C&SI - Canonisation Cause of Fr Willie Doyle SJ moves to Roman stage - 25 Oct 2026 (S06 E46)

On this weeks podcast we are sharing the news on how the canonisation cause of heroic First World War chaplain Father Willie Doyle SJ moved to its Roman stage following the formal closing of the diocesan inquiry in Ireland on October 18th. We share a brief reflection from Bishop Tom Deenihan about what Fr Willie says to Christians today as he formally closes the diocesan phase of the process. Then we share an interview we had with Pat Kenny from the Fr Willie Doyle Association in September 2017 when Pat introduced listeners to Fr Willie Doyle SJ - one of the Irish Jesuit chaplains who served (and in his case died) during WWI. In part 1 we have our regular prayer space and a dip into the liturgical odds and ends including saints of the week. In part 3 we have our weekly reflection on the Sunday gospel Matthew 22:34–40. When asked which is the greatest commandment in the Law, Jesus replies: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind," and the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." C&SI - Julieann Moran and Father Declan Hurley discuss the upcoming National Synodal Assembly - 18 Oct 2026 (S06E45)

In Ireland this weekend, the National Synodal Pathway was coming to a climax with the Synodal Assembly being held on 17th October. So to put things in context ahead of the outcome of the Assembly on C&SI this week we are sharing an interview from TheWay.ie where Julieann Moran, General Secretary of the Irish Synodal Pathway, and Fr Declan Hurley, Chairperson of the National Synodal Team, invite people to engage with the Working Document and reflect on the future of the Church in Ireland. In the video conversation, Ms Moran and Fr Declan discuss the Working Document, ‘Is not this what God asks of you?’, which was published ahead of the Assembly. The document brings together the fruits of five years of prayer, listening and discernment along the Irish Synodal Pathway. It draws on proposals developed through seven national Working Groups and provided the basis for prayer, conversation and discernment as nominated delegates gathered to consider what God may be asking of the Church at this time. Obviously, once the Assembly is over, we will be following the outcomes and sharing with our listeners over the next few weeks. In part one we have our regular run through the up coming litirgical odds and ends including the saints of the week and we discuss the patron saint whose intercession could be sought for Pope Leo in his recovery after surgery. In part three we have our regular weekly reflection on this weekly Sunday gospel Matthew 22:15–21 - where the Pharisees and Herodians try to trap Jesus by asking whether it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus asks for the coin used for the tax, notes that it bears Caesar's image and inscription, and says: "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's". C&SI - Blessed Fulton Sheen - 27 Sept 2026 (S06E43) (Repeat)

On this weeks podcast we are resharing an interview we did in March 2026 when the C&SI team headed to the diocese of Peoria in Illinois in the US to speak to Msgr. Jason Gray who is the Executive Director of the Archbishop Fulton Sheen Foundation to learn about one of the newest Beati/Blessed from the America's, Archbishop Fulton Sheen. In part one we have our regular liturgical odds and ends including a brief mention of the up coming saints of the week. In part three we have our reflection on the Sunday gospel which this weeks is Matthews parable challenging us to make sure our actions live up to the words we proclaim (Mathew 21:28-32). Blessed Archbishop Fulton Sheen Msgr Jason Gray introduces our listeners this week to Archbishop Fulton Sheen whose ceremony of beatification took place in St Louis on 24th September. While the official decree of beatification by Pope Francis was issued in 2019, the formal ceremony recognises the next step in the process towards canonisation of the man known in his lifetime as "America's Bishop". Gaining prominence initially through his radio programme the Catholic Hour (1930 - 1950) and then from 1951 to 1979 his television series, Life is worth living, Archbishop Sheen was regarded as one of the premier 20th century Catholic evangelists who harnessed the power of what was then the new media of radio and tv, eventually reaching an estimated 30 million viewers each week, which would make it the most widely-viewed religious series in the history of television. He won an Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Television Personality, was featured on the cover of Time Magazine, and became one of the most influential Catholics of the 20th century. Msgr Gray takes us through Sheen's life story including his role as National Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, raising money to support the missions, as Bishop of Rochester, his participation in the Second Vatican Council and the cautious approach taken to ensure there was no issues with formally declaring him Blessed. He reflects on Sheen's example to us of daily prayer as Sheen kept a daily Holy Hour and there are many videos of Sheen available online as a resource to us still in the journey of faith. Resources mentioned in segment about Archbishop Fulton Sheen - Archbishop Fulton Sheen Foundation Book recommendations: - Treasure in Clay (Autobiography) - The Life of Christ - The Priest is not his own Text us at +353 874668950 or email at comeandseeinspirtaions@gmail.com

    C&SI - Summer Reflection Series 2026 - "From addiction to healing" - 20 Sept 2026 (S06E42)

During the summer months here on C&SI we try to share with listeners reflections and talks which we have come across which we think deserve a wider audience and to provide some thoughtful listening for our listeners. On this weeks programme we are sharing a reflection given at the National Novena at Knock in August 2026 by Aidan Gallagher - "From addiction to healing". Aidan is a member of the Cenacelo Communuity and his testimony at the Novena set out his story of descent and recovery from addition. He grew up in a faith-valued family in Dublin, but stopped believing around age 15 or 16 as he began experimenting with drugs and alcohol with peers. Drug use escalated from weekend socializing to a daily habit by age 19, causing him to drop out of college. At age 25, after feeling completely lost, his parents encouraged him to enter the Cenacolo Community outside Knock. Through a demanding routine of physical work, prayer, and mutual support in the international Catholic community, he achieved three years of sobriety and rediscovered his faith and personal dignity. In part one we have our regular run through the up coming liturgical odds and ends including the saints of the week. In part three we have our weekly reflection on the Sunday gospel which this week is Matthew's account of the parable of the generous landowner and dealing with his labourer's (Matthew 20:1-16).
