In November 1995, a hunter found 12-year-old Josette Wright’s body in Putnam County woods. Three days later, 19-year-old Anthony DiPippo was arrested for her murder. Wrongfully convicted in 1997 and sentenced to 25 years to life, he was exonerated in October 2016 after three trials. Detective Pat Castaldo, lead investigator, framed Anthony by shaping testimony from his former girlfriend, who became the prosecution's star witness. Friends’ statements obtained after Castaldo lied to them were later recanted. Steve was the national lead for the Investigation of Deaths in Healthcare settings and the author of national police guidelines for investigating deaths in healthcare settings. He has been a prominent critic of Cheshire Police's investigation into Lucy Letby in the context that it suffered from confirmation bias and failed to explore alternative medical explanations.

Nineteen Nurses is a collective of dedicated nurses advocating for healthcare reform and patient safety. Its members bring expertise from across nursing and seek to ensure healthcare professionals’ voices inform key decisions. The group is currently campaigning for an independent review of the Lucy Letby case, arguing that transparency and accountability are vital to public trust and patient safety. The case has raised concerns about police investigations into healthcare misconduct, particularly the use of hospital staff as investigation assistants rather than treating them as persons of interest. Interning with the Innocence Project London

In this episode, IPL Director Louise Hewitt is in conversation with four interns from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. The long -standing partnership between the IPL and UNC Chapel Hill has meant that a number of interns have been able to undertake work for the IPL.
