Episode 214 - Finger on the GAI Charm
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show as Allison, Brian, David, and Jeanine gather around the campfire to discuss the latest tech news and usual nonsense. After disclosing way to much personal information about someone, we kick the show off discussing the return of the Brooklyn Sewer Men, and of course Brian has a very interesting conspiracy people about all of it. And we are only five weeks out from the 19th annual Laugh For Sight at Gotham Comedy club go get your tickets here. Google is getting ready to send an A.I. not a Super Intelligence satellite up in to space next week. We ask what could go wrong? Then we're talking baseball, and Dummy Hoy, Baseball's first deaf pioneer and the push to get Mr. Hoy in to the Baseball Hall of Fame. We then dive in to our thoughts and review of iOS 27 and the issues that some of us have been having with the new operating system. Brian starts with an awful review of his experiences with the new Siri. Jeanine then dives in to her experiences with iOS 27. Brian then brings up the massive security issue in iOS 27, the entering of your password with VoiceOver and being told the wrong number of characters entered. Next up Brian discusses the disaster that Downcast has become in iOS 27. And then there's the Notification Center, yuck. Jeanine then gives us her thoughts of Mac OS golden Gate. The long rumored Apple Home Pod is rumored to be arriving next month. Would you want Siri runninng your household? The article title says CahtGPT's Voice mode is getting some big upgrades, yet we couldn't find anything big about this at all. The Colonel, Bernie Sanders is proposing the elimination of the development of all Super Intelligence and jail time for people who do develop it. And yes, we hate the usage of Super Intelligence. Remember the Rabbit R1? We do, well now you no longer need the defunct device to run their software. Meta launched Muse their new A.I. about a month ago, it caught some of us by surprise, we're hearing it's not bad, and that it is currently the most downloaded app in the App Store. Allison then fills us in on what she has been using Muse for and how it has worked. Brian then dives in with a disappointing new UI design of Claude. Muse did not get off to a banging start on the Mac as it launched with a one click vulnerability. Is that bad? At Meta Connect, Zuckerberg ignored all the idiot Privacy Wonkers out there, made us happy. Meta announced the new Meta Ray Ban Perv Gen 3 starting at $249. Meta then announced a pair of cameraless Ray Bans, and on behalf of That Real Blind Tech show, if you know a blind person that buys these, please slap them on our behalf. Meta then closed with the announcement of the Meta A.I. Episode 213 - Apple Event, Fully Erect, Physically and Metaphorically
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show as Allison, Brian, David, and Jenine are together to discuss the Apple Surprise and Shine Event. Next Brian discusses what has slowed the development of the quiz and Poker games, as he is working on becoming a Country Rock God. Brian then dives in to a bit of his workflow process with making the future international hit I Can See Just Fine in 1999, and of course the Accessibility barriers he encountered and how he got around them. Then Brian discusses his spiral in to writing, producing, and directing a music video for I Can See Just Fine in 1999, as someone whispered to him that sighted people want video to their music. Who knew? Allison then gives us updates on her work with the Virtual Machine and new accessible Terminal she has designed. We then get in to the Apple Surprise and Shine Event. We discuss how great it is that Apple seems to be the only tech company that audio describes their keynotes and events. Discuss the video intro, the release date for the new iOS September 14th, and Allison and Jeanine's experiences running the iOS Beta. Jeanine mentions that image description in the new OS could be a game changer. We discuss the new Siri and Siri app that will be in beta at first. Additionally there will be daily use caps and potentially costs coming down the road. Allison and Jenine claim they have noticed a much improved dictation experience on the beta. So while we are Air Pod Pro people we still discuss them anyway. We are getting two new Apple Watches the Watch 12 and Ultra 4. We discuss the new health features coming to the watch, sleep scores, conversation recap features, daily body score and tracking health and recovery from injuries. And then finally we discuss the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone. We are not sure this is a device for totally blind people, and I you do not have Muppett Hands then you will definitely want to get your hands on the device probably before committing to it. And we are really annoyed that TouchId is secure enough to be on the Duo but not other Apple Devices. Talk about Speaking out of both sides of your mouth Apple. We Blind Feud a great question about the iPhone Duo, and here is proof people were actually asking it. And developers will first have to design their apps to specifically fit the unique Duo screen. We discuss that Apple has changed the way the App Store will work in the EU, but we could care less about the EU and are discussing this topic for another reason. Brian then discusses his latest project building work while Clauding, which then leads to us discussing the dumbass decision by anthropic to add watermarks to Claude projects. On a related note it took Coders a whole four hours to create a hack to get rid of the watermarking, hopefully us blind creatives can use it. With all the mass hysteria to the Meta Frames basically all media created, Brian did a deep dive in to other technologies that supposedly caused mass hysteria in years past. Included in the Top 8 are the arrival of the Eiffel Tower, another one includes the Fonograph would ruin vocal cords, and the number one by a large margin fear mongering is how the Teddy Bear will lead to the end of the human race. Episode 211 - Bad app Store connect, Bad app Store connect
