S7E41 - Proving a Miracle: A Neuroscientist Investigates Healing Prayer. With Ken Fish, Dr. Joshua Brown & Joel Taylor

Ken Fish and Joel Taylor sit down with Dr. Joshua Brown—neuroscientist, professor of psychological and brain sciences, and author of Proving a Miracle: Unlocking the Power of Prayer to Heal. Josh shares the story that set him on this path: at 30, days after his first child was born, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given little medical hope. What followed was a years-long pursuit of healing prayer—and, eventually, a clean scan. That journey turned a hard-nosed brain scientist into a careful investigator of divine healing, and this conversation models how faith and rigorous inquiry can work together rather than against each other. In this conversation: Josh's journey from a brain-tumor diagnosis to a clean scan What actually counts as a "miracle"—and why precision builds credibility How placebo and mind-body effects work (and where they break down) Scientific vs. historical ways of investigating a healing The randomized clinical trial of prayer—and what it found Why the hard questions should come from inside the church Confirmation bias—and guarding against it without losing faith How our beliefs are shaped by experience, not just Scripture A brief, candid detour into UFOs, trauma, and discernment Not everything is a miracle—and if everything is, then nothing is. Precision about what God has done makes the testimony stronger, not weaker. 📅 Hear more from Dr. Joshua Brown and Ken Fish at the Heal the Healers conference | Oct 30–31 | Boston, MA: https://healthehealersconference.com Connect with Orbis Ministries 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E40 - Revival in the Air: Miracles, Foundations & the Fear of the Lord. With Ken Fish, Jerame Nelson & Kady Taylor

Ken Fish and Kady Taylor welcome back Jerame Nelson—revivalist, evangelist, and pastor of Rev Church, who has seen millions come to Christ in the nations—and a returning speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Jerame shares from a year marked by revival, international crusades, and remarkable creative miracles, and senses another move of God stirring. But the conversation goes deeper than the miraculous. Against the backdrop of recent falls and exposures in ministry, Jerame and Ken talk candidly about responding rather than reacting, refusing hero worship, and why solid foundations, real discipleship, and consecration born of love—not legalism—are the way forward. In this conversation: A year of revival, international crusades, and creative miracles Responding rather than reacting to falls and exposures in ministry Overcoming hero worship—anchoring faith in Jesus, not people Why the enemy targets and "falsely promotes" a cracked foundation Discerning a true word of knowledge from a "familiar spirit" Why the coming move needs a manifestation of love, not just power How Jesus discipled the unlikely—and tested them by sending them out Consecration born of love, not legalism—and the fear of the Lord Conviction vs. condemnation—and how to tell the difference Fall so in love with Jesus that you'd never want to grieve His heart—that's where holiness begins. S7E39 - The Prophetic Journey: Calling, Character & the Long Game. With Ken Fish, David Taylor & Kady Taylor

Ken Fish and Kady Taylor welcome back David Taylor—a seasoned prophet, longtime friend of Ken's from their Fuller Seminary and Vineyard days, and a returning speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ With more than 50 years of prophetic experience, David brings hard-won wisdom to this year's theme of consecration and holiness. Reflecting on the recent shaking in prophetic ministry, he and Ken talk honestly about the temptations that derail prophets—fear of failure, insecurity, the craving for affirmation, and financial pressure—and the way back: the fear of the Lord, integrity, and relationships that keep us grounded. David also opens up about his own prophetic journey, the character-forging wilderness years, and the encounters that marked his calling. In this conversation: The temptations that derail prophets—and the way back to integrity Isaiah 32: "the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands" Why relationship, not just "accountability," keeps us grounded David's prophetic journey—from conversion at 18 to the wilderness years Angelic encounters, visions, and how common they are among prophets How to grow in hearing God—the discipline of listening The five-fold ministry pictured as a sailing ship The life of Joseph: "tested until it proved him true" Living the long game—a seed that must fall and die to bear fruit Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ ❤️‍🩹 Healing service September 30 | NOW AT FULL CAPACITY - the service portion of the evening will be livestreamed and available online here. S7E38 - A New Breed of Prophetic Ministry: Healing, Integrity & Hosting the Presence. With Ken Fish, Melissa Chalhoub, Grant Pemberton & Kady Taylor

