She Hacked Her Own Brain Stem to Learn to Walk Again
In 2012, Mandy Logan survived a gang attack that led to four clinical deaths and a series of strokes — leaving her with no memory, no ability to speak, and no control over her own body. Doctors had no real precedent for her recovery. What followed was years of near-total isolation, teaching herself a binary system just to communicate, and slowly, deliberately rebuilding her body and mind — eventually finding her way into weightlifting and, today, a respected voice in the cybersecurity community at events like DEF CON. This is a conversation about what it actually takes to rebuild from nothing, and why she believes most people give up on their health long before they have any real reason to.