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech show with the old school gang of Allison, Brian, Ed, and Jeanine. Since most of you come to That Real Blind Tech Show for your scientific news, we kick the show off discussing the most interesting and strangest theory on how life on this place called Earth began. Boy the Japanese sure can innovate as they are now selling human refrigerators because it is so damn hot everywhere. If there's an app for it, then it must mean the paranoia is real, introducing the Anti-Zuck Bluetooth sniffer app. Some how the old Sham wow infomercial comes up, and if you are like us and wondering what ever happened to the Sham wow Guy watch this YouTube clip about him. Do we now need a Tick Tock for Dummies, or is that just called Tick Tock? Tick Tock videos are advising people to put their phones in the fridge when they heat up. Would you take $50 bucks to let an A.I. start up read your mind to train their A.I.? Jeanine then gives us her recap of this year's ACB Conference. Then A special quick version of the Blind Feud pops in, asking what is Arizona State the first University in the country to now be offering a major in? It's then on to Clauding where Brian gets some feedback on his new favorite jingle on the show, and then discusses his experiences with the submission of the That Real Blind Tech show app and App Store Connect. It has not been a good experience. Allison then discusses the excitement behind launching her first project in to GitHub the Accessible Virtual Machine. She discusses the work behind it, the feedback, and the feeling of empowerment upon launching it all. Episode 210 - Vomitous Interruptous
It's an all new that Real Blind Tech show with Allison, Brian, and David discussing the latest news in tech that is important to the blind and low vision. We kick this episode off with a series of announcements. The biggest being the all new That Real Blind Tech Show iOS app, which as of this release is still awaiting approval from Apple to be released. So much for that 48 hour that Apple claims 90% of apps get approved in. It should be released any day in the next week. Brian discusses some of the fun he had when posting the app for approval to Apple's App Store Connect, while it is accessible the usability could be massively improved. Our next announcement is that Laugh For Sight will be returning for our 19th year at Gotham Comedy club on Monday, October 26, 26, NYC. This year we will be donating all proceeds to InTandem and the Seeing Eye. Stay tuned for many more announcements coming soon. The way we have purchased iPhones is about to change, as Apple is moving to leasing iPhones, and if you miss a payment, Apple will be able to deactivate your phone, yeah, nothing could go wrong here! We then dive in to Clauding as Brian and Allison discuss the states of their latest projects, we ask David if he has taken the dive yet, and we discuss some of our frustrations with Claude Van Damme. This is a segment you will not want to miss as someone vomits in their mouth, and the show kind of temporarily goes off the rails but in a good way. Episode 208 - Demo of Claude in Action, xCode, and Terminal Making the Baseball SIM and That Real Movie Quiz iOS Game
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show with Brian once again flying solo as he walks you through VibeCoding. Even if you think VibeCoding is not for you, stick around and give it a listen, as you will be amazed at how simple it really is. Brian will walk you through working with Claude to build actual real life web based and iOS apps, Xcode, Terminal, and demo part of his web based Baseball SIM and iOS That Real Movie Quiz game. The first thing Brian walks you through is some of his work in Claude with his Baseball SIM. You will see how he talks to Claude and the responses he receives. After walking you through some prompting to Claude and its responses on fixes to his project, Brian then walks you through the main menu structure of his Baseball SIM game. Then he walks you through the Dashboard to the game. This is where a lot of the fun is located. Brian SIMS a game and shows you the box score for that game, where the Yankees win, Yankees win! Then you will get to see or hear some real gameplay with the announcer in action. After the Baseball SIM demo, Brian begins discussing the Movie Jeopardy game now called That Real Movie Quiz game he is creating. The game is in very early Test Flight stage with a working prototype. First thing Brian walks you through is some more prompting with Claude, but this time he is recording all of his work in real time. Claude leads Brian through some file replacements which then leads him in to Xcode. Brian then fires up That Real Movie quiz on his iPhone, but runs in to an issue where there are only two categories on the Board. Not to worry, as running in to issues is part of working, designing, and developing with Claude. Brian then takes a break, and gets back in to it all the next day and describes what went wrong with his That Real Movie Quiz iOS game. Then it is back to Claude to find out what caused this issue in the latest build of the game. Off the air, Brian made the necessary fixes to That Real Movie Quiz, and he then demos the current final product on his iPhone. Episode 207 - Special Report: The VibeCoding episode
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show, and a different kind of episode as Allison, Brian, and Jeanine get together for a Special Report on VibeCoding. What's the old saying? We discuss our first experiences with VibeCoding when we sat down at the computer and typed that first prompt to Claude. We go in to the difference between a chat and a project on Claude, and why you may choose to use a project. We then discuss issues we have had when working on a project and how we got around the issues. We then dive in to some of the projects we are working on and some of the upcoming projects we would like to begin working on. Don't steal our ideas, unless they will turn out better than our ideas! And like anything worth doing we then discuss the possibility of people stealing or copying your ideas and trying to make something you create their own. Episode 206 - WWDC26 Recap, See What You see and Introducing StudHub
