    Offensive Christianity

Today we are joined by J. Chase Davis, the author of Offensive Christianity. Is contemporary Christianity too inoffensive? Is it unbiblical to offend anyone? We discuss this plus maybe a little bit of The Current Thing.

Are We Allowed To Have Our Home Again?

We no longer recognize our nations and our homelands. Conservatives are great at lamenting what we have lost, BUT they get CONCERNED when we want to do something about it. Conservatism is not enough anymore. Hard times need to be confronted by hardened men, by patriots. That’s the only way we can restore greatness.

    The Burrito Question

The "affordability crisis" is a major talking point lately. Things have long been getting worse, but furor erupted online over fast food burritos now becoming a luxury good. The issue, of course, is not $20 burritos or even whether it is a wise use of finances to get lunch out regularly. It is instead a question of, why do things cost so much? Why is so much of our income going to daily necessities? Why are things things seemingly so much harder for young people?

    What Is THE APOCALYPSE?

Revelation is a "revealing" or an "unveiling." That is what the Greek word transliterated into English as "apocalypse" means. Who or what is revealed in this book? Why has it been given to us? And what does it mean that "the time is near?"

Why Revelation was DEFINITELY Written Before AD 70

In this episode, Ron and I examine the arguments for a late date (AD 90s) for Revelation and articulate why this is built upon weak evidence and also conflicts with the internal evidence of the book.

    The End of the World

Apocalyptic talk is all the rage today, even more than it normally is. "Who could be the antichrist?" "Is World War III around the corner?" The mainstream of American Christianity is apocalyptic. That has been true our entire lifetimes. It remains true today, though things seem to be changing. As people question the End Times obsessiveness, and historical alternatives begin to have purchase, the question always comes up, "what about the Book of Revelation? What is that about?" Ron Dodson and I have begun to explore this book and plan to do so over the next several months. In the first episode we start to set the groundwork of what this book is, how biblical exegesis has continued to develop over time, and how in order to approach this book you have to have an extremely well-developed understanding of the entire Bible before you can begin to make sense of anything in it.

    Race, Ethnicity, and America

Earlier this month CJay wrote a long post on the topic of race, ethnicity, and American identity. Naturally, the kind of people who believe the (now-discredited) SPLC is the fount of all truth immediately objected to it. This is, of course, a difficult topic because of the hysterical religious zealotry surrounding it, but God has called Christians to maturity, especially in difficult topics such as these. How should we think about this stuff in a mature and godly way?

    Promiscuity, Virginity, and Baseball

Every so often, something pops off in online discourse that lays bare faultlines that were already always there. This week was dominated by discussion of a young man with an online branding business who announced to the world that his wife had been a former online performer, and after her conversion, she is now "more pure than most virgins." AD and I will discuss this phenomenon and what is actually going on here. We will also talk about the horrific Noelia Castillo Ramos case.

Unconditional Surrender as the End of Christian Peace

This episode looks at how the rise of the United States helped unravel the Westphalian system built after the Peace of Westphalia. While the system began to weaken after World War I and World War II, it was the U.S. that reshaped it.