Ken Fish is joined by Grant Pemberton, Kady Taylor, and returning guest Melissa Chalhoub—a prophetic minister whose heart is to help people discern the voice of God with accuracy, humility, and love, and a speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ After several painful years of exposure and upheaval in prophetic ministry, this conversation asks the honest questions: What is God doing in the midst of it all? What is the enemy after? And how do we reform the prophetic without throwing it away? Together they hold two things at once—unflinching honesty about the abuse, hype, and lack of accountability that have wounded so many, and a deep conviction that genuine prophetic ministry heals, sets free, and points people to Jesus. Melissa shares candidly about her own journey and about learning to trust God's voice even through the smallest details. In this conversation: What God is doing—and what the enemy is after—in the shaking of the prophetic Why the prophetic heals, sets free, and points people to Jesus The "commercialization of the Holy Spirit" and the need for accountability "The answer to abuse is never neglect"—reforming without quenching the Spirit Acknowledging the pain of those wounded by prophetic abuse How every believer can learn to hear God's voice Melissa's own journey with the prophetic The role of discernment—and asking God for it Hosting the presence of God and "bringing back the ark" Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ ❤️‍🩹 Healing service September 30 | NOW AT FULL CAPACITY - the service portion of the evening will be livestreamed and available online here. S7E37 - The Joy of Holiness: A New Testament Scholar on Consecration & the Fire of God. With Ken Fish, Dr. Craig Keener & Joel Taylor

Ken Fish and Joel Taylor welcome back Dr. Craig Keener—one of the world's leading New Testament scholars and a returning speaker at the Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Bringing deep knowledge of Scripture together with a genuine hunger for the Holy Spirit, Dr. Keener unpacks this year's theme: consecration and holiness. He shares how he came to see holiness not as legalism or externals, but as loving God so much that nothing else compares—a burning, consuming fire. Drawing on the biblical language of light and glory and his firsthand experience of the 2023 Asbury outpouring, he describes a holiness that is deeply joyful: God's presence made accessible, His grace not only forgiving sin but transforming us into the image of His Son. In this conversation: Holiness as loving God above all—not legalism or externals The biblical language of light, glory & the cloud of God's presence Dr. Keener's firsthand experience of the 2023 Asbury outpouring Why grace is about both salvation AND transformation How word and Spirit belong together Walking and being led by the Spirit day by day "Consecrated in Christ"—already set apart, called to live it out How one generation's revival can become the next's legalism The awakening the church needs in this hour Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ ❤️‍🩹 Healing service September 30 | NOW AT FULL CAPACITY - the service portion of the evening will be livestreamed and available online here. S7E36 - Church Planting, Discipleship & the Grace to Be Holy. With Ken Fish, Jimmy Seibert & Joel Taylor

Church Planting, Discipleship & the Grace to Be Holy | Ken Fish, Jimmy Seibert & Joel Taylor Ken Fish and Joel Taylor welcome back Jimmy Seibert—leader of Antioch Waco and the Antioch Movement, one of the most effective church-planting movements in the Western world, and a speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Jimmy shares how the movement grew out of a full surrender as a young believer and a conviction that the local church is meant to both house and multiply the glory of God. The conversation ranges across world evangelization, why believers buy the lie that they aren't needed, and how partnering with God to reach every people group helps prepare the way for Christ's return. At its heart, it's about intimacy with God as the source of everything—"it takes God to do the work of God"—and why consecration and holiness are themselves a grace: power over sin, not just forgiveness of it. In this conversation: How the Antioch church-planting movement grew out of full surrender "A church for every 1,000 people"—and why the US is underserved Why the enemy's great lie is that you're not needed Partnering with God to "hasten" Christ's return (Matthew 24:14) Reaching the next generation through heart, home, and shared mission Discipleship that empowers rather than creates dependence Maturity as taking responsibility for your own walk with God Consecration and holiness as grace—power over sin, not just forgiveness Why you can't set others free until you've been set free Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Connect with Orbis Ministries 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E35 - Living Your Faith Out Loud: Consecration and Courage in the Face of Culture. With Ken Fish, Casey Harper & Joel Taylor

