S16 Ep333: Interview: Hannah Forest ~ Fairies, The Fae, Paranormal Encounters & Magic! (Whew!)

What happens when we open ourselves to the fae, nature spirits, flower essences, and the mystery of the natural world? Hannah Forest shares her experiences with synchronicity, spiritual encounters, and living in relationship with nature. There are some conversations that leave you thinking long after the microphone has been turned off. My conversation with Hannah Forest was one of those. Hannah is an intuitive naturopath, herbalist, and lover of the natural world. Her work explores the quiet, everyday practices that shape our health, our homes, and our relationship with nature. But what really drew me into our conversation was her relationship with the fae, nature spirits, flower essences, and the unseen world. And then there was the story about the ghost who touched her shoulder. The Synchronicity That Led Hannah to Her Mentor Was it coincidence? Was it synchronicity? Was it simply a series of ordinary events that happened to line up? Hannah doesn't need to force an answer. That's part of the magic. The Time Hannah Felt a Spirit Touch Her Shoulder Hannah says the experience was particularly striking because she doesn't consider herself someone who routinely sees or hears spirits. She doesn't describe herself as clairvoyant, nor does she regularly communicate with the dead. This was different. Why Stories About the Fae Still Matter The idea of faeries can easily be dismissed as children's fantasy. But stories about fae and nature spirits have existed across cultures for centuries, often reflecting a deeper relationship between people and the landscapes they inhabit. Whether understood literally or symbolically, these stories can encourage us to treat the natural world as something more than a collection of resources. Final Thoughts: Open Your Heart to the Mystery My conversation with Hannah Forest reminded me why stories about the mysterious and unseen continue to captivate us. They're not necessarily about proving that ghosts exist or convincing someone to believe in the fae. They're about wonder. They're about those strange moments when life seems to line up in ways we couldn't have planned. They're about the possibility that the world might be more mysterious, more alive, and more interconnected than we usually allow ourselves to imagine. S16 Ep332: Byte: Aaron Ryan ~ Two Near Death Experiences, Survival Miracles!

What happens when a lifelong storyteller refuses to stop creating—even when technology, doubt, and unexpected challenges threaten to change the landscape? For author, voice actor, musician, entrepreneur, and father Aaron Ryan, the answer is simple: keep creating, keep laughing, and keep moving forward. Aaron's story is a fascinating blend of science fiction, faith, creativity, artificial intelligence, family, and near-death experiences. From writing his first fictional book as a seven-year-old to building an extensive catalog of novels, from working as a professional voice actor to surviving two frightening brushes with death, his life has repeatedly brought him back to the same question: What are we here to create, and what happens when we take that calling seriously? The Seven-Year-Old Who Wanted to Write Books Aaron traces his writing life back to second grade. He was given a creative assignment by his teacher, Mrs. Walker, to write a fictional book. The result was a little story called The Electric Boy. It may have been a simple novella written by a seven-year-old, but something important happened through that assignment. Aaron discovered that he loved telling stories. Creativity as a Spiritual Calling This idea runs through much of Aaron's philosophy. He believes that creativity is a gift from God. That belief profoundly influences how he thinks about authorship. To create something original is to participate in something larger than yourself. The $6 Swim That Almost Cost Aaron His Life The second story happened when Aaron was a teenager in Mazatlán, Mexico. A friend dared him to dive from a rock and swim out into the Pacific Ocean. The prize? 20,000 pesos—which Aaron estimates was around six dollars at the time. There was a jellyfish warning. Aaron went anyway. Listen to this episode which includes so much more...Aaron's other narrow escape from Death, the birth of his two sons, and his encounter with Faith, with God & with the belief that something in this Universe wants him alive! To read up on Aaron and his coolness, here's his website! Here's his Insta as well! And don't forget his YouTube, where a lot of magic happens! And finally his BOOKS! Woot! Buy them here! If you would like to hear other episodes with Near Death Experiences, click on the below links! Peter Gunn shares a story of dying of sunstoke as a child, and how what he experienced then, has changed everything for him now! Listen to "The Death Experience That Showed Him Reality" on Apple HERE, and Spotify HERE! Listen to Ash Perrow's episode, where he shares his Near Death Experience and how his encounter with other realities has helped him to understand how he is to help the world! "At The Edge of Death, Making a Promise That Allowed Him To Return To Life!" Listen on Spotify HERE, and Apple HERE! And finally, David Richards has his own tale to tell. After being fatally injured after being hit on the head by a fellow kid, David experienced Death and other dimensions. This experience shapes him today and helps him to realize that Death is only the next big adventure! Listen to "The Near Death Experience As a Kid, Changes Reality" on Spotify HERE, and Apple HERE. HEY FRIENDS, this is your public service announcement to remember to SUBSCRIBE to the pod, or FOLLOW... thanks so much! (a little rating or review won't hurt either!) Your bit of strangeness (in place of beauty this time) is this YouTube video I took of lightning during a storm in Santa Fe, NM. S16 Ep331: Judith Jenya: Peacebuilding, Healing & the Miracle of a Croatian Summer Camp!

