Seattle Is BROKE… So Why Is It Paying $75/Hour for Equity Advisory Boards?

Seattle says it's facing massive budget shortfalls, but apparently there's still money to pay people $75 an hour to sit on government advisory workgroups. Meanwhile, taxpayers are left dealing with crumbling roads, rising property taxes, and growing concerns about public safety. In this episode of **Left Coast News**, we're exposing Seattle's Transportation Equity Workgroup and asking a simple question: **Why is Seattle spending taxpayer dollars on paid advisory committees while essential city services struggle?** According to Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) program guidelines, Transportation Equity Workgroup members can receive $75 per hour, with annual compensation capped at $7,500 per member. We're breaking down: 🔴 Seattle's ongoing budget problems and spending priorities 🔴 SDOT's paid Transportation Equity Workgroup 🔴 The $75-an-hour compensation structure 🔴 The Transportation Equity Framework and its 200-plus recommendations and strategies 🔴 Why taxpayers keep getting asked to approve additional transportation levies 🔴 Whether government should prioritize roads, infrastructure, and public safety over administrative programs **THE BIG QUESTION:** Should Seattle eliminate paid advisory boards and put that funding toward basic infrastructure and public safety instead? Washington taxpayers deserve transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of their hard-earned money. Government should serve the people, not the other way around. 💬 **JOIN THE CONVERSATION:** Are paid government advisory boards a legitimate use of taxpayer funds, or another example of bureaucratic waste? Tell us what you think in the comments! 👍 LIKE this video if you believe government spending deserves greater scrutiny. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE to Left Coast News for independent conservative commentary, government accountability, Washington State politics, and the stories impacting working Americans. 📢 SHARE this video with someone who is tired of watching taxes climb while basic services deteriorate. **Left Coast News | Holding Government Accountable** #Seattle #SeattlePolitics #WashingtonState #TaxpayerMoney #GovernmentWaste #SDOT #SeattleBudget #GovernmentAccountability #ConservativeNews #LeftCoastNews #PropertyTaxes #FiscalResponsibility #TransportationEquity #SeattleNews #PoliticalCommentary

$6 Diesel: A “Small Price to Pay”

Gas and diesel prices are hammering American families, truckers, farmers, commuters, and small businesses. At the same time, President Donald Trump has described higher fuel costs as a “small price to pay” in connection with preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. On this episode of Behind the Line Podcast, we examine the growing disconnect between Washington and the working Americans actually paying the bill at the pump. We break down the impact of the Iran conflict on global energy markets, the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, rising gasoline and diesel prices, and the ripple effects that higher transportation costs can have on groceries, freight, farming, small businesses, and household budgets. Preventing a nuclear-armed Iran raises serious national-security concerns. But what happens when the economic cost of foreign policy lands squarely on Americans already struggling with the cost of living? How much economic sacrifice should Americans be expected to make for national security, and how should political leaders address that burden? Seattle Mass Shooter Freed Early by Judge — Shoots Again 7 Months Later

In 2016, Alrick Hollingsworth opened fire at a crowded Seattle bus stop at 3rd and Pine, wounding five people. Despite prosecutors demanding 15 years, King County Superior Court Judge Averil Rothrock handed down a lenient sentence so he could "improve himself." Less than seven months after walking out of prison, Hollingsworth is back behind bars—charged with shooting a man in the neck in Federal Way in front of children and caught by Bellevue police carrying a loaded, chambered .45-caliber handgun. In this episode, we break down the bodycam footage, the failure of Washington’s revolving-door justice system, and why activist judges on the bench face zero accountability while putting innocent lives at risk. #KingCounty #SeattleNews #FederalWay #BellevueWA #WashingtonState #PacificNorthwest #3rdAndPine #TrueCrime #CrimeNews #LawEnforcement #BackTheBlue #JudicialAccountability #HoldJudgesAccountable #SoftOnCrime #RevolvingDoorJustice #LeftCoastNews #Police #CriminalJusticeReform #GunViolence #PublicSafety