What does it take to live your faith out loud in a culture that resists it? Ken Fish and Joel Taylor sit down with Casey Harper—D.C. journalist, host of The Outstanding Podcast, managing editor for broadcast at The Washington Stand, and a speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ From his vantage point between the White House and the Capitol, Casey shares his journey from small-town East Texas to the front lines of faith and public life. Together the three explore a recovered theology of persecution "for righteousness' sake," why a healthy faith must be able to stand even when the church is weak, the difference between partisanship and faithful engagement in the public square, and how personal consecration builds the fortitude to do the right thing under pressure. It all ties back to the conference theme—consecration and holiness—and Casey's striking word from Joel 3: "consecrate for war," a call to spiritual preparation, not violence. In this conversation: Casey's journey from East Texas to faith and public life in D.C. What makes living your faith "out loud" so challenging today Recovering a theology of being "persecuted for righteousness' sake" Why a mature faith can stand alone—without abandoning community Partisanship vs. politics in the public square How consecration builds inner fortitude "Consecrate for war" (Joel 3)—preparation for the days ahead The example of Perpetua and the great cloud of witnesses Hope for a generation looking for something real Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Connect with Orbis Ministries 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E34 -Brokenness Before the Lord: Giving God Access to Your Heart. With Ken Fish, Jeffrey Fazl & Kady Taylor

What if the light God placed in you only shines as the vessel breaks? Ken Fish and Kady Taylor welcome back Jeffrey Fazl—longtime friend, church planter, and deliverance minister from Australia—for an honest, tender conversation ahead of the Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Jeffrey shares openly about seasons of "eclipse"—years in Indonesia, deep grief, and recent dark nights of the soul—and how the Lord kept drawing him back out with fresh purpose. From that comes the thread running through the whole conversation: brokenness feeds the carnal man, and healing it—through inner healing, deliverance, and confession together—sets us free to shine. Tying it to the conference theme, he unpacks luminosity as the light within, emerging not by striving but as the fear and performance that keep us hidden are healed. In this conversation: Jeffrey's seasons of "eclipse"—and how the Lord drew him back out Why "brokenness feeds the carnal man" How inner healing, deliverance, and confession work together Luminosity as the light within, emerging as the vessel breaks The difference between damaging brokenness and being broken before the Lord Keeping a soft heart instead of hardening it The war against a "performance" mindset Reaching the next generation with heroes, encounter, and real power Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Connect with Orbis Ministries 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E33 - Rebuilding the Prophetic: Judgment, Holiness & the Way Forward. With Ken Fish, John E. Thomas & Joel Taylor

What happened to the prophetic movement—and what will it take to rebuild it? Ken Fish and Joel Taylor sit down with John E. Thomas, leader of Streams Ministries International (founded by the late John Paul Jackson) and a speaker at the upcoming Luminosity conference (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ John argues that the implosion of the prophetic over recent years is both the inevitable fruit of what was sown and the judgment of God—a purging meant to clear away defilement so a healthier generation can arise. He traces the warning signs back to the 1990s: creeping Gnosticism and universalism, divination dressed up as revelation, the loss of the fear of the Lord, and the teaching that imagination is revelation and discernment is unnecessary. The conversation keeps returning to the conference theme—consecration and holiness—and why a clean "lens" is essential to perceiving what God is actually saying. In this conversation: Why the collapse of the prophetic was both consequence and divine judgment Why true prophetic ministry includes justice and judgment, not only comfort "Imagination is revelation" and other dangerous errors Emotional atmosphere vs. the genuine presence of God How the medium we learn through shapes the way we think Why intercession is core to the prophetic The sons of Zadok—and treating the holy as holy Why holiness keeps the lens of the soul clean Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard Connect with Orbis Ministries 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E32 - Prophetic Integrity in a Post-Truth Age. With Ken Fish, Dr. Mark Chironna & Kady Taylor

