SoberFitGirl

Kathryn Sauser

Hosted by best friends Kat Sauser and Ewa Pietrzycka, the SoberFitGirl Podcast is where sobriety meets real life - fitness, dating, relationships, confidence, boundaries, friendships, food, mental health, and figuring out who you are without alcohol.

Kat and Ewa met through sobriety, became best friends, and now bring the conversations they have off the mic to the podcast. Expect honest stories, plenty of laughs, and the kind of conversations they wish they had heard when they first stopped drinking.

Meet Kat

Kat is the founder of SoberFitGirl and author of Sober Fit Girl. Originally from a small town in Iowa, she has been sober for more than six years and built SoberFitGirl around helping women create lives they genuinely love without alcohol. Meet Ewa

Born and raised in New York City, Ewa has been sober for more than four years and is Head Coach at SoberFitGirl. She works directly with women navigating the real-life side of sobriety - from cravings and changing friendships to dating, boundaries, fitness, confidence, and rebuilding trust with yourself.

Together, Kat and Ewa are here to show you that an alcohol-free life can be anything but boring.

    113. What's In Our Control And What Never Was

In this episode, Kat and Ewa dive into one of the hardest lessons sobriety teaches us: learning the difference between what we can control and what we have to let go of. From other people's opinions and actions to relationships, expectations, and the pressure we put on ourselves, we talk about how trying to control everything can leave us feeling anxious, frustrated, and exhausted. We share our own experiences with letting go of control, accepting things for what they are, and learning to focus our energy on what actually belongs to us: our choices, boundaries, reactions, and how we show up for ourselves. Because sometimes the biggest form of growth isn't trying harder to change a situation. It's realizing it was never yours to control in the first place. 📖 PREORDER SOBER FIT GIRL (Click here to preorder) An Everyday Guide to a Sober Curious Lifestyle Coming January 19, 2027 Real stories, tough love, and simple next steps to help you stop the moderation cycle, rebuild confidence and fitness, and build a sober life that lasts. 112. Getting Back In Routine After Falling Off

In this episode, Kat and Ewa talk about what happens when life gets busy, routines fall apart, and you find yourself struggling to get back on track. Whether it's your fitness goals, healthy habits, sobriety, or daily structure, we've all been there. But falling out of routine doesn't mean you're starting over. We dive into the all-or-nothing mindset, why we put so much pressure on ourselves to be consistent, and how to stop turning a few off days into weeks of feeling stuck. We also share practical ways to rebuild your routine, create habits that actually fit your life, and get back into the swing of things without guilt or punishment. Because getting back on track isn't about being perfect. It's about learning how to show up for yourself, even when life doesn't go according to plan. 111. Sober Dating: "He Said He Doesn't Really Drink" Part 2

In this episode, Kat and Ewa continue the conversation about sober dating and what happens when “I don’t really drink” slowly turns into a very different reality. We’re talking about the insecurity that can come up when someone who drinks dates a sober woman, why your sobriety can sometimes become a mirror for someone else’s relationship with alcohol, and the ways that insecurity can show up through defensiveness, jokes, minimizing, or over-explaining. We also break down the red flags and green flags we’ve learned to pay attention to while dating sober: from getting cagey about how often they drink to being completely honest about their lifestyle from the start. Plus, we talk about asking better questions early on, trusting what someone’s actions are showing you, and remembering that you don’t need someone to live exactly like you do — but you do deserve honesty and respect around something that is such a big part of your life. And yes, we want your stories. Has a guy ever told you he “barely drinks” only for you to find out that was definitely not the case? DM us because we know we’re not the only ones. 110. Sober Dating: "He Said He Doesn't Really Drink" Part 1

In this episode, Kat and Ewa are back with another sober dating conversation, and this time we’re talking about the classic line: “I don’t really drink.” You know, until you actually start dating him and realize his definition of “not really drinking” is very different from yours. We’re getting into the little lies and half-truths people tell about their drinking early on, from “I only drink socially” to “I’m basically sober” to ordering water on the first date just to seem more compatible with you. We talk about why some men feel the need to downplay their drinking when dating a sober woman, what happens when the image they created starts to fall apart, and why the dishonesty can become a bigger issue than the drinking itself. We also talk about the difference between someone who genuinely respects your sobriety and someone who is simply saying what they think you want to hear. Because we’re not asking every person we date to be sober. We’re asking them to be honest about who they are from the beginning. 108. Body Image Struggles That Followed Us Into Sobriety