Seattle’s New Gun Violence Plan: Why It Won’t Stop the Shooters

Seattle has unveiled a new plan to combat gun violence, but will it actually make the city safer? In this episode of Left Coast News, we examine Seattle’s latest gun violence strategy, including millions of dollars for community violence intervention programs, expanded patrols, academic research, violence-prevention initiatives, and proposed restrictions on firearms in public spaces. But there’s a bigger question: What happens when police arrest violent repeat offenders, only to see them return to the streets? We break down Seattle’s approach to violent crime, prosecution, repeat offenders, illegal firearms, gun-free zones, police staffing, and the criminal justice system. We also examine the constitutional concerns surrounding additional restrictions on lawful gun owners while criminals already prohibited from possessing firearms continue to carry them. Public safety requires more than studies, task forces, grants, and press conferences. It requires examining whether the criminal justice system is effectively identifying, prosecuting, and incapacitating the people actually committing violent crimes. From Belltown and Aurora Avenue to Rainier Beach and Little Saigon, Seattle residents and businesses deserve a serious conversation about crime, accountability, policing, prosecution, and the Second Amendment. California Death Penalty Showdown: Becerra, Newsom & the Will of the Voters

California’s death penalty is once again at the center of a major political and constitutional fight. California gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra says that, if elected, he would extend Gov. Gavin Newsom’s moratorium on executions. Becerra’s position is notable because, while serving as California attorney general, he previously expressed support for capital punishment and his office defended death sentences. In this episode of Left Coast News, we examine California’s long-running battle over the death penalty, executive power, the initiative process, victims’ rights, and the role of voters in determining state law. California voters rejected Proposition 34 in 2012, which would have abolished the death penalty. In 2016, voters rejected Proposition 62, another effort to abolish capital punishment, while approving Proposition 66, which sought to change procedures governing death-penalty appeals. Then, in 2019, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order establishing a moratorium on executions, withdrawing California’s lethal-injection protocol and closing the execution chamber at San Quentin. The order did not overturn existing convictions or death sentences. Now Becerra says he would continue the moratorium if elected governor. That raises a larger debate extending well beyond capital punishment: How should executive authority interact with laws and policies previously approved by voters? We break down Becerra’s record, Newsom’s executive order, California’s ballot-box history on capital punishment, and the competing arguments surrounding justice, constitutional government, public safety and the rights of crime victims. $1.17 BILLION in Questioned Costs: What Happened Under Jay Inslee?

$1.17 BILLION in Questioned Costs: What Happened Under Jay Inslee? Washington taxpayers deserve answers. A Washington State Auditor review identified $1.17 billion in questioned costs tied to federal COVID-19 relief funding, raising serious concerns about documentation, internal controls, eligibility verification, and oversight across state agencies. “Questioned costs” do not automatically mean fraud, but they can involve expenditures that auditors could not verify as compliant with federal requirements. In this episode of Left Coast News, we examine the failures that occurred during the Inslee administration, how billions in emergency federal dollars moved through Washington’s bureaucracy, and what questioned costs could ultimately mean for taxpayers. We break down: • What “questioned costs” actually means • The $1.17 billion figure and Washington’s COVID-era spending • Weaknesses in documentation and internal controls • The agencies responsible for administering federal funds • Whether questioned expenditures could eventually be subject to repayment • Why government accountability should matter regardless of political party The Washington State Auditor warns that questioned costs can result from inadequate documentation or failure to comply with federal grant requirements, and federal awarding agencies may ultimately require repayment. When government demands meticulous records from taxpayers, taxpayers have every right to demand the same standard from government. Seattle Mass Shooting Suspect FREE After Just 3 Years | William Tolliver Case

William Tolliver has been released from prison following the deadly 2020 downtown Seattle mass shooting at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street that killed Tanya Jackson and wounded seven others, including a 9-year-old boy. The Seattle shooting suspect ultimately received a 48-month sentence after King County prosecutors reduced the original first-degree murder case to second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, and unlawful firearm possession. On January 22, 2020, at least 24 rounds were fired in approximately six seconds during evening rush hour in downtown Seattle. Tanya Jackson, 50, was killed, and seven bystanders were wounded. William Tolliver and Marquise Tolbert fled Washington and were later captured by U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas. After Tolbert was acquitted of murder and assault, prosecutors amended Tolliver’s charges. Tolliver ultimately received a 48-month sentence and, after credit for time served and earned early release, served roughly three years behind bars. In this episode of Left Coast News, we examine the William Tolliver case, the 2020 Seattle shooting, King County prosecutors, Washington sentencing laws, repeat offenders, violent crime, and public safety in downtown Seattle. How does a shooting that left one person dead and seven wounded end with roughly three years behind bars?