In an age that rewards outrage and calls it revelation—what does real prophetic integrity look like? Ken Fish and Kady Taylor welcome back Dr. Mark Chironna—prophet, teacher, and holder of three earned doctorates—for a deep, honest conversation on the prophetic, the church, and the way forward. Dr. Mark Chironna will be one of the speakers at Luminosity (Nashville, Oct 1–3, 2026). Register: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ He names the challenges of a post-truth age—celebrity Christianity, the "McDonaldization" of the church, and self-appointed prophets without accountability—yet remains deeply hopeful about a fresh move of the Spirit in the next generation. Drawing on his book ‘Prophetic Integrity and the Elijah Legacy’, he shares candidly about his own dark season of anxiety and depression, and how God meets us in the darkness. In this conversation: Celebrity Christianity and the "McDonaldization" of the church Why the future belongs to a Spirit-filled, global church Being "Barnabas" to the next generation Dr. Mark's dark season—and how God met him in it Why accurate predictions alone don't make a true prophet The "heavenly council" and the prophethood of all believers Why there's no transformation—and no wisdom—without suffering 📘 Dr. Mark Chironna's book: Prophetic Integrity and the Elijah Legacy Register for Luminosity: 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Connect with Orbis Ministries: 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis: 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. S7E31 - Shining Bright - How Consecration Affects Luminosity. With Ken Fish, Putty Putman, Grant Pemberton & Kady Taylor

What does it mean to truly shine for God? In this episode of God Is Not a Theory, Ken Fish is joined by physicist-turned-minister Putty Putman—along with Grant Pemberton and Kady Taylor—for a thoughtful conversation ahead of Orbis Ministries' Luminosity Conference. Together, they explore the biblical meaning of luminosity—what it means to reflect God's light in the world—and why consecration and holiness are essential for every believer. They discuss how science and faith complement one another, the dangers of building morality around self, and why this is a season to embrace spiritual disciplines with renewed intentionality. Whether you're preparing to attend Luminosity or simply longing to grow deeper in your walk with Christ, this conversation offers practical wisdom and fresh encouragement. In this episode:• What "luminosity" means—and why Jesus called us the light of the world• Why science and faith flow from the same source• Consecration as an act of the will; holiness as a lifestyle• The Old Testament picture of unclean, clean, and holy• Why "toddler morality" falls short of biblical holiness• Letting God—not self—define the center of our moral universe• The present grace for spiritual disciplines and an ordered life• Recognizing God's kairos moments and responding with faith Register for Luminosity 📅 October 1–3, 2026 | Nashville Area (Bethel World Outreach Church)❤️‍🩹 Healing Service: September 30 at Franklin Vineyard 🎟️ Register today: https://kingdomluminosity.org/ Connect with Orbis Ministries 🙏 Prayer: https://orbisprayer.org/ ❤️ Give: https://subsplash.com/orbisministries/give Grow with Orbis 📖 Read: On the Road with the Holy Spirit by Ken Fish 🎓 Learn: Enroll in Orbis School of Ministry or contact Registrar Jo McKay at jo@orbisministries.org 💪 Train: Apply to serve on an upcoming overseas ministry trip. 🤝 Connect: Join Ken's private Facebook discussion group, God Is Not a Theory. As they reflect on the journey from Fusion and Ignition to Illumination and now Luminosity, the conversation moves beyond conference planning to explore a deeper question: What kind of Church is God preparing for the days ahead? Ken shares how each conference has built on the previous one, leading to this year's emphasis on becoming people who shine and who are radiant with the character of Jesus. Together, they discuss why miracles and healing should always be accompanied by discipleship and character formation, why humility and holiness are essential for lasting ministry, and how believers can pursue both the power of God and the life that reflects His nature. They also explain why Luminosity is designed to be more than an event—it's an invitation to deeper transformation and a renewed commitment to Christ that goes beyond the conference. Whether you're attending Luminosity or simply longing to grow in your walk with God, this conversation will encourage you to pursue a life marked by both holiness and the power of the Holy Spirit. Topics Include: The vision behind Luminosity Why consecration and holiness matter today Character and power working together Healing ministry and discipleship The importance of humility in leadership Building lasting spiritual foundations The Church's witness in a dark world Why revival begins with transformed lives Preparing for what God is doing next What to expect at