Actress Eve Plumb better known to the world as Jan Brady stops by Behind the Awards to talk about her memoir Happiness Included. Eve shares what it was like to be a child actor and part of The Brady Bunch, one of the most iconic families in TV history. Many commercials for toys and television roles followed. She has continued to work in television, movies, and stage her whole life, and is known for having played “Jan” in “The Brady Bunch”, and “Dawn” in “Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway”, “Beth” in “Little Women”, and many others. Television roles have continued, with “Bull”, “Crashing”, “Blue Bloods”, “The Path”, “Law & Order, SVU”, “Army Wives”, and “Grease Live”. Eve studied improv comedy at The Groundlings School in Los Angeles, and after moving to New York City, performed Off Broadway in Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s “Love, Loss, and What I Wore”, “Unbroken Circle” and “Miss Abigail’s Guide to Dating, Mating, & Marriage”, as well as regional theatre work throughout the United States. Eve has proudly been part of two “Broadway Backwards” performances for Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids. Recent film appearances include “Blue Ruin” (Winner Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Sundance Spotlight Festival, Independent Spirit nominee) and “Monsoon”. TV audiences saw a new side of Eve when she shared her love for home renovation and restoration on “A Very Brady Renovation” and “Design At Your Door” on HGTV. Eve has also been an accomplished painter for many years, showing her oil paintings in galleries around the U.S. Her subject matter ranges from restaurant scenes and still lifes to paintings based on Film Noir and Western movies. The reading was directed by Zi Alikhan and starred Russell Daniels (Titanique, Ginger Twinsies) and Hannah Solow (Oh, Mary!) amongst other Broadway criminals. Kevin is the writer and director of the hit Off-Broadway comedy GINGER TWINSIES, which was nominated for a 2026 Queerty Award for Best Theater. Stay tuned for news on future productions. #189 - Anthony Michael Lopez - A Flair for Theatricality
Anthony Michael Lopez joins Behind the Awards to chat about his stage and screen career. Most known for his role of Bruce in Survival of the Thickest, Tony is also an accomplished stage Actor seen in last seasons Titus Andronicus with Patrick Page. Tony gives us the low down on working with Page as well as Othello, Our Town, Camelot and The Gilded Age. Hosted by original cast member Joyce DeWitt alongside John Ritter’s widow, actress Amy Yasbeck. Richard Kline, who originated the role of Larry Dallas, will be the evening's narrator. The cast is lead by Jason Biggs, who steps into Ritter’s iconic role of Jack Tripper, with Christine Taylor as Chrissy Snow, Bellamy Young as Janet Wood, Richard Kind as Stanley Roper, and Susie Essman as Helen Roper. Following the New York kickoff, the Three’s Company 50th anniversary tour will continue in 2027, with readings in Dallas (February 27), Cleveland (March 13), and Los Angeles (September 9). Also in the news; Sacha Baron Cohen will star in Quentin Tarantino's debut stage play, The Popinjay Cavalier, which opens in London's West End in 2027. Anthony Michael Lopez is best known for his recurring role as Bruce on Michelle Buteau’s hit comedy series Survival of The Thickest on Netflix, and as Roderigo in Othello on Broadway starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. Illusions and Visual Effects Designer Chris Fisher stops by Behind the Awards fresh off the opening of Paranormal Activity to breakdown the magic he’s creating for the show. Chris also does a deep dive into the illusions in Stranger Things that won him a 2025 Tony Award and his theater career in such shows as Wicked, Company, Harry Potter, and the upcoming Nanny McPhee the Musical. Chris also had is magic wand in the creation of Black Swan and 2:22 A Ghost Story coming in October to The Lortell Theater. Also in this episode - Doug Henning turns Broadways Andrea McArdle into Allison Smith on his special Doug Henning: Magic on Broadway which aired on NBC in November 1982. Chris Fisher received a Special Tony Award in 2025 for his work as Illusions and Visual Effects Designer on Stranger Things: The First Shadow, as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. A classically trained ballet dancer and award winning filmmaker, Tyner-Bryan grew up in the theater in Hartford, Connecticut and serves as a creative director for Grammy Award winning musicians. As an