntings requires a careful approach, beginning with the absolute importance of ruling out natural causes, mental illness, and mundane explanations first. When a spiritual issue is confirmed, the episode highlights the power of blessing the house, performing the traditional Epiphany blessing to offer protection against demonic influence and utilizing prayer and having Masses offered for the dead – Gregorian Masses (30 days).
