    UVU releases report following investigation into security around Charlie Kirk's death

    Utah Valley University has released the results of an independent investigation into security on campus around the time Charlie Kirk was killed. It looked at ways the university police and Turning Point USA worked together to plan the event andidentified areas of improvement. In the end, the investigation found that no one at UVU "acted in bad faith or in willful and wanton disregard for the safety of others." The Inside Sources hosts share some of the findings and recommended action items.

    Visit from Chinese President Xi wraps up today

    Chinese President Xi Jinping wraps up his U.S. visit this afternoon. He and President Trump are scheduled to tour the National Archives today before President Xi departs. Earlier this morning, they had tea together. But the President complains that not all news outlets covered the visit, including the media groups he barred from the White House.     Ask the Attorney: Kevin O'Leary asks for dismissal of defamation lawsuit

    The man behind the Stratos Data Center in Box Elder County -- the project that spurred so much public pushback on data centers around the state -- now says the defamation lawsuit against him should be dismissed with prejudice (meaning it couldn't come back to court). Kevin O'Leary says no reasonable person who saw him make the claims on Fox News of Chinese spies would actually take them as factual reports. But the people who he spoke of see it differently, so they've filed this defamation suit against O'Leary over his allegations that they're being funded by the Chinese Communist Party.     Poll: Vast majority of Utahns agree in treating people fairly as dictated by God

    A wide majority of Utahns say they agree with comments made by President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at a Constitution Day event last week. Greg and Holly continued to be inspired by those remarks; they've spoken about them a few times now. Today, we're reading that nearly 9 in 10 Utahns agree with President Oaks' speech, especially his belief that a person's commitment to God requires treating other people fairly.     Utah County prosecutors take the death penalty off the table for Douglas Carter's retrial

    In a pretty large development, Utah County prosecutors say they no longer intend to seek the death penalty in the murder case against Douglas Carter. Carter was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Eva Olesen back in 1985. Since then, his conviction has been overturned twice, most recently in 2022 due to police and prosecutor misconduct. KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas breaks down what this development means.

    Utah's Senator John Curtis is sharing more insights into his recent calls for congressional hearings on the Biden and Trump families' business dealings. Earlier this week, he said he's concerned about corruption and members of both families using their White House associations to make lots of money. The Senator says he still hasn't heard from the White House about his calls, though several Republican lawmakers have voiced their opposition to his calls. On the other hand, Senator Curtis says he's gotten a lot of support from people on both sides of the aisle. Jim and Greg discuss the senator's calls for subpoenas.

    Members of the press face challenges getting into White House following ban from the President

    Hurdles remained this morning for several reporters to get into the White House, despite a federal judge ruling overnight that the Trump Administration must allow CNN, MS NOW, and Politico onto the grounds. The judge issued a temporary stay for 14 days while the news outlets' lawsuit plays out. But when reporters, producers, and photographers showed up this morning to enter the White House, many of them were still not allowed in. During the course of our show, the Trump administration reversed course and allowed those journalists into the building.

    Salt Lake City planning commission approves contentious plan to expand housing

    A controversial proposal to expand housing options in Salt Lake City will move ahead to the city council, after the city planning commission gave it the green light last night. The proposal could make several changes to residential zones in the city and would allow landowners to build additional homes on their properties. For the latest on the plans and what happened with city leaders, KSL digital reporter Carter Williams joins Greg Skordas and guest host Jim Bennett.
