That's Runnable

Tommy Lewis

Built on the mantra “run the runnable,” this show is about what’s possible rather than the pressure of perfection. We embrace an accessible, light-hearted, and sustainable way of training and racing - welcoming runners of all abilities to join the adventure.

Inspired by nature and the freedom of the outdoors, we marry our laid-back approach to running with a tenacious desire to push the limits of what’s possible. We prioritise community, inclusivity, and a balanced way to run, encouraging everyone to embrace their own version of what’s “runnable.” That’s Runnable is here to inspire you to enjoy the run while building a friendly and supportive community around the sport.

#114 That’s Notable Ep12 - Meeting Eliud Kipchoge, Unofficial Stage Races & Trends of Outrage

Tommy and Josh Lynott are back for episode 12 of That’s Notable. Josh shares the story of Notes from France, his running and writing retreat at the foot of the Pyrenees. Tommy looks back on going under 29 hours at Nice Côte D’Azur by UTMB and gets ready for a six-day, 330km Ultra-X stage race. The pair then ask why runners are turning marathon weekends into unofficial stage races, and whether people would still do it without social media. They also dig into “trends of outrage” online: why reacting fast seems to beat thinking for yourself, and why talking in person might be the fix. Josh also met Eliud Kipchoge, and he shares what he learned about Kipchoge’s three daily journals, which “help him respect time.” Plus a safari hat, a self-portrait, and the case for doing more with a pen. #112 [Guest] Miles Victors - From Walking With a Cane to Running 100 Miles (in sandals!)

Miles Victors once weighed over 200kg and needed a cane to walk. Today, he runs 100 mile ultras in sandals. But losing over 90kg didn’t make the struggles in his head just disappear. Miles joins Tommy to share how a short walk to a pharmacy became the first step towards changing his life, and why a devastating DNF taught him something that finishing never had. They explore emotional eating, depression, the power of small daily actions, and how self acceptance can sit alongside the desire to improve. Plus, the realities of running ultras in sandals and Miles’s 420 mile Utah challenge to raise money for mental health charity Still I Run. #107 [Guest] Brady Nankervis - Backyard Ultra Debut Record Holder

Brady Nankervis joins Tommy not long after his remarkable backyard ultra debut, where he completed 68 yards, earned a place on the Australian team, and discovered just how deeply he was willing to suffer. They explore sleep deprivation, hallucinations, mental resilience and why sharing the burden may be a greater sign of strength than staying silent. Brady also opens up about leaving a secure career, repeatedly failing, building an audience and learning to back himself. #106 [Guest] Brian (Wolfie) Peterson - Is the Culture of Ultra Running Under Threat

As trail and ultra running continue to grow, are the sport’s culture and values at risk? Tommy is joined by Brian “Wolfie” Peterson to discuss online discourse and how we should try to interact. They unpack the recent controversy surrounding Sage Canaday, Cam Hanes, banned peptides and clean sport. Together, they explore whether the argument is really about doping or whether it reveals a deeper divide within the running community. They discuss online tribalism, public callouts, the professionalisation of ultra running and whether a sport built on freedom, honesty and shared suffering can retain its identity as more money, attention and regulation enter the space. #97 - The Secret to Discipline No One Tells You

There is a beautifully encouraging truth about discipline that many miss. We think of discipline with a harsh tone, that we always need to make the hard decision. And that is somewhat true, but it doesn’t have to feel this way. In today’s solo episode, Tommy opens with a heartfelt email from a Weekly Reframe reader, rounding off the episode with the beautiful truth of discipline that you can begin again every day.