Luminosity 🔑Key Takeaways: Holiness is not optional—it's central to Christian discipleship. The power of God should always be accompanied by Christlike character. Healing ministry is about loving people, not simply producing results. Humility creates space for God to work through us. Lasting revival is built on transformed lives, not momentary experiences. Having already covered narcissism, codependency, and paranoia, they turn to two more patterns that quietly derail leaders and wound those around them: the compulsive leader and the passive-aggressive leader. Dr. Richard J. Roberts explains why churches so often unintentionally advertise for—and reward—these very traits, why a gifted second-in-command can unravel once handed the top seat, and how anger that never gets named leaks out sideways and poisons a team. From there the conversation widens. Ken and Dr. Richard J. Roberts walk through the Johari Window as a tool for self-awareness, weigh behavior-change against motive-hunting, and take on the deeper questions: Can these patterns actually be healed? What does real accountability look like? And how do two powerful archetypes—the "Great Mother" who must meet every need, and the "Wise Old Man" who offers secret, deeper-life knowledge—shape (and distort) charismatic church culture. They close with wise, practical counsel for anyone who finds themselves under an unhealthy leader. Together, they discuss: The compulsive leader: perfectionism, control, workaholism, and criticism of others Why churches so often advertise for a "compulsive leader" Provision, pay, and the abuse of underpaying ministry workers The passive-aggressive leader: unowned anger, delay, barbed "humor," and the silent treatment The Johari Window—and using "I" statements to open up blind spots Behavior first, motive later: why changing the "how" often precedes the "why" Whether these patterns are fixable, and why change usually comes through process and discomfort Psychology vs. a theological lens—and recovering the care of souls Two archetypes shaping the church: the "Great Mother" and the "Wise Old Man" Discernment, angelic claims, and testing everything against the received gospel What to do if you find yourself under an unhealthy leader Honest, gracious, and deeply practical, this is a hope-filled conversation about the woundedness beneath the dysfunction—and the community, humility, and grace that make real change possible. 🔑 Key Takeaways Churches often reward the very traits that harm them Underpaying and overworking ministry staff is not godliness—it's abuse Passive-aggression is unowned anger that leaks out sideways Self-awareness grows through honest, loving feedback in real community Changing behavior often comes before understanding the "why" Change requires motivation—usually prompted by discomfort or desire The "Great Mother" and "Wise Old Man" archetypes distort church culture Test every teaching—even claimed angelic revelation—against the received gospel In a narcissistic system, the wisest first step is often to get out 📘 Check out Dr. Richard J. Roberts' book, Rediscovering Church as Networks: https://a.co/d/0hD3wTJW In this episode of God Is Not a Theory, Ken Fish is joined by Dr. Richard J. Roberts and Kady Taylor for an honest conversation about one of the greatest challenges every leader faces—not external pressures, but the hidden issues within. Drawing on decades of experience in medicine, psychotherapy, theological education, and church leadership, Dr. Roberts explores why self-awareness is one of the most important qualities of healthy leadership. Together, they examine how seemingly small character traits can quietly grow into destructive patterns that affect leaders, churches, and entire ministries. Rather than focusing on labels, the conversation unpacks the leadership tendencies that can emerge in anyone—from narcissistic traits and codependency to insecurity, the pursuit of status, and the temptation to believe our own success. Ken, Richard, and Kady discuss why humility, accountability, and honest relationships are essential for long-term ministry health. Whether you're a pastor, ministry leader, business leader, or simply desire to grow in character, this episode offers practical wisdom for leading with integrity, emotional health, and Christlike humility. Topics Include: Why self-awareness is essential for healthy leadership Narcissistic traits versus narcissistic personality disorder The dangers of believing your own success Codependency and unhealthy ministry dynamics Why titles and status can become traps Emotional health in Christian leadership Building cultures of humility and accountability Recognizing blind spots before they become failures Healthy relationships in ministry Developing Christlike leadership Key Takeaways: Self-awareness is foundational to lasting leadership. Healthy leaders invite honest feedback and accountability. Character matters more than charisma or gifting. Leadership failures often begin with small, unnoticed