In this episode, Kat and Ewa get real about the body image struggles that didn’t magically disappear when they got sober. They talk about how their relationships with their bodies have changed over the years, the pressure to look a certain way, comparison, fitness, weight changes, and the disconnect between how we actually look and how we see ourselves. They also open up about their own experiences with body dysmorphia and how easy it can be to fall into the mindset of always needing to change, fix, or improve something about your body. From learning to appreciate what their bodies can do to recognizing when “healthy” habits start becoming obsessive, this conversation is about working toward a healthier relationship with yourself- not a perfect one. A little trigger warning before listening: this episode includes conversations around eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, and weight. 107. The Career Glow-Up Nobody Talks About: Getting Sober

In this episode, Kat and Ewa talk about the career glow-up nobody talks about: getting sober. We’re diving into how sobriety can impact your career in ways you may not expect — from having more energy and mental clarity to becoming more reliable, motivated, and intentional with your time. We’re sharing our own experiences with how getting sober changed the way we showed up professionally, made decisions, handled stress, communicated with other people, and pursued bigger goals. We’ll talk about the opportunities that can open up when you’re no longer spending your time recovering from hangovers, thinking about your next drink, or second-guessing yourself because of something you said or did while drinking. If you’ve ever felt like you’re capable of more but something is holding you back, this episode is a reminder to look at where your energy is actually going. Sobriety doesn’t automatically guarantee career success, but it can give you back time, clarity, and the ability to show up consistently for the goals you care about. 105. Things We Wish We Knew About Fitness Before We Got Sober

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl podcast, Kat and Ewa bust the myth that getting sober automatically means losing weight or having it all figured out. Sometimes it’s the opposite — new cravings, a changed appetite, food replacing the ritual of drinking. We talk about why weight gain doesn’t mean sobriety isn’t working, and introduce the SoberFitGirl Baseline Strategy: find where you actually are, raise it slightly, and stop chasing perfect. We get into what working out actually looked like for us early on, what never worked (restriction, overtraining, all-or-nothing thinking), and what does now — plus the story of starting from zero, unable to lift 5 lbs, with no clue how to train or eat. Fitness doesn’t have to punish you. Done right, it becomes proof you can trust yourself again. Pick one baseline for the next 30 days — not your dream goal, your minimum promise. What’s small enough that even on a bad week, you can still keep it? 📖 PREORDER SOBER FIT GIRL (Click here to preorder) An Everyday Guide to a Sober Curious Lifestyle Coming January 19, 2027 Real stories, tough love, and simple next steps to help you stop the moderation cycle, rebuild confidence and fitness, and build a sober life that lasts. 104. Would You Rather? SoberFitGirl Edition

In this episode, Kat and Ewa talk about choosing your hard — the idea that you don't actually get to avoid difficulty, you just get to decide which kind you're willing to live with. Staying sober is hard, but staying stuck in the same patterns is harder. Showing up for a workout is hard, but living with the guilt and burnout of skipping it is harder. Having the uncomfortable conversation is hard, but carrying the resentment of avoiding it is harder still. They talk through the hards they've chosen in their own lives, the ones they've dodged and regretted, and how this one mindset shift has become something they keep coming back to whenever motivation runs out and life gets uncomfortable. Then they switch gears completely and have some fun with a round of Would You Rather, SoberFitGirl edition — a bunch of silly, ridiculous questions that lead to some pretty entertaining answers. 103. The SoberFitGirl Glow Up: Why & How it Happens

