10 Albums That Feel Like Fall

Some albums just feel right when the air starts getting colder. My brother and I share ten albums that feel like autumn to us, from Nick Drake’s Pink Moon to Death Cab for Cutie’s Plans, and the memories that make them fit. Some feel like a quiet night in, others like a drive with the windows down. They bring back memories of growing up, going back to school, and that feeling when summer is already a memory. Each record captures a different side of fall, and even the saddest ones can feel like a hug. We don’t always agree on the season, either: For Emma, Forever Ago might belong to winter. Which album do you always come back to when fall arrives?

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger Reminded Me Why I Love Music

Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger reminded me why I love music so much. My review of the new Oasis documentary, from Noel’s thoughts on nostalgia to the fan stories that made it feel so personal. After seeing Oasis twice on the reunion tour, watching this film brought me right back to those nights. I loved seeing Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher together, the humor in the rehearsals, and the stories of people who carry this band with them through their lives. For me, Oasis is more than a band. Their music makes me want to be myself, go out, have fun, and stop worrying so much about what other people think. This film reminded me of that feeling, and of how a song can understand you when you can’t quite explain yourself. If you’ve seen the film, which moment stayed with you the most? I’d love to hear in the comments. Subscribe for more conversations about the music we love on Record Room.

10 Songs That Defined 2000s Indie Rock

What does 2000s indie rock sound like in just 10 songs? In this episode of Record Room, my brother and I choose 10 songs that capture the sound, energy, and feeling of indie rock in the 2000s. This isn’t a ranking, and these aren’t necessarily our favorite songs. They’re 10 tracks that feel impossible to separate from the era, from the raw garage rock and post-punk revival of the early 2000s to the huge anthems, dance-floor energy, and more synth-driven sound that started emerging toward the end of the decade. From The Strokes and Interpol to Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Phoenix, we talk about the riffs, basslines, music videos, memories, and cultural moments that made these songs feel so defining of that era. Narrowing it down to only 10 was almost impossible, and some of our favorite songs didn’t make the final list. If you could add ONE song to this list, what would it be? Let us know in the comments 👇

Inside Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA Motion Picture House | Record Room Ep. 22

I went inside Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA Motion Picture House in Brooklyn, a large-scale audiovisual installation built around the music and artwork of Kid A and Amnesiac. In this episode of Record Room, I explore the galleries, enormous paintings, lyric sketches, televisions, sculptures, and artwork created by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood during the Kid A and Amnesiac recording sessions. The experience also includes a 75-minute film accompanied by a new mix drawn from the original multitracks and rendered in six-point surround sound. Kid A is one of my favorite albums of all time, and this genuinely felt like stepping inside the KID A MNESIA Exhibition in real life. The scale of the artwork, the visuals, and the sound made it one of the most memorable music experiences I’ve had in a while. Motion Picture House was at the Agger Fish Building in Brooklyn from May 6 to July 12, 2026. Upcoming stops: Ciudad de México: October 27 - November 15, 2026 San Francisco: January 14 - February 7, 2027 Kid A or Amnesiac? And which song would you most want to hear in spatial audio? Why Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged Is One of the Greatest Live Performances Ever | Record Room Ep. 14

Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York is one of the greatest live performances ever captured. In this episode of Record Room, we talk about the songs, covers, atmosphere, and choices that made this performance so unforgettable. From the unusual setlist and stripped back arrangements to The Meat Puppets section, the candlelit stage, and Kurt Cobain’s final vocal on “Where Did You Sleep Last Night,” this is our conversation about a performance that became part of music history. Nirvana did not give MTV a normal acoustic greatest hits show. They gave them deep cuts, strange covers, unexpected guests, and something far more intimate, fragile, and impossible to recreate. For this episode, we also brought candles and white Stargazer lilies into our own set as a small nod to the original MTV Unplugged stage. What is your favorite moment from Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged?