patterns. Humility protects leaders from believing their own success. Healthy churches are built by healthy leaders. Spiritual maturity requires continual growth and self-examination. Roberts and Joel Taylor for an insightful conversation about what healthy apostolic leadership really looks like. With more than forty years of church leadership experience—and a unique background in family medicine, psychotherapy, theology, and missional leadership—Dr. Richard Roberts brings a thoughtful perspective to one of the Church's most pressing questions: How do we cultivate leaders who build healthy, flourishing communities instead of unhealthy systems? Together, they explore the biblical model of leadership, contrasting today's organizational approaches with the New Testament vision of the Church as a spiritual family. They discuss why spiritual fatherhood matters, the dangers of pursuing titles and status, how authentic apostolic ministry produces communities rather than platforms, and why identity must always come before function. Topics Include: What healthy apostolic leadership looks like Why the Church is called to be a family Spiritual fathers and mothers in the Kingdom The problem with titles and status Leadership through relationship instead of hierarchy Why identity comes before function Building genuine Christian community Family-based churches and church planting The role of hospitality in discipleship Creating healthy cultures for future generations Whether you lead a movement or simply love Jesus and serve in your local church, this is a clarifying, refreshing conversation about what the church was always meant to be. 🔑 Key Takeaways "Apostle" is best understood as a description, not a title Identity precedes function—who we are comes before what we do The church is fundamentally a family, not an organization Authority in the kingdom is exercised through relationship, not position Genuine community, not big meetings, formed the early church Hospitality and shared life are central to mission Suffering, not status, marks true apostolic ministry For every believer: ask who is discipling you, and whom you are discipling How to Engage with Orbis: Check out Ken's book: On the Road with the Holy Spirit Partner with Orbis Financially: GIVE Are you interested in learning about Holy Spirit-led ministry? As headlines continue to focus on negotiations, ceasefires, and regional tensions, many Christians are asking important questions: What is actually in the Iran Deal? Why are Iran's proxy armies such a major concern? How do these developments affect Israel and America's allies in the region? Drawing on decades of experience in Israel and extensive knowledge of Middle Eastern history, Avner provides valuable context behind the headlines while helping believers think biblically and wisely about current events. Topics Include: What the Iran Deal actually proposes Iran's proxy armies and regional influence Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis Israel's current security challenges The role of Gulf nations in the conflict Geopolitics and diplomacy in the Middle East Biblical prophecy and current events Why Christians should pay attention Discernment in an age of information overload Praying for Israel and the nations This is a challenging, candid episode that pulls current events into a biblical frame and calls believers to sober, prayerful attention to the times. S7E24 - Covenantal Nomism: What is it and why does it matter? With Ken Fish & Joel Taylor

At its heart, the idea is simple but transformative—Israel never became the people of God by working their way in. They were chosen purely by grace, "not because you were impressive, not because you were big." (see Deuteronomy 7:6-8). The law was never the entrance fee; it was the way God's people stayed in, lived out, and were identified as belonging to His household. The same pattern holds for believers today.Using the picture of an adopted child learning the "rules of the house," Ken and Joel show how grace brings us into the family—and how the Holy Spirit then empowers us to actually live the life we've been called to. Together, they discuss: What covenantal nomism is and why it dissolves the false war between grace and obedience The adoption analogy—learning the rules of the Father's house A walkthrough of Colossians 3: putting to death the old self and putting on the new Why "be holy as I am holy" means being set apart, not earning your place A walkthrough of Galatians 5: the works of the flesh vs. the fruit of the Spirit Why being "not under the law" doesn't mean living however you want How unrepentant sin opens the door to the demonic—and why deliverance helps believers stay in bounds The difference between inner healing and deliverance Why even a single sinful action can carry real spiritual consequences Donald Hagner's insight: we're freed from the law to produce the very righteousness the law demandedThis conversation is both deeply theological and intensely practical—a corrective to hyper-grace thinking and a hope-filled vision of the normal, victorious Christian life lived as sons and daughters who honor their Father. 