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech show as Allison, Brian, and David are here to discuss this year's WWDC in a way that no other Blind Tech Show can. The show kicks off discussing some of the crazy happenings in New York City and it is only going to get crazier as the 250th comes the weekend of July 4th. Strange things have been afoot in the New York City sewer system! We then give you a quick preview about our next episode which will be all about VibeCoding. All of the FIFA World Cup games will air with an audio described track through the Fifa app. We then dive in to our WWDC26 recap and no big surprise as the keynote was almost entirely about Apple Intelligence. Take two for Apple as they introduce Siri A.I. A stand alone Siri app will be coming to your devices. Siri mode will be coming to the camera app giving us a whole new visual intelligence experience. Unfortunately for our friends in the EU do not expect any of these smarter Siri features any time soon. Additionally, if you want to run the newest Apple Intelligence features for some of them you will need to be on a newer device. Safari is getting a big makeover, but will you actually use any of the new features? iCloud Plus subscribers will get new additional benefits for apple Intelligence. Episode 205 - Demo of amazon Web Mac Improved Accessibility and New Innosearch Fees
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show super cool Brian demo, as Brian noticed a few things going on on the Innosearch and a long over due accessibility web improvement to amazon on the Mac. Brian starts off discussing the newly implemented under $25 fees that are appearing on Innosearch. He walks you through a demo of searching for Men's Boxers, adding to the cart, and then the new under $25 handling fee Innosearch has implemented. Next he demos the bizarre behavior on Innosearch after you decide to look for a second product. These demos are done on the Mac using Safari. You may experience different behavior on the PC or in Chrome or other browsers on the Mac. Brian then goes over to Amazon to demo the very positive and long over due heading and screen reader navigation improvements in safari on the Mac. We now have keyboard shortcuts on the Mac that actually work in most places. Brian walks you through navigating search results in Amazon which still leave much to be desired, and then he shows you how searching directly for a product in Google might get you to the product page directly faster. Brian attempts to use the keyboard shortcut built in to Amazon to get a product description, and when it fails to work, he then demos the fantastic new heading structure on amazon.com. He then demos how quick and simple it is to add a product to your cart with the keyboard shortcut. Episode 204 - #GAAD, Google IO, and Walrus Penis Bone

Boston Logan Airport is launching a pilot program of people getting to the airport 25 miles away and going through TSA there, what could go wrong with this? We then discuss #GAAD and what has it accomplished over the past 15 years. Ed discusses the #GAAD event he participated in with Meta Labs. In recognition of #GAAD Apple unveiled the new accessibility features coming in the next operating system. We then touch on all the sink holes popping up in New York City. Google has multiple pairs of Glasses coming later this year, the first pair we discuss is the Project Aura Glasses which are more VR glasses. Google will also be releasing an Audio only Gemini Glasses, but do not call them Glasses, they are Intelligent Eyewear. Get ready to do everything in Google in the search box. Google Gemini Agents will become more personalized. At the end of the day all of these A.I. features and the usability of it all will come down to two things, the accessibility of it all, and more importantly, will you actually trust using it. We then dive in to some new products we have gotten recently. Brian kicks it off discussing the DOT digital Business Card which you can buy on amazon. Brian then mentions he bought the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Buds that just were released on May 21st, however, as they did not arrive until after we recorded, and the app and touch screen have several accessibility issues. Episode 203 - GPT Smackdown Demo for Mac Usability
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech show long awaited new demo, as Brian woke up early and decided to do something about his frustration with the state of navigation and usability of ChatGPT on the Mac with VoiceOver. Welcome to the first ever GPT smack off! Brian will run you through ChatGPT, ChatGPT Desktop, Google Gemini, Gemini Desktop for Mac, and Claude and compare all of them for ease of use, navigation, and usability with VoiceOver on the Mac. So grab a beverage, kick back and enjoy. Brian starts off walking you through the current navigation issues in both the web based and desktop ChatGPT apps. They end up getting a D minus for his usability score. Next up is Gemini web based and desktop apps. Brian gives web based Gemini an A for its ease of navigation and great heading structure. It blows the doors off the current state of navigation on ChatGPT. Remember this demo was done on the Mac in Safari, you may experience different behavior in chrome on the Mac, and of course on the PC. Brian ends up giving the Mac Gemini Desktop app a C, so if you are going to use Gemini on the Mac stick to the browser version, it is a much smoother navigation experience. Brian is using Claude for the first time and like web based Gemini, he gives web based Claude an A as well, so se la vie to ChatGPT and their continuing downward spiral with screen reader usability. You can finally change your gmail user name, but there is a catch, this feature is only available to those in the United States. While some of us are rooting for facial recognition to come to the masses, a woman in Tennessee is definitely not one of them as police used facial recognition to arrest her and send her back to a state she claims she has never stepped foot in. A recent study finds that LLM's will protect each other over following prompts to delete one another. Oh shit, that can't be good.