The Power of Peace: How Judith Jenya Turned a Vision Into a Miracle for Children of War! What would you do if you saw the devastating effects of war on children and knew you had to help—even if you didn't yet know how? For Judith Jenya, the answer was simple: she started. A peace activist, author, artist, poet, and founder of the Global Children's Organization, Judith has spent her life creating spaces for healing, connection, and hope. Her work has reached children affected by conflict in places including Bosnia, Croatia, Northern Ireland, Los Angeles, and Northern New Mexico. She has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and recognized with numerous awards for her work in peacebuilding and healing. Seeing the Impact of War on Children Judith traveled to Croatia and began visiting displaced-person centers, refugee camps, and orphanages. What she saw shocked her. She had witnessed poverty before. She had worked on humanitarian projects. But she had never seen the consequences of war so directly. The buildings were damaged. But, as Judith describes it, the people were damaged too. That realization shifted something inside her. She knew she had to find a way to help the children. The question was: How? The Unexpected Answer: A Summer Camp At an orphanage in Split, Croatia, Judith met a director who was openly frustrated with humanitarian organizations. People came through, he explained, took photographs, and left. When Judith asked him what children affected by the war most needed, his answer surprised her. A summer camp. A 500-Year-Old Monastery Became a Place of Healing The camp was held in a 15th-century Franciscan monastery on a small island. The monastery had originally been built by monks from Venice. It sat beside a centuries-old olive grove. And remarkably, it had escaped the destruction of the war. It was almost as though the entire place had been waiting for them. When Life Changes Because You Say Yes There's a beautiful idea at the heart of Judith's story: you don't always know which decision is going to change the rest of your life. If you're interested in other stories of kindness, generosity and people changing the world, consider listening to these other episodes! Araceli Kopiloff talks about what it looks like to suffer tragic loss, and then orienting herself to lifting others up. An astonishing tale of selflessness and generosity, you can listen on Apple HERE, on Spotify HERE! Keeping in line with the idea of saying "yes," this episode with Rand Timmerman, is all about Rand being present to his brother and saying "yes" to supporting him while walking The Appalachian Trail. Rand has his own vision during that walk, that will fill you with wonder! Listen on Apple HERE, and Spotify HERE! Finally, Drew Ann Long has created "Caroline's Cart," and her miracle is her special needs daughter, Caroline. Drew said "yes" when confronted by what her daughter needed in the world, and she wasn't about to let anyone stop her from helping those who need it! Listen on Apple HERE and Spotify HERE! To check out Judith's website: click here! To view some of her paintings, click here! Her book, "Memories Do Not Burn: A Memoir, Bringing Hope and Resilience to Children of War" can be found here! S16 Ep330: Signs & Wonders 4 ~ Signs and Wonders: The Day I Asked to Meet a Dragon—and One Appeared!

A simple wish to meet a dragon led to an unexpected moment of synchronicity. Discover a magical story about dragons, mystery, and coincidence! The Day I Asked to Meet a Dragon—and One Appeared Sometimes the world seems to respond when we least expect it. A strange coincidence. A perfectly timed encounter. A conversation that arrives at exactly the right moment. Or perhaps, if you’re someone like me, it’s something more than coincidence. Welcome back to the fourth installment of Signs and Wonders, a series devoted to those mysterious, magical moments that make us wonder whether reality is far stranger—and more interconnected—than we realize. Usually, these are stories shared with me by someone else. But this time, I had an experience that was so funny, singular, and wonderfully strange that I simply had to tell you about it myself. And it all began with a wish. “I Want to See a Dragon Today” A few weeks ago, I woke up thinking about an earlier interview with Ethan Hope. Ethan had spent three months studying with the Shipibo people and shared stories about what he had learned during that time. Among the fascinating beliefs he encountered was the idea that there are other planets and realities inhabited entirely by dragons. For some reason, that conversation was on my mind when I woke up that morning. And then, completely out of nowhere, I said: “Oh my gosh, I want to see a dragon today. I want to meet a dragon.” What Is Synchronicity? Carl Jung described synchronicity as meaningful coincidence—events that appear connected in a way that feels more significant than chance alone. We all have experiences like this. You think of someone you haven’t spoken to in years, and suddenly they call. You ask a question, and an answer appears unexpectedly in a conversation later that day. You wonder whether you should take a particular path, and something happens that feels like a sign. Maybe these moments are coincidences. Maybe they're patterns our minds create. Or maybe the universe occasionally winks at us. I prefer to believe that the Universe is winking at us, in the game with us, and reminding us, every day, that the possibility is there to co-create, collab, whatever you want to call it...and of course, to meet Dragons! Final Thought Perhaps the best thing we can do is stay open. Open to mystery. Open to wonder. Open to the possibility that life is occasionally much stranger than our explanations for it. Because sometimes, when you wake up in the morning and say you want to meet a dragon... A dragon just might be waiting to introduce herself. S16 Ep329: Interview ~ Ghostly Mimics, Haunted Houses, and the Mystery of What Happens After Death!

