How to Trust Your Intuition and Rebuild Self-Trust
Have you ever known something deep down... and then immediately talked yourself out of it? You feel the pull. Something feels off. You know it's time to move, say no, make a change, or finally do the thing you've been thinking about. Then fear, people-pleasing, overthinking, and everyone else's opinions get louder than your own voice. In this solo episode of The Shift with Beth Podcast, I'm talking about how I've learned to trust my intuition and rebuild self-trust after years of questioning my own knowing. Because self-trust isn't something you either have or you don't. It's a relationship you build. I share some of the moments that taught me this firsthand, from unexpectedly knowing it was time to take out my hair extensions to feeling called to start this podcast and getting an intuitive hit about TikTok years before I was actually ready for what that visibility required. We also get into an important distinction: intuition isn't the same as every story your mind creates. "Something feels off" is information. "They're lying to me and something terrible is going to happen" is a story. Learning to trust yourself means hearing the signal without immediately dismissing it or turning it into a conclusion. I also talk about rebuilding self-trust after gaslighting, the difference between intuition and hypervigilance, how people-pleasing can disguise itself as confusion, and why setting boundaries can become a powerful way of telling yourself, I believe you. I hear you. I'm staying with you. Trusting your intuition doesn't mean you'll always make the "right" decision. It means trusting yourself enough to listen, discern, take the next step, and know that whatever happens, you won't abandon yourself. If you've been second-guessing yourself, looking outside of yourself for answers, or feeling disconnected from your own knowing, I hope you'll listen to this one. You don't have to have everything figured out. Maybe this episode can simply be an invitation to get a little quieter and start listening to yourself again. In This Episode, I Talk About: Rebuilding self-trust after years of self-doubt How fear and people-pleasing can drown out intuition Following intuitive hits before you feel ready Trusting the timing instead of forcing an outcome Intuition vs. fear, anxiety, and hypervigilance Separating your inner knowing from the stories your mind creates Rebuilding self-trust after gaslighting Using boundaries to strengthen trust in yourself How people-pleasing can disguise itself as confusion Letting go of stories about what others think of you A somatic practice for releasing perceived judgment Trusting yourself even when others disagree Why self-trust doesn't mean always being right If this episode resonated, follow and subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next.
