Defense shines again, offense gets back on track in Iowa's fifth straight win vs. Wisconsin

Iowa shut out Wisconsin for a second straight season, forcing three Badger turnovers and only allowed 235 yards in a 30-0 Halloween Homecoming win in Iowa City. Hank Brown's first start since October 3 brought a spark to a Hawkeye offense now without starting running back Kamari Moulton. Brown threw for 222 yards and two scores and the trio of Tony Diaz (75 yards, TD), DJ Vonnahme (54 yards, 2 TD), and Reece Vander Zee (51 yards) displayed their potency in the passing game. Iowa now enters November at 6-2 (3-2 Big Ten) and should appear in the season's first College Football Playoff rankings when they're released on Tuesday. Learn more about your ad choices. Jeremiah Smith, Buckeyes too much for Iowa, Hawks drop first game of the season

Iowa held firm against fifth ranked Ohio State for a half, but Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes were just too much, pulling away to win 31-14. Missed opportunities in the first half killed the Hawkeyes chance of keeping this a game, with special teams errors, turnovers, and self-inflected penalties killing scoring opportunities. Iowa drops its first game of the season to one of the best teams in the country and will fall in the polls, but still a lot to play for. We also talk about the injuries to key Hawkeyes, including Hank Brown, and the College GameDay experience. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hawks STUN Michigan in the Big House on last-second Reece Vander Zee touchdown

The Hawkeyes pulled out a massive win Saturday at the Big House. Hank Brown found Reece Vander Zee as time expired to give Iowa the 20-19 win. Michigan outgained Iowa 429 to 285 but the Wolverines came up empty on a couple red zone appearances that could've swayed the game the other direction. Iowa capitalized scoring 13 points in the final quarter after struggling on offense early. Braeden Jackson scored Iowa's only points off a 99-yard kickoff return in the first quarter which kept them in the game. Photo credit: Gregory Shamus/Getty Images Learn more about your ad choices.
