The Haunted Prison That Held the Real Peaky Blinders

Steelhouse Lane Lockup in Birmingham served as a police custody building for over a century, imprisoning criminals like the real Peaky Blinders gang members awaiting their court date, and the justice that followed. But even before it closed in 2016 and subsequently reopened as a museum for West Midlands Police, people have seen strange things that they couldn’t explain, and heard noises echoing where they shouldn’t. At Steelhouse Lane, it’s almost as if there’s still someone keeping watch on the long-gone prisoners… SOURCES 📚 Haunted Birmingham, by Arthur Smith 💻 https://museum.west-midlands.police.uk/ 💻 https://www.prisonhistory.org/2019/04/steelhouse-lane-from-functioning-lock-up-to-lock-up-museum/ 💻 https://www.valmcbeath.com/victorian-era-england-1837-1901/19th-century-birmingham-england/ 💻 https://victorianweb.org/places/cities/birmingham/lawcourts.html 💻 https://spectrumphoto.co.uk/whats-new/peaky-blinders-west-midlands-police-museum/ 💻 https://www.workhouses.org.uk/Birmingham/ 📺 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZykBsE7y68w 📺 Most Haunted, first aired 2017 Image of Steelhouse Lockup Interior on the thumbnail: Martinvl on Wikimedia Commons under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license. Episode 135: Gloucester Prison

Gloucester Prison is one of the most unsettling haunted locations in the UK, built on centuries of punishment, suffering, and death. Before it became the prison we know today, this site was part of Gloucester Castle, where prisoners were held in grim conditions for hundreds of years. After closing its doors for good in 2013, Gloucester Prison has quickly developed a reputation for being haunted. Shadow figures flit in the corner of your eyes, and doors slam with no explanation. But there’s one particular ghost story that may need a closer look… Due to the nature of this episode, there are VERY brief descriptions of horrendous crimes like infanticide, as well as executions and suicide. Please look after your mental health first and foremost IN THIS EPISODE Gloucester Prison’s history as a castle gaol, the Georgian prison reforms, public executions, condemned cells, prisoners buried on site, the ghost of Jenny, Cell 25, shadow figures, the haunted hallway, and reports of paranormal activity inside the prison. Episode 134: Listener Ghost Stories Vol. 8

Each of these five ghost stories comes from a real home, with firsthand accounts of experiences that witnesses still can’t fully explain. From something unseen tripping a motion sensor, to a bible inexplicably flying across the room, and possibly… warnings from beyond the grave? To my knowledge, these are not creepypasta or fictional horror stories. Every story in this video comes directly from a real person’s own claimed experience. Make of them what you will. Have you had an unexplained encounter that you would like to share? Tell me your story for a chance to be featured on the channel https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbPjdRwf2UCYVDNsyN_wI7wk0m1oxIqpPWNWe_nliGZ9cIyQ/viewform COME SAY HI! Episode 133: St. James's Palace

Deep in Central London, there’s a royal palace that has been at the centre of British history for almost 500 years… and according to dozens of witnesses, not all of its residents have left. St James’s Palace is still an incredibly important place to the British monarchy, but below the pageantry, lies a 19th Century scandal that left one man dead, under deeply suspicious circumstances… Ever since, people have reported unexplained presences in its corridors, but the paranormal activity doesn’t stop there. The surrounding royal park carries its own dark legends, and even next door in Clareence House, the current London home of King Charles and Queen Camilla, the ghost stories continue. ⚠ This story contains a brief mention of suicide. If you need to, please feel free to sit this one out and look after your mental health. 🖤 SOURCES 📚 The International Monthly Magazine of Literature, Science and Art, Volume V (January to April, 1852) 📚 Within Royal Palaces, by Marquise de Fontenoy (pseud.) 📚 Accredited Ghost Stories, by T. Episode 132: Listener Ghost Stories Vol. 7

Each of these five ghost stories comes from a real school or library, with firsthand accounts of experiences that witnesses still can’t fully explain. In this week’s collection, something lingers behind in the empty school corridors, long after the last student has gone home. In Australia, did the previous owner of this library’s collection make his presence known to pass on a message from beyond the grave? To my knowledge, these are not creepypasta or fictional horror stories. Every story in this video comes directly from a real person’s own claimed experience. Make of them what you will.
