The Acolyte Podcast (An Assassin's Creed Podcast)

The Hooded Shadow

The Acolyte Podcast is about combining my two greatest passions, that being History and video games. And after years of contemplation, I finally decided to take a leap of faith (pun intended) in creating my own section of the massive fandom with my first podcast! Mostly, this podcast is about ruminating on my love for Assassin's Creed, a little bit of lamenting what it has become, but also just contributing to the medium which has brought me so much joy. Moreover, I've been a part of this massive fanbase for over a decade, have played all the mainline games, immersed myself in many of the transmedia projects such as the books, comics, manga, and movie; and with this podcast, it is a passion project of mine so I hope to continue being a flag bearer for the classic/hardcore fans to hopefully give them a place where we can have intellectual discussions and thoughts about one of gaming's highest selling franchises, Assassin's Creed. Thanks for listening!

"Enhancing Social Stealth"
"Hide in plain sight. Be a blade in the crowd." One of the most awesome gameplay mechanics and an unequivocally core pillar of an Assassin is Social Stealth. While in recent years we've seen a massive resurgence of parkour, the same can't be said for...

Unique Ideas (Part 11)-Assassin's Creed Needs to "Red Dead-ify" The Time Periods

Assassin's Creed should always have a serious tone- (Hot Takes Series)
Usually, an IP will tell you what tone it should be. An Assassins' Creed story based on its DNA, I would think, should always be serious with moments sprinkled throughout that can be more light-hearted, funny, etc. Seems as if the franchise has lost...

Constantly chasing the success of Assassin's Creed 2 and Black Flag

"Archetype's Creed"- The diminished importance of Assassins in "Assassin's Creed"
Many of the recent titles have featured an archetype character instead of an Assassin and therefore, no longer needs to be called Assassin's Creed. So I propose Archetype's Creed after playing as a Greek mercenary, a Viking warrior, and in the same...

How to do a Templar game-My thoughts and a response to Darby McDevitt
The sworn enemy of any Assassin is the Templars and in 2014 we were sold a game that promised a Templar narrative but served as a poor attempt at being one. You mostly were a hybrid between a Templar and an Assassin. So to go full Templar would be...

"The Creed Rises" Part 4-A Series on the Sanctuary Assassins
As I revisit more of the Sanctuary Assassins, Amunet is the next one up. Truth be told, I love her character and what we've gotten thus far in the lore and wouldn't oppose seeing one more core story about her time setting up the Hidden Ones in Rome....

A No-Brainer: My discussion about a remake of the original game
Now that we have finally entered the era of remakes for older Assassin's Creed titles, the next remake should be a no brainer. So in this episode, I discuss the parameters of a remake of the original game from 2007 and add some additional ideas that...

Feudal Era Japan-The Holy Grail of Time Periods