🔑 Key Takeaways God's covenant has always begun with grace Obedience is a response to belonging, not a way to earn belonging The Old and New Testaments are more connected than many realize "Not under the law" is not a license for the flesh The fruit of the Spirit, not the works of the flesh, marks kingdom life The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live differently Deliverance and inner healing help believers live free The goal is becoming like Jesus, not merely behaving better How to Engage with Orbis: - Check out Ken's book, On the Road with the Holy Spirit - Partner with Orbis Financially - Are you interested in learning about Holy Spirit-led ministry? Why do so many Christians struggle to stay engaged with Scripture? How do we move beyond simply checking a box and develop a genuine hunger for God's Word? Drawing from their own journeys, Ken, Joel, and Kady discuss how Scripture has shaped their lives, why the Old Testament still matters, and how reading the Bible consistently can transform the way we think, pray, and hear from God. Ken shares the Bible reading plans that influenced him throughout his life, explains the value of reading entire books of the Bible in one sitting, and offers practical advice for anyone wanting to build a lifelong habit of engaging with Scripture. Kady also shares her testimony of asking God for a deeper hunger for His Word—and how that prayer radically changed her relationship with the Bible. Together, they explore: Why reading the whole Bible matters The difference between information and transformation How the Holy Spirit helps illuminate Scripture Why the Old Testament is still essential for believers The value of reading large portions of Scripture How modern technology affects our ability to read deeply Practical Bible reading plans and habits Why physical Bibles still have unique value How Scripture shapes spiritual maturity Developing a lifelong hunger for God's Word This episode is both practical and encouraging for new believers, seasoned Christians, pastors, and anyone who wants to grow deeper in their relationship with God through His Word. 🔑 Key Takeaways The Bible was meant to be read, not merely referenced Spiritual hunger can be cultivated through prayer The Holy Spirit brings Scripture to life Reading large sections helps reveal the bigger story of God The Old Testament remains foundational for understanding the New Testament Consistency matters more than perfection Physical Bibles can aid deeper engagement and retention God's Word transforms us over time Bible reading is about relationship, not religious obligation The Church needs a renewed commitment to Scripture How to Engage with Orbis: - Check out Ken's book, On the Road with the Holy Spirit - Partner with Orbis Financially - Are you interested in learning about Holy Spirit-led ministry? The conversation begins by addressing a common fear among Christians—that taking the Old Testament seriously somehow places believers “back under the law.” Ken carefully unpacks why this mindset misunderstands both the Old and New Covenants. Drawing from Scripture, church history, and practical examples, he demonstrates that God’s nature has never changed and that the Old Testament remains foundational for understanding the New Testament. Together, they discuss: Why “all Scripture is God-breathed” originally referred to the Old Testament The danger of functionally ignoring the Old Testament God as Father throughout both covenants The meaning of holiness, honor, and representing the family name of God The concept of Tamim—walking upright before God How grace is not merely forgiveness, but divine empowerment Why faith was never meant to remain passive The modern crisis of lawlessness and loss of honor And what the New Testament actually requires of believers living as God’s people Ken also gives a powerful walkthrough of 2 Peter 1, showing how Christians are called to actively grow in virtue, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love—not to earn salvation, but because they already belong to the household of God. This episode is both theological and deeply practical, offering a corrective to hyper-grace thinking while presenting a beautiful vision of living faithfully as sons and daughters who honor their Father. 🔑 Key Takeaways The Old Testament still matters God’s nature has not changed God revealed Himself as Father long before the New Testament Grace existed in the Old Testament The law was not about earning sonship Holiness reflects family identity Grace is also divine empowerment Faith must mature into character Modern culture struggles with honor and submission The Christian life requires transformation How to Engage with Orbis: - Check out Ken's book, On the Road with the Holy Spirit - Partner with Orbis Financially - Are you interested in learning about Holy Spirit-led ministry?