A Skeptic, a Haunted House, and a Story That Can't Be Easily Explained! A lifelong skeptic shares chilling paranormal encounters in his haunted farmhouse, including disembodied voices, ghostly mimics, unexplained footsteps, and questions about consciousness after death. Some of the most compelling paranormal stories come from people who never expected to tell them. This episode's guest, Doyle, is someone I am incredibly lucky to call a friend. Born in England, raised in Ireland, and eventually making his way to the United States, Doyle has lived a fascinating and varied life. He's been a summer camp director, educator, podcast producer, chorus singer, and parent. He's also a lifelong science fiction fan—which, naturally, makes us instant besties. Living in a Haunted Farmhouse Doyle's paranormal experiences took on a much darker tone after he began living alone in an old farmhouse. The house dates back to the 1950s and, according to Doyle, has been the site of three confirmed deaths. One person reportedly died in the very bedroom where he now sleeps. After his divorce, Doyle suddenly found himself living alone in the house. That's when he began noticing things. The Chilling Phenomenon of Ghostly Mimicking One of the most unsettling paranormal experiences Doyle described involved what paranormal researchers and experiencers sometimes call mimicking. On more than one occasion, Doyle heard one of his sons calling for him. He would go looking for the source of the voice—only to discover that his son insisted he had never called. Is a Mimic a Darker Kind of Paranormal Activity? Doyle described mimicking as the aspect of his experiences that felt potentially darker. A voice calling from an empty room can be unsettling on its own. But hearing the voice of someone you know—particularly when you later discover they never spoke—adds another layer of discomfort. Why would something mimic a living person's voice? Does Consciousness Continue After Death? Doyle is open to the possibility that consciousness might continue after physical death. He referenced ideas connected with quantum physics and theories exploring whether some aspect of existence could persist in a state we cannot currently comprehend. These ideas are highly speculative, and they should not be confused with established scientific proof of an afterlife. But the question remains one of humanity's oldest and most persistent: What happens to consciousness when the body dies? The Power of a Shared Paranormal Experience Perhaps the most compelling part of Doyle's story isn't a photograph or an investigation. It's the moment when two people heard the same impossible voice. When strange experiences happen alone, we often question our senses. We wonder whether exhaustion, expectation, memory, or perception could have played a role. But shared experiences are different. They don't automatically prove a supernatural explanation. Two people can still misunderstand or misidentify the same event. Yet they complicate the easy dismissal that someone simply imagined something. For Doyle, his son's confirmation mattered. His son heard it too. And that left them both with a mystery. S16 Ep328: From Science to Spiritual Awakening: Julie Grimm on Mystery, Magic, and Living in Both Worlds, Interview!

Science and Spirituality: Julie Grimm on Awakening and Mystery! Julie Grimm shares her journey from scientist and atheist to spiritual guide, exploring mystical experiences, oneness, magic, and the fascinating intersection of science and spirituality. What Happens When Science Meets the Mystery? What if we didn't have to choose between science and spirituality? What if a deep love of biology, mathematics, astronomy, dolphins, or the physical universe could coexist with an equally deep fascination with mystery, magic, and the experiences we cannot fully explain? That question sits at the heart of my conversation with Julie Grimm, a scientist, painter, author, illustrator, professional guide, and healer within the modern mystery school. A Scientist and Atheist Experiences a Spiritual Awakening Julie wasn't searching for a mystical experience. She wasn't a metaphysical scholar. She knew about concepts such as chakras largely through yoga, but she considered them metaphors rather than literal energetic realities. At the time, she identified as a scientist and an atheist. Then something happened that completely changed the lens through which she experienced the world. Mystical Experiences Don't Always Happen When We Expect Them One of the things I loved most about talking with Julie was hearing where some of her later mystical experiences occurred. Not in a sacred ceremony. Not necessarily in deep meditation. Not always during prayer. Sometimes, she said, these moments appeared unexpectedly. Living at the Threshold of Mystery Julie Grimm's story is not necessarily a story about abandoning science for spirituality. It's a story about allowing an extraordinary experience to change the questions she was willing to ask. She remains someone with a scientific background. And she has also become someone deeply engaged with spiritual exploration, healing, guidance, and mystery. She lives at the threshold. For more conversations and cool revelations around this topic, check out the brilliant guests and their episodes below: Danielle LaSusa talks about what it was like to discover a portal where she least expected it...and she's a scientist as well.