actor, her credits include The Penguin (HBO), Manifest (Netflix), Gossip Girl (HBO Max), Billions (Showtime), Divorce (HBO), The Knick (Cinemax), Great Kills (Tubi), and numerous independent films. Drew first rose to prominence as a member of the Motown pop group 98 Degrees. The group recorded four successful albums and sold more than nine million records worldwide. Drew made his Broadway debut playing the role of Mark Cohen in Rent. His latest Broadway credits include the role of Patsy in Monty Python’s Spamalot and Corny Collins in Hairspray with the PCLO. Drew became a household name when he took home the infamous mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars (season-two champion, season-five co-host) and later took his dancing talents on the road with 3 North American tours of Dancing with the Stars and was asked to come back and be apart of the All-Star season. Drew also hosted the primetime ABC show Dance War with Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, The Miss USA Pageant, HGTV's $250,000 Challenge and America Sings for GMC. After a decade break 98 Degrees is back together and recently toured with NKOTB and Boyz II Men on the "Package Tour", "My2K Tour" and the "98 Degrees at Christmas" tours in the fall of 2017 and 2018. Drew also starred in UPTV's "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas" and A&E's "Lachey's Bar". Drew also consults with the Cincinnati Film Commission on films being produced around Cincinnati. Lea Lachey was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH and began working professionally at 11 on the "King and I" National Tour. After being awarded a full dance scholarship to Marymount Manhattan College in NYC she went on to work with the world renowned Radio City Music Hall Rockettes as a dancer and assistant choreographer. Whether it is doing “Singing in the Rain” with the Santa Barbara CLO, the Disney NYC World Premiere of Hercules or the Missy Elliott video for “I Can’t Stand the Rain” Lea has always taken pride in being a versatile dancer and expects the same from her students. Lea's choreography credits include 98 Degrees (Today Show, Good Morning America, Mtv, VH1, Miss Teen USA, NFL ProBowl and NBA All-star game). Her live stage credits include the Nickelodeon ‘All That” Tour, 98 Degrees “Heat It Up” Tour, 98 Degrees “Revelation” World Tour and Creative Director for Jessica Simpson’s “Reality” Tour. Lea is currently Co-Director of the School for Creative and Performing Arts Musical Theater program and co artistic director of Lachey Productions which is bridging the gap between student and professional performer. Her work was showcased in the Exhale Dance Tribe shows "Love Letters" and "Rapture" at the Aronoff which included Lachey Arts performers. Actor Michael Chernus joins Behind the Awards to deep dive embodying the personal of Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy in Peacock’s Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy. Michael touches on how is Theater roots helped him take on one True Crime’s most famous subjects. MICHAEL CHERNUS is an acclaimed stage and screen actor known for his versatility across film, television, and theater. Born and raised in Rocky River, Ohio, he studied at The Juilliard School’s Drama Division and has built a distinguished career originating roles in world premieres by some of contemporary theater’s most celebrated playwrights, including Adam Rapp, Annie Baker, Brooke Berman, John Belluso, Noah Haidle, Molly Smith Metzler, Jessica Goldberg, Julia Jordan, Bess Wohl, and Lisa Kron. In 2011, he won an Obie Award and received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for his performance in In the Wake at The Public Theater. Most recently, he appeared in Well, I’ll Let You Go at The Space at Irondale in Brooklyn. Chernus currently stars as John Wayne Gacy in Peacock’s critically acclaimed limited series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, a dramatic retelling of one of America’s most infamous criminal investigations that centers on the victims, their families, and the pursuit of justice. The series marks his first leading television role and has garnered widespread praise for his transformative performance. On television, Chernus is perhaps best known for his role as Ricken Hale in Apple TV+’s Emmy Award-winning phenomenon Severance. Additional television credits include Amazon Prime Video’s Dead Ringers opposite Rachel Weisz, Patriot, Easy, Tommy, Manhattan, Ramy, Perpetual Grace, LTD, Orange Is the New Black, and The Big C.