In this episode, Kat and Ewa dive into the SoberFitGirl glow up — that unmistakable shift in energy, confidence, and presence that happens when you ditch the drink and start showing up for yourself. They break down why it happens (better sleep, hydration, and hormone balance) and how to actually experience it in your own journey, not just admire it on someone else’s transformation. They talk through the timeline of what actually changes — from the first few weeks when your sleep evens out and your head starts to clear, to the months in when your energy shifts, your workouts start to feel different, and your relationship with food and movement starts to heal. Kat and Ewa get personal about their own glow up moments, the parts nobody warns you about (like the awkward in-between stage), and the small daily habits that actually moved the needle for them. They also unpack the mental side of it — how mental clarity and self-trust build alongside the physical changes, and why the glow up is as much an inside job as it is anything visible on the outside. 102. Am I Boring Now? The Fear of Losing Your Fun Side in Sobriety

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl podcast, Kat and Ewa talk about the fear of being boring in sobriety — one of the biggest (and most unspoken) fears when you get sober. They dig into why so many of us associate drinking with being fun, spontaneous, or interesting, and the fear that getting sober means becoming the “boring friend.” They talk about who you are when you’re not the party girl anymore, and how alcohol may have actually made life more repetitive than exciting — same bars, same conversations, same hangovers on repeat. Kat and Ewa also get into learning what you genuinely enjoy versus what you only enjoyed because alcohol was involved, why peace can feel like boredom at first when you’re used to chaos, dating sober and wondering if you’ll be seen as boring, and getting comfortable with quieter weekends instead of needing constant stimulation. Ultimately, it comes down to the real difference between being bored and being at peace and building a life that’s actually exciting, instead of needing alcohol to make ordinary life feel exciting. 101. The SoberFitGirl Mantra: I Am Not My Thoughts. I Am My Actions.

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl Podcast, Kathryn and Ewa dive into one of the most powerful mindset shifts for sobriety and personal growth: you are not your thoughts - you are your actions. Our minds can convince us we're not good enough, not ready, or destined to fail. They tell us to drink, skip the workout, stay in the unhealthy relationship, or give up on ourselves. But thoughts are not facts, and they don't have to dictate our choices. Together, Kathryn and Ewa discuss why negative thoughts are a normal part of being human, how to stop giving them so much power, and what it looks like to build confidence by taking action anyway. They share practical ways to separate yourself from your inner dialogue, challenge limiting beliefs, and become the person you want to be - one action at a time. If you've ever felt stuck because of what's happening in your head, this episode is your reminder that you don't have to believe every thought you think. You become who you are through the choices you make, not the thoughts you have. 100. Not Ready to Change But Did it Anyway

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl podcast, we’re talking about the moment none of us feel prepared for: the moment we decide to change anyway. Whether it was getting sober, starting a fitness journey, or walking away from something familiar but no longer good for us, none of us felt “ready.” We share what pushed us to act despite the fear, why waiting to feel ready is often just fear wearing a disguise, and what we’ve learned looking back on that leap. 98. Why the Best Things in Sobriety Take Time

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl Podcast, Kathryn and Ewa dive into the power of delayed gratification and why it's one of the most important skills you can build in sobriety. Alcohol offers instant relief, but sobriety teaches us to choose what we want most over what we want right now. Together, they discuss why delayed gratification can feel so uncomfortable at first, how our brains are wired for instant rewards, and why learning to sit with temporary discomfort leads to lasting freedom. They also explore how delayed gratification shows up in every area of life—from sobriety and fitness to relationships, finances, and personal growth—and share practical ways to strengthen this "muscle" one choice at a time. If you've ever struggled with cravings, impatience, or wondered why change feels so hard, this episode will remind you that every decision is a vote for the person you're becoming. 95. From Fantasy To Reality In Sobriety

In this episode of the SoberFitGirl Podcast, we’re talking about the gap between fantasy and reality — especially during our drinking days. The fantasy: drinking made us more fun, more confident, more social, helped us relax, helped us fit in, and was part of the life we wanted. The reality: the hangovers, broken promises, anxiety, unhealthy habits, and the ways alcohol impacted our relationship with ourselves. We’re diving into how fantasy showed up in our fitness journeys, relationships, and the way we viewed ourselves — chasing an image of who we thought we needed to be while ignoring what was actually happening. Now in sobriety, we’re learning to see things clearly. The reality of a sober life looks different: stronger relationships, showing up for ourselves, consistency in fitness, confidence that comes from within, and building a life we don’t need to escape from.
