Episode 40 - Interview w/ Leave No Doubt (Sam Trapkin of Trapped Under Ice and Cole James of Grief Recovery Method)

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! In this very special episode, Nate and Jesse are joined by the hosts of Leave No Doubt, a podcast about fatherhood, Sam Trapkin (Trapped Under Ice) and Cole James (Grief Recovery Method). The dads have a great conversation about what it takes to really be a man for your family. Doing what's best for your family means taking care of yourself physically, mentally and spiritually. We do our best as dads and husbands when we become someone who is able to be physically strong for their family, but also emotionally available. It's also so important for guys to have brothers around them who they can be open with about their mental and emotional struggles, and know that they won't be pressured to just "get over it", and trust that someone is there to listen and be there for them. Episode 39 - Interview w/ Carl Severson of Ferret Music and Nora

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! Nate and Jesse discuss football season, how much fun it is to discover and share new bands in the hardcore scene, and the struggle as dads to find a balance between allowing your older kids to make their own decisions and have fun while they're still young, and also making the hard decisions for them because you know it's what's best. This week, Nate and Jesse are joined by Carl Severson, owner of Ferret Music, vocalist of Nora, and all-around scene legend. Carl chats with the guys about the history of Ferret music, including some of the legendary albums they put out from bands like Converge, Killswitch Engage and Every Time I Die. They also talk about passing on the love of heavy music to our kids and how his sons have both grown up to love the scene and have their own involvement in it. Adam chats with the dads about what it's like making music in Florida, and building the hardcore scene in a place that has been overlooked in the past. No matter how big hardcore is getting, and despite the business aspects that are part of it, it is still a scene where people are required to respect one another, and put in the work to build the art that we love. He also talks to the guys about how great of an experience it is to engage with people at hardcore shows, and lets us in on some of what's next for the band. Episode 35 - Sound & Fury Recap

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads recap their weekend at Sound & Fury. There were unforgettable sets from legendary bands, fresh sounds from new bands, and collabs that will be burned into our memories forever. We hung out with friends, made some new ones and already can't wait for next year. One thing that stood out during Sound & Fury, with no barriers, was the massive stage pile-ons. While hardcore has always been interactive, and the best shows are no-barrier shows...are pile-ons becoming too much? Are they getting to a point where it's ruining the experience for bands and the rest of the crowd? Nate and Jesse break it down. Additions to the Dads Who Mosh Playlist: Jesse - "The Product is You" by Incendiary Nate - "Be Harder" by God's Hate Upcoming Shows: Jesse - Division of Mind, Mongrel, Bloodshed - September 11th, San Diego, Corazon del Barrio Follow us! Episode 33 - Interview w/ Joe Musten of Advent and Beloved

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Nate and Jesse are joined by Joe Musten (Advent, Beloved). The dads talk about the state of the scene in North Carolina and how Advent is among a whole list of hardcore bands that continue to shape the scene. Joe also shares stories about touring, the impact that Beloved has had on people, Furnace Fest, and almost getting into fights at shows with other bands on the lineup. The dads also talk about how being a dad and a son or daughter requires a ton of grace. Parents don't have it all figured out, and you really start to understand that when you become a parent yourself. The best we can hope for is to be the best we can possibly be for our kids. Episode 32 - Full Warped Tour '26 Review and We Debate Circle Pits

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Jesse recaps Warped Tour in Long Beach! The vibes, the bands, the people there, were all great and made for a great weekend. Later, the moshing debates continue as the guys talk "rowboats" in mosh pits, the level of skill required for a circle pits, and bands calling out moshers during shows. The dads also discuss how dad life can often be very much like the punk/hardcore scene. Dads today have to choose to go against the grain, and put aside the self-serving nature of our current culture, and do things that don't make sense to a lot of people around us who don't have families to take care of. No matter what we give up to help raise our families, we wouldn't trade it for the world! Episode 31 - Interview w/ Jay from Bayway

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Nate and Jesse are joined by a very special guest, Jay from Bayway! Jay hops onto the podcast while on the road with No Cure, Big Ass Truck and Boltcutter. The guys talk about live shows, the energy that Bayway brings to each tour, despite often being the "odd duck" on the ticket. Jay also talks about Hellfest, and how the payoff after months of planning and re-planning was so huge and those who made it this past year know how special of a time it was. As a dad, Jay has made some major decisions for the benefit of his family, including making the decision to get sober, almost three years ago now. It's not an easy thing to switch from "Jay from Bayway Mode" while on tour, fronting a hardcore band, to "Dad Mode" when he gets home to mulch the lawn and get the backyard ready for graduation parties, but Jay's here for every minute of it. At the end, Jay makes his honorary addition to the Dads Who Mosh Playlist with the song "Anger" by Downset. Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, Jesse and Nate are back from their family summer vacations! The dads talk vacations, visiting family, and road trips. They also discuss the reviewing hardcore releases and albums, and whether critic reviews are helpful, or if it's too hard to put some sort of a "grade" on a form of art that can be completely subjective. The guys also go over the differences between introverts and extroverts, and how dads can be both, although putting labels on people is usually not helpful. Episode 23 - Justin Green of Propositions

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads are joined by Justin Green from Propositions! Justin, Nate and Jesse talk about Justin's new single, "Death Plan, feat. UnWorthy" that dropped 5/18. Justin fills them in on his influences, what it's like building a band on his own, from the ground up, and finding help from his personal heroes in the scene. Projects like Propositions are proof that the DIY spirit of hardcore is still alive and well. Be sure to check out Propositions new single and follow @propositions_hc for more! Later in the podcast, Jesse and Nate go over the final STACKED lineup for Sound and Fury and get excited about the festival in August. In Dad World, the guys talk about how busy life can be, and the crazy demands that are placed not only on parents, but on their kids as well. With life so demanding nowadays, getting away and spending time together as a family, apart from the pressures of life is key. Episode 22 - From Basement to the Big Stage: What the Future of Hardcore Festivals Looks Like

Welcome to the Dads Who Mosh Podcast! This week, the dads talk about the Terror show in Pomona at the Glasshouse and the conflict between security and the fans and the struggle that comes with venues who, in the words of Scott Vogel, want the money from hardcore, without being hardcore. They also discuss the lineup announcement from Furnace Fest and how the future of the festival was finally revealed. While whoever bought Furnace Fest out obviously has deep pockets and is able to bring in the biggest names in heavy music, the fear for those who cherish the spirit of Furnace Fest is that the heart of the festival is now gone. While mental health is a major focus of this podcast, physical health is a big deal too, so Nate and Jesse share their tips on preventing a week of soreness from one night in a mosh pit.
