Guide to Mythology

In Guide to Mythology, I strive to provide young readers with a solid foundation in the captivating world of myths, drawing upon the latest scholarly research while keeping their developing minds in mind. This book presents a selection of engaging stories that not only entertain but also subtly introduce the principles of Comparative Mythology for those who may wish to explore further down the line. The ongoing debates about the authenticity of primitive myths often seem misguided, as a myth is inherently fluid. Each storyteller adds their unique flair, yet the core essence remains intact. Just as Ovid’s retellings preserve the spirit of Greek myths, so too can we appreciate the heart of savage myths, regardless of embellishments. In this volume, you will find carefully chosen versions of these tales that are both captivating and accessible, with a strong emphasis on the original mindset and customs they embody.
