Join Victoria, your Danish teacher, and Andrew, your fellow learner, as they work through the conversations you'll actually need in everyday life. From ordering a coffee and shopping at the supermarket to introducing yourself, each episode focuses on practical, high-frequency situations you'll encounter in Denmark.


Daily Danish Pod is a language learning podcast for absolute beginners, but learners of all levels can benefit from our focus on pronunciation and word and phrase variations. 


Whether you've just moved to Denmark, are planning a visit, or simply want to build confidence speaking Danish, we're here to help.


Our goal isn't to make you fluent overnight. Instead, we want to help you take those important first steps and give you the confidence to start speaking. Many people aren't ready to chat with Danish friends on day one, but you can absolutely learn how to order food, ask simple questions, and navigate daily life.


Each episode builds on the last, introducing new vocabulary while constantly revisiting previous words and phrases through repetition. You can jump into any episode, but listening in order will give you the best learning experience.


So come with us on your Danish language journey. Listen, repeat, rewind, and don't be afraid to speak. The more you hear it, the more natural it becomes.

    Picking Up a Package at the Kiosk - S1 Ep9

    In this episode, we are heading to the kiosk to pick up a package and grab a few things for the weekend. We’ll practise giving package numbers and pickup codes, pointing out what we want, and recognising familiar questions at the counter. We’ll also explore different Danish sounds spelled with the letter o, learn some useful vocabulary for collecting packages, and talk about attitudes towards medicine in Denmark. These expressions are particularly useful when you don’t know the name of something. You can point and say den her for something nearby, or den der for something further away. Pronunciation Point The letter o can represent different sounds in Danish. In this episode, we practise hearing and producing the differences in: To – Two. Otte – Eight. Tolv – Twelve. Word and Phrase Variation In the episode, you’ll hear the names of delivery companies DAO, GLS, and PostNord, along with: ID – Identification. En underskrift – A signature.     Mini Episode: Numbers 20-99

    In this mini episode, we learn the Danish numbers from 20 to 99 in preparation for our next everyday scenario: picking up a package at a kiosk. We begin with tyve, tredive and fyrre, before practising how to form numbers such as fem og tyve and fire og tredive. Then we tackle the famously confusing Danish number system from 50 onwards. Andrew explains the historical base-twenty system and shares the shortcut that helped numbers like halvtreds, halvfjerds and halvfems finally click for him. You'll learn how to order food, understand some of the common questions you might hear behind the counter, and say what you do and don't want in your order. We'll also continue working on Danish pronunciation by focusing on the letter Ø and the difference between the Danish L and soft d sounds, using two very important Danish words: øl and rød. You'll practice the slightly different Ø sounds in: Øl - Beer Rød - Red We'll also use these two words to practice the difference between an L and the Danish soft d. In øl, the tip of your tongue moves behind your upper front teeth to make the L. In rød, the tip of your tongue stays behind your lower front teeth to make the soft d.
