We often must use metaphors to describe the supernatural. These metaphors assist in the pursuit of holiness, which should be the goal of every person to become a saint. There are, of course, a myriad of good goals in life because we are intimidated by the idea of saintliness. It feels like this end is beyond us. Yet all these goals we set for ourselves, ranging from being a good Catholic father to a good Catholic professional, should build toward holiness and make us better disciples of Our Lord.
